HuffPost on Syrian conflict from July 20, 2013. Syria in disarray, even before chemical weapons were used by Assad. Ongoing conflict causing injuries to the innocent, including children.

The wars that begun in 2001 have been tremendously painful for millions of people in Afghanistan, Iraq, and Pakistan, and the United States, and economically costly as well. Each additional month and year of war will add to that toll. Moreover, the human costs of these conflicts will reverberate for years to come in each of those four countries.

As sad as I am for the people of Syria, and even more so for the children, the truly innocent in all of this, we as a Nation just can't continue on with going into more military actions. Washington acts like it's a walk in the park and won't cost our citizens anything. When we are taking funding away from existing Veterans and their families we can't go on in this manner.

Our missiles, no matter how well planned will only add to more bodies being pulled out of the rubble, many of them will be children I suspect. I don't want this Country to have any more blood on it's hands.

Please go to this link for a list of Petitions if you feel the way I do, we need to stay out of this Civil War. I'm all for humanitarian aid, diplomatic solutions, not missiles.

"even before chemical weapons were used by Assad"?????? There is now a wealth of info out there on this subject. The attack on Syria was begun by the thugs recruited trained paid armed by USA & cohorts i.e Saudis. Assad has the right to defend his nation.

Conflict in Syria has been going on for years. The chemical weapon attack was just the icing on the cake that has divided everyone regarding the war.

I don't want U.S to have any more casualties, but I'm not the decision maker, and Syria is on the other side of the world. It's just a terrible thing to learn how a leader treats their citizens.

Assad has chosen to kill these children, to destroy cities that each house thousands of people. These are the inexcusable acts of a brutal tyrant. Assad chose to use deadly chemicals on his own people, I have no feelings for him, let him crawl off and live in shame for the rest of his days.

I am reluctant to see the US get involved in yet another middle east conflict. We can not, will not resolve the many conflicts within these groups that are warring with one another and with Assad. I do see the point that Obama feels should be made, I think there must be a better way than just bombing, we have done this so many times and it does not end as anyone expects.

The children always pay the heaviest price when adults can do nothing more than raise a weapon.

Kit Obama's, Saudis,Qataris& Turkey's paid thugs (Proxy puppets)have been shooting, bombing, firing missiles, killing, beheading,& eating Christians & Muslims and children alike, pillaging thru Syria to make way for their masters take over to get to Iran. The thugs themselves have admitted mishandling the chemicals given them by the saudis. Its down on record. You yourself noted the story about the Christian village of Malloula that i posted saved from the thugs destruction by Assads army. If you read that news you would also know they have lived there in peace, for 2000 yrs ...Catholics also. We know who started this and yet Assad is not allowed to defend his nation?? Lay the blame squarely where it belongs on the perpetrators for instigating these heinious crimes the repressive USA Regime & their cohorts!

Assad did no such thing as use chemical attack on his own people Kit! You must be listening to MSM news. Elderberry is correct in her comment! Please get your information where the truth is mentioned before accusing Assad of such terror! He is the good guy here & Obama is the evil wanting to attack Syria for no just cause! Parsifal has posted many links & video's to this fact in other websites. I will ask him to post some here for yours & other's peace of mind. Thanks.

Aloha Elderberry and Henriette, there is so much of misinformation about the Syrian war, which took twenty years in the making and almost the whole narration in the media reported about the war thorn country is based on a guy sitting in an office in London who hates Assad, however there are serious journalists on the ground but main stream would never cover their stories as it would portray a completely different picture of Syria but Kit and the likes are both full of hate against Dr Assad and would like more people killed for humanitarian reasons as articles like that are a whole fabrication to pour more fuel into the conflict and brainwash people to accept the Saudi - Qatari, Zionesia Apartheid state, USSA, Turkey war against a country, oilrich and without a Rottenchild banking system and spur on useful idiots to accept and agree upon a sound new military adventure against the PEOPLE of Syria, speak Libya2, Iraq2.

Oncoming is a huge war against not only Syrian population but the Lebanon, The Iran, apparently Russia and China will be involved as well, blocking the UN Security Council to wage a military agression against Syria which will have impact to the whole world, undoubtedly.

The Military Industrial Complex is in full swing to fulfill the demands of IsraHell and the other three Zionist entities as Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the USSA.

So far we have only seen a proxy war when cut-throat Islamist mercenaries killing the innocent in Syria, funded and trained, equipped even with heavy weapons by Saudi Arabia, Qatar and US taxpayers money... The Form Of Democracy in Syria is defending its homeland before the insidious forces raging in Syria but of course have nil impact to the Zionist owned landscape of media and their narration who is to blame when civilians die in beloved Syria, therefore it is essential to get the information required to draw the greater picture and develop compassion for the people of the country by reading alternative media but some people here decided to get brainwshed as consumers of the Zionist-owned media which only knows one target to imply terror to the whole humanity and let the Banxters behind this war escape unhampered,

- as usual.

This network is full of hatred against Syria and to found agreement for miliary intervention to bring down an other country which only strives to be free.

When we hear the sentence:

'activists said'

I would recommend - forget it - it is a blatant lie and constructed false information, but send a blessing to the poor remainders of Syria fighting against foreign insurgents for nearly 29 months

How the Obama administration justified the impending war against Syria:

It is indeed in their eyes a 'civil war' and not an invasion of terrorists to overthrow the Syrian government on behalf of the Saudis.
Summing it up, then the argument of the White House looks like this:

Because the 'bad' Syrians (Assad) have killed the 'good' Syrians (rebels aka cut-throat terrorists), now the Americans have to mass murder the innocent Syrians (civilians) with bombs and missiles, so after the 'good' Syrians (which are in fact mostly foreign Jihad-mercenaries) can even more kill the 'bad' Syrians as they do now.

Sounds perfectly logical, right ?

Elderberry, Henriette & Parsifal, I agree to disagree with your comments. Maybe you want to hear lies, but I know what I see & that is not in your perspective. Sorry, but you lost me on this issue. Parsifal, 9/11 is was indeed caused by an act or acts of terrorism, so if you don't agree on that issue, then I can see your point in disgust.
Don't need to comment on this since since the upcoming days will determine fate of actions of many. Don't worry your little heads of! There has to be change in this world for the better & for real peace. Not an illusion of this will pass, but this will be a real gem, not of glass or stone but precious stones that one one can see.

it does absolutely not matter what you think or not think Dianne.

Interestingly, I completed a blog today, which sums it up nicely and included 9-11, the mother of all conspiracy, the watershed, the beginning of real and sound fascism and police state and the surveillance state, the ignition of islamophobia - the so called war on terror.

The logic of the illogic of U.S. war policy The U.S. regime pretends for a long time, rational arguments, logic, and the Law does not count for them.
America's actions can not be explained by normal scales and are completely contradictory.
At the latest, all started with the wars against Afghanistan and Iraq.
As many common people think I thought at that time in 2002, WHAT exactly has 9-11 to do with Afghanistan and Iraq ?
Why America fight war against these countries, when 16 of the 19 alleged terrorists come from Saudi Arabia and Osama bin Laden, accused the head of the operation, was also a Saudi ?

you mentioned:

'Parsifal, 9/11 is was indeed caused by an act or acts of terrorism, so if you don't agree on that issue, then I can see your point in disgust'.

Agree, 9-11 was an act of terrorism.
Only we might differ on the terrorists who caused FOUR towers to collapse in freefall.
(the 4th tower was the custom building, actually the first building to pulverize when the North tower was hit)

It may be hard to believe for folks the own government would stage such an event, killing almost 3000 of its own people.
Specially hard to believe for this kind of people, depending on major media to receive their daily programming...
These are kept in the dark and fed with B.S. - like the mushrooms.

Dianne, you seemlessly subsume in the ranks of the ignorants, of the war addicted and unkindly people.

I am really tired discussing 'condescendingly people', specially when it comes for 'a change'.

Namely, this change will be WWIII:

Just basic logic would say that if the gas was taken from Assad and used, he would have been reporting this use of chemicals by his enemy. He did not, rather he continues to deny it was used. Yes, I have read many different articles about the possible culprits in all of this, even the crazy conspiracy articles that lack any shred of evidence but are absolutely certain each have the answer. They fail to convince me that is any thing but just what it appears to be.

Assad seems unafraid of any form of retaliation by the world for his abysmal treatment of his own people for years. He has the backing of Russia and feels quite content with that.

Parsifal, I really have not found anything you have ever offered as factual and truthful. I do not hate Assad, I barely think about the man. My feelings are for the children of all conflicts created by humans.

Be very careful in using the words, "Assad has a right to defend his country" those can be quickly turned against many of your past arguments when you have claimed that other countries have no right to self defense.

And, please Dianne, explain to the readers why far over 70% support Dr. Bashar Assad -- and the number of Syrians supporting him is continuously increasing...

You think it's a good idea to rape the country ?

Even the dumb-down media is waking up and facing for a precious but unexpected moment the truth about Syria check out Dianne --

This issue obviously is causing a big divide. I don't want to see any more casualties of any war, so whomever causes this or any war to happen, doesn't have my approval. I'm for peace, but I can only sign petitions, not make the final decisions. Enough said. Freedom of speech is a given. Have a nice day.

Well said, Kit.

I've more than a suspicion that were the U.S. to support Assad in this war many who currently believe the rebels are the bad'uns would be passionately supporting them as freedom-fighters who were desperately trying to repel the imperialistic forces of the U.S. military machine and its despicable ally, Assad.... And, by the way, some things are indeed as easy to detect as a never-found-in-the-hunt Easter egg in June.

Maybe you should change your strategy, bashing Syria and have a closer look to Israel and it's stockpiles of WMD's, which of course the Zionesia Apartheid State does neither officially confirm nor allow to check by UN inspection teams

Human Rights Watch Misinformation on Syria
by Stephen Lendman
HRW and likeminded quasi-human rights/progressive groups and sources front for wealth, power and privilege.
Well-known corporate foundations provide funding.

They include Ford, Rockefeller, Carnegie, Soros, and MacArthur among others.
Money they supply is tainted. It's dirty.

Services rendered in return are required. Conflicts of interest are rife.
Information provided is cooked to serve them.

Followers are deceived.
They're betrayed.
NGOs like HRW, Amnesty International, and others like them are imperial agents.

From its 1978 beginnings, HRW delivered pro-Western/anti-Soviet propaganda. It's a reliable Western propaganda instrument.

Executive Director Kenneth Roth is a former federal prosecutor.
Former HRW head Aryeh Neier hired him.
He left to become president of Soros' Open Society Institute.

Deputy Executive Director for External Relations Carrol Bogert served as Newsweek's editor, correspondent and bureau chief.
Other past and present members have ties to sources representing US foreign policy interests.

AI operates the same way.
According to Francis Boyle:
"Amnesty International is primarily motivated not by human rights but by publicity.
Second comes money.
Third comes getting more members.
Fourth, internal turf battles.
And then finally, human rights, genuine human rights concerns."

Letter from the Syrian Parliament to Congress
The message, a letter from the Syrian Parliament was sent to the U.S. Congress, is completely concealed by the media.

Sure, this does not fit into the propaganda to always portray Syria negative and as dictatorship.

What ?

They have a parliament, consisting also of opposition ?

The deputies are elected by the people ?

This must not know a Western audience.

They have to keep on believing, Assad is a tyrant, absolute ruler, eats children, so we can bomb Syria to the Stone Age without scruples.

The key message of the letter reads, Syria and the United States have a common enemy and have to stick together.

It is the extreme ideology of the Saudi Wahhabism, which financed the terrorist organization Al- Qaeda and support the terror attack on America on September 11, 2001 and carry out terrorist acts carried out for 2 1/2 years in Syria.
