4 days: that’s how much time the general public has to tell Secretary of State John Kerry that the climate disaster Keystone XL pipeline isn’t in our national interest. HUH? The State Department is tasked with making a final recommendation on whether Keystone XL is in the national interest – and they’re legally obligated to take public comments for a short period of time. HOW? Those are your public comments that they’re obligated to read and respond to – but they don’t exactly advertise that fact. WHY? When NASA’s legendary climate scientist James Hansen says exploiting Canada’s tar sands oil will be “game over” for Earth’s climate, then, yeah, we’re gonna say a 3000-mile pipeline full of the stuff isn’t exactly in the national interest. We promise that if you submit public comments, we’ll make them go as viral as we can – but before we can make your public comments loud, we need you to submit them. Join us.

15,191 signatures out of our goal of 20,000

Petition reads:

Dear Secretary of State John Kerry: The Keystone XL pipeline is a carbon bomb that's not in the planetary interest, much less America's interest - I urge you to stand on the right side of history, Secretary Kerry. [Add your own short public comment below.] Complete the following to sign, and add in your own short public comment below - we'll pass it on.

Please do remember to leave your thoughts on the comment section.

signed via email, noted now. Thanks for posting Kit. I heard the combined efforts of environmental groups to post comments opposing it is at least close to one million at this point--a worthy target.

Done, thanks, my friend. We have too many natural disasters; like Earthquakes, Tornadoes, Floods, Hurricanes, Wildfires, etc., that can damage this monster and Destroy vast areas of OUR Country FOREVER!

No Ketstone XL Pipeline Secretary Kerry. The study you received and gave to the President was done by a company who has a conflict of interest in this area and can only gain by agreeing that this pipeline is safe. Take a look at a true map of the aquifer where the pipeline has not yet been built. Did anyone consider the daily earthquakes that have been going on in Oklahoma from the extensive fracking.?? This is our heartland...our bread basket! Do you want to be known as the guy that ruined our commodities, our water, and our land?? Please do the right thing for the American public. You are telling the Russians to respect the sovereignty of the Ukraine, then that should also apply to our Native Nations in the United States! I could go on and on, but I know you have other pressing work. I just remember you saying as a senator on the floor "the American people should come first before the corporations" etc.

The XL pipeline is a short sighted idea, motivated only by money and will bring us nothing but misery.

Ros - Bill Murray is an American actor and comedian. I believe his career began on Saturday Night Live, but he has starred in many movies. In my opinion of the greats. When I think of Bill Murray, I remember; Stripes, Caddy Shack, Groundhog Day and of course, What About Bob along with his excellent portrayal of FDR in Hyde Park on Hudson.
