"Who cares? These ad hominem attacks are not working "

They aren't doing anything because she is unelectable from the start, I just think she's good for a laugh. However, "ad hominem" refers to arguments made against the person. When a person is debating on behalf of an issue this is inappropriate. If O'Donnell were acting as an activist for an issue like immigration reform then these would inappropriate attacks. However O'Donnell is not promoting an issue, she herself is running for office, therefore ad hominem attacks are absolutely relevant as it is her, not an incorporeal idea, that will be making decisions in office.

If we do away with representative democracy then "ad homimen" might actually be a dirty word.

Lets's vote: How many believe she is a virgin? Keep in mind that according to right-wing fundamentalists, if you have thought about having sex, you have had sex. She seems to do a Lot of thinking about sex. Anyoone want to change their vote?? If she wasn't so obsessed with other peoples' sex lives, and in not allowing anyone the knowledge of how to avoid pregencies if they are indulging, I doubt many would care whether or not she has ever partaken... WHEN is someone going to ask her how she intends to enforce her NO SEX RULE?? Will the The Rule apply to Republicans? They are real good at talking-the-talk, but have the serious trouble walking-the-walk!

"Yep, just more propaganda. How about posting a video of Obama smoking pot and doing cocaine? Now THAT would be news. Or how about posting information about her opponent's marxist ideolology? Now that would be news. This - nope." --- I'll try to find the video you ask for if you'll equally locate and post video of GW Bush drinking and doing coke---cuz we all KNOW that happened.

As for the Ad hominem remark---what is false about this? She said that she was going to stop people from having sex and; even more irrationally, based on the idea that since she isn't getting any (or giving any if you prefer) that it is logical to expect to convert everyone else based on the fact that you don't. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG!!!! This woman is irresponsible, irrational, and irritating (non necessarily in that order). Her own parents, by the very nature of her existence, had sex. Were they wrong? (I mean in a morality sense, not the literal sense, because we concerned many know that they WERE wrong, because it netted the world this little enigma) Telling teenagers, or even single adults, to use condoms IS RESPONSIBLE. It is illogical to expect that because you tell them all not to have sex, that none of them will. It is possible that some WILL listen, and hooray for them. However is it also largely possible that most of them will have sex anyway, if not immediately, than at least sooner rather than later. they should have access to and an understanding of how to use condoms and other divices meant to protect against STDs, as well as unplanned pregnancies. Providing information, and the tools to protect oneself is a responsible and humanitarian act. Pure and simple.

Amazing how it is fair to make claims about Bill and Hillary Clinton, Obama, and Al Gore that are not documented or proved in any way even some that are demonstrably false, but the recorded speech of Rush, Palin, Glenn Beck and this woman are deemed unfair. The facts are that the dumb stuff this woman says about sex are just as self serving as the statements Hugh Hefner made years ago.

With billions of humans on planet earth - somebody is going right ahead doing it human style despite some silly pronouncements from a woman who has yet to find even one man who wants her bad enough to marry her for some of that sweet virgin married sex she is offering. She also claims to know an awful lot about masturbation in both men and women despite her assumed zero experience and her distinct lack of experience with male sexuality. I can't wait for her pronouncements on nocturnal emission!

I think it's fine to point out the outrageous statements coming from the Tea Party candidates, but we should not ignore the destructive political agenda of Conservatives and their Tea Party allies. The Republicans, are going to be the death of this Country...Everything they're trying to do, is just smoothing the path of a Corporate takeover of American...As bad as it is now, just imagine how it's going to be when they don't have to pretend, that they have the interest's of our Country at Heart...I just can't understand why so many people out there, think that giving the Republicans control again, is the right thing to do...Aren't we in the mess we're in now because of the Republicans? Just imagine President Obama's first day walking into the Oval Office, and looking at what was left on the desk for him, from Dubya...Obama hasn't been perfect, far from it, but if people would open their eyes and minds and ears, it's all there to see...Republican, and Tea Party morons aren't the answer to getting this Country back on track, they are just there to ensure that the Corporate takeover is completed...Think, people... The Corporations, with a Repulican controlled Government will start coming for us all, well, at least those of us who aren't Rich...It's almost funny that the Tea Party's worries about Obama and Big Government aren't their big problem, the big problem for them is when The Corporations come for them...They won't be needed by the Corporations anymore, and since most of them aren't rich, they'll be in thre same boat as the rest of us...The Corporations just needed the Tea Party idiots, to say and do such stupid and crazy things, so they'd take the focus off what most of us should be focused on, ...I think If the Republican's take back the Congress and Senate, we're all F***ed...All the facts are out there, you just got to make an effort to find out the truth, and they're counting on us to be stupid, so we won't vote the right way...It's kind of up to us, really...

Greg K., I agree with you. What a bunch of hypocrites as far as those who think she's being picked on, yet other politicians who have done nothing or said anything about anyone else's private lives are bashed and persecuted.

Trouble is with sex it is a very short word for a very large topic a concept (no pun intended) that likely eludes the reasoning of the extremist right wing and religious groups that appear so obsessed with it Religion for example is full of references to unnatural manifestations of sexual behaviour and weird and wonderful interpretations of basic biology. Thus we have virgin births, an unmarried son of God, women covered from head to toe in case they inflame passions, various assorted forms of genital mutilation etc etc! In reality the bastions of these bizarre religious tenets are often linked to sex scandals involving unnatural sex with children etc and the powers that be in these organisations work overtime to cover up their sins! Women for example are regarded no more than chattels and baby making machines in some areas! As I've remarked before abstinence makes the thing grow longer! Unrealistic claims and such like regarding sexual behaviour are in the main naive at best! Life is programmed to replicate itself and if it was not the case then God would not have made the mechanics of sex pleasurable! Thinking anything else is to demean God's purpose and I often wonder why evangelical right wing don't return their bodies to God if they truly believe their sexuality to be a flaw and therefore not fit for purpose, as one might return a faulty item to the store! As to the emissions of this particular person and as to whether she was chaste or perhaps not chased by men is perhaps irrelevant in the context of assessing her intelligence! Palin, O'Donnell and any other political career pursuers are simply that self serving, selfish and intent on power at any price, not what I would think of as a being very "Christian" certainly alien to the teachings of Jesus! It has often been said that if Jesus visited the voting booth he would vote for socialism! However he would be hard pressed to find a genuine socialist candidate in the UK political system for example! Her chastity may well be a noble and admirable personal choice but within that stance is a narrow conception (no pun intended) of the norms of reality! Surely given the facts condoms are better than condemnation! The mythology of procreation, the universality of the oldest profession are all interesting facets of that three letter word sex as for her possible pronouncements on nocturnal emissions I guess she might think they were something to do with global warming and as such she does not believe in them either! It is also interesting to note that these decriers of sex have the largest families of any social group on the planet, it must be dirty lavatory seats in public toilets! One last thought, how is it that a physically attractive person can be so sexually repulsive!

Once again Northern, what "propaganda"? Anyone who looked at the video and article can see that she is talking about "young people", not stopping the whole country from having sex. Now, I was a teenager in the 70's, and young people were definitely having sex, as they have been for centuries. Remember all the homes for unwed mothers that young women were quietly sent away to? At the time, most of them were raised thinking having sex out of wedlock would result in eternal damnation, yet they still did "succumb". So how can you give credence to Ms O'Donnell's statement; "it's unrealistic to think they're just going to do it anyway", talking to a guy trying to educate kids about the dangers of sex? She is the one who is unrealistic, in many ways... If your Tea Party darlings get what they want, what will become of the children? They preach "abstinence only", (proven not to work), they want to ban all abortions at the same doing away with the very "social programs" that help children and their mothers. Most women don't have mothers running around the country earning millions of dollars speaking without really saying anything, and most young women are not offered reality shows because they had a child out of wedlock.

Christine O"Donnell is God's punishment for her parents for having sex when they were younger, period.

I have been taping Real Time with Bill Maher for a relative. Last week(Sept.17) Bill played part of an episode of Politically Incorrect with Christine O"Donnell-who appeared 22 times on that show talking about being involved with a Satanic/witch date, sending many in the Wiccan community into indignation for the false connection that the church always merges with Satanism. Last Friday(Sept. 24) Bill run an episode taped on November 30,1996, with actress Edie McClurg, Kato Kaelin and Kid from Kid an' Play, the music duo. The following from taken from that taped episode:

Christine: "We've all done things we regret, you know. In college, you know, we used to get pregnant all the time on purpose, just so we could sell the stem cells. But I'm not proud of that. It was the 80's, you know. "

Kid:" Oh that's messed up.

Bill:"Kid, Kid, please. Keep an open mind. At least that's what I told the two chicks I was getting high with in my hot tub last night."

Christine: "You know what? You know what? Those girls should know that keeping their virginity is very important, you know, but in the ass is okay."

Kato: "Hello."

Christine: " No, it is. It's true. I've dabbled in the ass a little bit-it's in the Bible, it's okay."

Edie: " I don't think that's true dear."

Bill: "Let her finish."

Christine: " I'm saying kids today get away with murder......"

So, from what I have heard from this woman's mouth the last two weeks from previous televised shows, she is not a virgin since she includes herself (we used to) get pregnant and then following that up with sexual sodomy is okay. I think the term "virgin" no longer applies to Ms. O"Donnell.

This woman clearly is not wrapped to tight. How the voters could select someone so visibly disturbed, especially when it comes to other peoples sexual and private practices, something the right-wingers, Republicans and Bible thumppers seem to be overly obsessed with. And why does the Old Testament have so many references pertaining to human sexual anatomy and reproductive systems? Seems kind of sick(perverted) when you think about it.

From trying to make masturbation illegal to now wanting to stop the whole world from having sex, this calls for a much bigger government/ law enforcers than we currently have now and that these same people decry they want smaller government. You can't have it both ways can you? And if she thinks banning sex is okay, doesn't that go against the belief system she claims of "making more babies" as God said so? And let us not forget that she also believes that we now have mice walking around with fully functioning human brains in their tiny heads as we have mated humans and mice together and that would be bestiality wouldn't it?

Wow! It makes your head spin, first Sue Louden the "chicken for doctor appointment lady" lost to Sharon Angle. And then this woman, along with Sarah. They all do a dis-service to women everywhere and the only woman I feel gave women a bad rep and made them look like brainless bubble heads since the 1950's was Lucille Ball in her various spin offs of the "I Love Lucy" series.

Please, please, please people wake up and show this woman the door, better yet, the padded cell and straitjacket.

NEand Northern where did you people find these candidates at some assylum .O'Donnell, Palin ,and Rand Paul are three nuts short their bolts .Rand Paul in an article called anyone who takes unemployment dead beats looking for a handout from the government . Someone should tell Rand Paul that we have been paying a unemployment tax sense it started around 1939 out of our pay checks for the purpose of collecting it if we become laid off or lose a job. If Tea party members and all Republicans who aren't wealthy had half a brain they would figure out exactly what these people are trying to do to this country .They want to take away all government regulations and give the power to corporations.
Anyone wanting to know what the Tea party Republican candidates and the Republican party in general are up to just read their political blogs and you will see it all there ,They said that those receiving Social Security now they want to cut their checks to 75% and end further Social Security ,end Medicare and Medicaid and all social programs which include affordable housing, food stamps, fuel assistance and unemployment ,what they want to do is give tax cuts to the wealthiest American's and deregulate Corporations. Now if you see something in there that is for the good of our country I would love to know what it is .
Also you can hear straight from the Reublican talking heads at Fox that this is their agenda too . Beck said ,,Oh there will be a lot of crying but too bad they will have to toughen up and get to work .Imagine old men and woman and the disabled without an income trying to toughen up and get to work . The sick bastard rants and laughs about it as if it is funny . Hitler did the same thing to the elderly sick and disabled only he killed them quick with a bullet to their head ,these bastards want to watch them suffer first . Sound like a better America to you ? Sounds like a living hell to me !

Monday September 27, 2010, 1:20 am
I don't think this was at all unrealistic!! I think that what she was trying to say was totally sane and reasonable.....if you put the age of marriage down to about12, as it often was in Jesus' day! If people have the idea that they should stay chaste before marriage, that is a good thing FOR THEM. But to honestlyl think that most normally sexed people in our present day society are all going to be able to say chaste,... well... I don't think that bromide in the tea worksm dies it? They sure would need SOMETHING!! Mostly people have such raging hormones when they are young, that unless they are surrounded with Christian peers, with the same moral code... Forget it!! sex hormones and time, wait for no man! Thanks Michelle Michelle!

To Northern N.: I will do my darnest to not rant and be respectful to you. Do you actually believe, that anyone cares what someone did as a teenager? Ms. O'Donnell's witchcraft experience does not concern me, nor George Bush's alcoholism, nor President Obama's pot smoking. Most adults, care primarily, about how people behave AS adults.

Those, intelligent among us, do not particularly care for extremists. They are uncontrollable, unreliable and don't believe HALF of what they say. Rational thinking, be it on the left or the right, is the only direction that makes any sense. That translates to people who don't strictly follow a party line, but are capable of THINKING FOR THEMSELVES.

May I request, that you do that for yourself? You can dislike the message, without hating the messenger.

This woman is so unbelievably stupid it's hard to fathom anyone, even mindless Christians, would take her seriously. This is a very disturbed person, plain and simple. The fact that she has any supporters at all is an indictment of our society for our failure to properly identify the number of mentally disturbed people who are permitted to roam freely among us.

This is why there has to be separation of church and state to protect us all from radical fanatics like this woman.

I don't agree with your last statement Gary but I do understand why you said it. These people should be allowed to roam free in our country but they never should be allowed in the political arena.

It's sad that a 'young' women in her 'thirties' still identifies herself as a 'kid'. I quote, Kids are not dogs in heat. WE are human beings...."

Ms O'Donnell you cannot be a kid at the age of thirty, nor twenty, nor 18. If this is the image she has of herself why should she be given a role with any political power ? I don't mind anyone of any age believing in Santa Claus, myself included. I do mind someone over the legal age of responsibility identifying with those who cannot be held responsible for moral and ethical judgments.

I am not currently able to view this video, but I get the basic idea from reading everybody's comments. I am all for teaching and advocating abstinence until marriage, and then manogamy thereafter, but we need to be realistic. Not everybody will follow these ideas. I, along with everybody in my school, was taught these very principles. We were also taught about safe sex and contrception at the same time. Even so, I know of at least five girls from my class that ended up pregnant before they graduated, including myself. Making these things illegal will not stop them. I am a believer in Christ, and I am proud of this, but too many so-called Christians would like to take away the very free will that God has given us all. I am not an expert on the Bible, as I am still growing and learning in my faith, but I do know that, as a Christian, I am supposed to treat all others with love, kindness, and respect whether they agree with my beliefs or not. Too many people who claim to be believers do not follow these basic rules, and in doing so, hurt, offend, and push away the very people they should be caring for as a brother or sister.
