Offbeat  (tags: hospital, turns away little girl, burned, in pain )

Madison Healy was turned away from Coventry's University Hospital after her clothes caught fire in a freak accident at home. Her mother Alana Regan, 27, took her to A&E, expecting her daughter's injuries to be treated swiftly

Madison should have received treatment on arrival, my suggestion would be to have called an ambulance, she would have received immediate first aid if appropriate.

Parents should have basic first aid training when they have children. My priority would have been to put Madison in a bath of cold water to treat the burns. Burns continue to damage the skin and flesh as they are stil hot. The hospital obviously recognised a burn and the A&E doctor should have given some first aid before sending them off.

This is a relevant complaint but I doubt that anything will happen. I wish Madison well with her treatment.

They should have administered basic first aid to the burns before ending them off. Didn't they take the Hippocratic oath upon becoming doctors? 'First, do no harm.....".
