ST. REGIS - Brandyn Jones was watching television last Thursday when he heard the screaming. "I could tell something really bad was happening," the 17-year-old Jones said Thursday. "So I went outside to see if there was anything I could do."

Courageous young man. It's nice to know they're doing fine.

What a hero! It's so sad that he lost his own dog that way- someone should be held accountable for those actions. glad the little boy will be ok.

I am so sorry it was a wold hybrid. I looked closely at picture and it looks like the kind of neighborhood where people do not take any time socializing their dogs. Wolf hybrids are lovely animals if well cared for and loved.
I would also tell that boy to never again try to stop a dog fight. A pit bull would have turned and done some serious damage. I am 5'9 and the only thing I will do is pull dogs apart by yanking on their tails. This usually works and no one gets hurt.

Dogs & other animal's only do bad things because of the stupidity or meaness of their owners. If you own a dog, learn how to control it. I have 6 Dobermans and never had anyone bitten.
I'm glad the boy is ok.

Wolves are gorgeous creatures, but they were never meant to be pets. The same goes for wolf hybrids. The wolf side is more dominant than the dog side. There was a story a couple of weeks ago where a family's wolf hybrid took their newborn baby from the crib. Family and friends searched the area and found the dog and baby about 300 yards from the house. Both lungs were punctured and the baby had numerous bite wounds. At the time of the report, they did not know if the baby would survive. The family had the dog destroyed.

Large dogs and close living quarters with lots of neighbors especially kids is not a good situation at all. And the owner admitted he used the dog as a guard dog..... any dog tethered or chained gets an attitude and is going to be aggressive. Very sad ending for the dog who only did what his owner wanted him to do protect his property but his owner was ignorant of just what might happen....like this. Good to know some teens are are still heros in their own right.....not just couch potatoes! Kudos to Brandyn!

Brandyn's action show that there are good hearted neighbors that would risk being hurt to help a victim.,HE IS A HERO!!..but....what about the dog?? according to his owner,he was tied (which I think is wrong) but the point here is that the neighborhood kids had been teasing and provoking him.,He was doing his job of guarding the house.,the kids bike was in the driveway, which shows he was not just driving by....and ofcourse the childs mother doesn't want to believe her son would be doing anything wrong.I can understand....but the poor dog was shot by a fool that took the law into his own hands without checking the facts first!!!I hope he is punished for what he did! I am glad the boy is OK., I am also very sorry the dog was shot!!!He was only doing what he was taught to do!!!!!I hope both families learned from this!!!!!
