This 18th-century iron shackle was recently recovered from the wreck of the Queen Anne's Revenge, which belonged to the infamous Caribbean pirate Blackbeard.

The First Mate on Blackbeards ship, apparently made the following announcement one day. He told the slaves that he had some good news and some bad news for them.
The Good news was that at midday they would get double rations.
The bad news was that in the afternoon, the Captain was intending to use the ships rowing boats to go water skiing.

It is kinda creepy tho' interesting. Weren't they kind to wrap the metal in fabric to prevent chaffing? Pretty harsh times I think but good to learn about. Thanks for posting Giana.
