Threats against Obama are up 400% above Bush, and represent more threats than any other president on record.

What we should be asking is how do people 18 and 20 years old get in that kind of a mental state of hating enough to kill anyone. Where does all this hate come from. Listen to the news or so called news these days and it won't take long for you to get the idea of were some of it comes from. All our news, radio and TV, these days is gossip and 1/2 truth hate speech. The news is no longer meant to report the truth but instead to sway and sensationalize political garbage in order to divide us from one another. What does this kind of reporting teach our young? We need to fight to get our news back to being news that we can depend on that doesn't take any political side to it's reporting and only reports what it knows to be the truth.

I pray for his safety a lot. I can't even allow myself to consider what it would be like in this country if something unspeakable should happen to Obama. Thanks Terry.

With all due respect, I'm really disgusted with the fact that journalists consistently refer to our President, The President of The United States as "Obama"! He is President Obama. Thanks for the news Lone!!

Good point, Margaret. Sometimes they stretch a little and refer to him as "Mr. Obama," but rarely as "President Obama," as you pointed out. I do not, however, recall them referring to former President Bush as just "Bush." Double standard, anyone?

Politics do polarize, don't they? No president should be assassinated. If this young man hated him so much, he was free to join the people who would like to impeach President Obama. He was free to express his views on the radio with Rush who would undoubtedly embrace him as a brother. This young man is obviously ill, but as he is getting treatment (hopefully) someone should be explaining his less violent options to him.

Deborah, I think it's too easy to say he's "ill" and let him off the hook. There is real evil in the world and I think it can be measured by an individual's beliefs that he/she is more important than other people and what he/she wants is more valid that what other people want, and the individual's willing to act on these things: in other words, how selfish is this person. This can apply in the world of business and finance, as illustrated so well by the filthy rich bankers and CEOs in this country and elsewhere, in government, as indicated by Cheney's willingess to sacrifice young American lives so that his friends at Halliburton could get rich, or by individuals who believe that their lust for money or sex is more important than their victims' rights to safety or property.
