The GOP's Dirty War

US Politics & Gov't  (tags: americans, congress, democrats, elections, government, republicans, usa )

Only a year ago, the Republican Party had been given up for dead. Top GOP strategists despaired that their party -- decimated by two consecutive bloodbath elections -- was leaderless, dominated by Southern conservatives and lurching rightward into

The Democrats?
Or the country as a whole?

I have noticed that the GOP works only in the negative - they criticize and spread the bad rumors, but they never ever have any answers to the problems, just more and more negative. The sad thing is that the American people buy into it instead of thinking for themselves. But in reality, I'm not sure which party to be more annoyed with - the Republicans for their lies and deceit or the Democrats for their spinelessness. How about starting a new party, Tim?

With all of their bellowing, just what has the GOP offered to the American people? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING BUT OBSTRUCTION! They should be known as the party of NO and don't count the Democrats out in the mid-terms. I am working in a state other than my own to unseat an incumbent who has sides with the Republicans and against the people of her state more times than not and on very important issues. Only time will tell if people will wake up to what has really been going on in Washington by the legislators elected by "We the People"! As far as Scott Brown's election is concerned, I wouldn't take that as a sign of the times. Martha Coakley ran a very poor campaign. Brown's election is a result of Coakley's complacency. You just can't take anything for granted. As far as the members of the tea party group are concerned, I think the Republicans are trying to distance themselves from them even as I type this comment. Time will tell!

Neither the democrats or the republicans deserve to be in office. Boot them all out and put in someone who will fight the lobbyists and listen to the people! I've been a democrat since I first registered, but no more. They had an opportunity and they blew it. The republicans are worse, all they do is conspire to make the other side "look bad" and make things impossible in Congress. Obama choked when he didn't keep his word and change how Washington works; get rid of the lobbying. We need to stop this and bring government back to the people, not the corporations.

You cannot currently send a star to Arielle because you have done so within the last week.
Arielle, my friend,
rather than a third party,
how about outlawing the parties that exist?
So many of our Founders did not want ANY
political parties, because they were prescient enough
to see what would be happening this very day.
We need to abolish all parties, and have just individuals run for office,
without the backing of lobbyists, corporations, and special interests........
just the backing of fellow individuals.

Thanks for your comment, Arielle!

I think there are many of us that have the same sentiments expressed by Pastor Tim. We are sick of both parties, both are bought by lobbyists, corporations and special interest and neither are really helping the citizens, they are both making our lives worse. So, yes let's get rid of both and make lobbying, corporate and special interest influence and the Federal Reserve Cartel control over our economy ILLEGAL - not regulated- ILLEGAL because these are the real people controlling our country. I've always believed and tried to follow-"elect the person not the party," and don't just listen to what they are saying to you-do some research. I'm really sick of the "they're the bad ones, No-they're the bad ones....."

Thanks Huda A - everyone needs to know about the Bilderberg Group. Guess who are some of the people that go to meet with this group. People from the World Banking community (including those in the Federal Reserve) and some from our own government - all very secretive - all manipulating events globally.

The Democrats need to get nasty, just as nasty as the Republicans are being. First they have to line up the Blue Dogs, offer these moderate Dems some large concessions. For example, simply remove abortion from health care in the all together and say this: Surgical elective abortions will not be paid for with federal money. Put it in exactly those words. They and some of the Republicans willl come over. The liberals will be mad, but they will not become Republicans. Instead they will probably arrange for foundation money to cover abortions. Then call on the carpet the Republicans for every bill they supported and now say "no" to. Paint them as unpatriotic and an embarrassment to America. Get some really bad ads on TV. Support Democratic candidates openly and unabashedly unless they are dems in name only. Support particularly Democratic candidates for governor because of appointments they can make. Focus on any that have Congresspeople that are close to retirement or are illl. We do not need another Ted Kennedy fiasco. Push through health care and the repeal of Dont Ask Don't Tell BEFORE the ELECTION. If there is a likelihood of a Supreme dying or resigning, get a fresh, young one in NOW. We cannot risk a conservative Supreme.

End the war in IRAQ as rapidly as possible, pull out the troops. Start referring it as BUSH'S WAR OR THE WAR THAT DESTROYED AMERICA'S ECONOMY. Finally, any Republican politician who is caught with his pants down goes on the front page of the New York Times and Washington Post. Suggest that this is what Republicans believe about family values.

The bastards have got to be stopped. The President needs to stop seeking bipartisanship and just be as mean as the GOP is while he is still able. I think we need a strong an decisive president right now. The people will respond accordingly.

Some people might be surprised that as
a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ,
I am pro-choice. But, as Bill Clinton has said,
abortion should be "safe, legal and rare".
Still, that's another discussion for another day.
If removing abortion funding from health care will speed
it along, as Rep. Bart Stupak wants to do, then fine.
I can live with that.
Howerver, Barack Obama needs to become the kind of President that
Lyndon Johnson was, grabbing people by the lapels and shaking them until
their teeth rattle and saying "You're going to do it MY way!".
It's LONG past time for Obama to stop seeking "bipartisanship",
time for him to be the President of the United States, and get some things done!.........
unless he WANTS to end up like Jimmy Carter.

"The latest OCC's Quarterly Report on Bank Derivatives Activities shows that the total notional value of all types of derivatives held by all US banks is 204 Trillion dollars. They show that just five US banks own 97% of them. They are JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citi, and Wells Fargo with HSBC in 6th place. If the US government budget is 3.8T$ and governs a 10T$ economy yet five commercial banks control 198 T$ of derivatives who do you think really runs the country?"

The corporate media has been playing this game of democrats for ten years. Then republicans for ten or twelve years while keeping viable third party candidates from contending.

Meanwhile, corporations flood the parties with money to dilute the American peoples need for real representation. The peoples agenda has been betrayed by the democrats and the republicans don't even make any promised. They just attack everything the democrats do.

While this back and forth between the two parties are taking place; Americans are being thrown out of their homes, losing their jobs, disabled in wars, dying from lack of health care, miseducated in schools, made unhealthy from foods, put into debt by banks, and generally taken advantage of by this system.

You look in others countries like Greece, France, Asia; the people take to the streets. To the tea parties credit, this is what they have done. Unfortunately, it is led by racist media inspired individuals like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity who are anything but grassroots.

Surrounding Obama is a bunch of warm over Clinton leftovers like summers, Emmanuel, Geithner, and Clinton herself. Put those together with the likes of Axelrod, the press secretary and you have a recipe for individuals still celebrating the election of Obama.

One extreme usually breeds another. Surround yourself with egotistical, self interested, and materially oriented people like Obama has; you pay the price of suffering the fallout of your decisions. Brace yourself for a long three years.

I hate to say it but I really do agree with Huda! Maybe it is just as insane to believe the New world order is trying to take over but I do believe this has been in the works for quite some time. All arrows pointing towards it you know. I think both the parties are as messed up as I have ever seen. Both parties have defectors and I think it is way past the party lines now. They are just plain mixed up and insane with frustration. I am surprised the furniture hasn't started flying!
The GOP is a party of bullies plain and simple and I think the Dems better get their gloves out and start fighting back hard!! meanwhile what else is there to do they are not listening to us on the left hand side and Obama seems to have forgotten what side he is on anymore. He has to stop bowing to those bullies and get a backbone or we, the earh and the animals are doomed! Thanks Pastor Tim

Ah, those darn Bilderbergers. From PrisonPlanet:
It is precisely that exclusive roster of globally influential figures that has captured the interest of an international network of conspiracists, who for decades have viewed the Bilderberg conference as a devious corporate-globalist scheme.

The fulminating is aggravated by Obama’s preference for surrounding himself with well-credentialed, well-connected, and well-traveled elites. His personnel choices have touched a populist, even paranoid nerve among those who are convinced powerful elites and secret societies are moving the planet toward a new world order.

Their worldview, characterized by a deep and angry suspicion of the ruling class rather than any prevailing partisan or ideological affiliation, is widely articulated on overnight AM radio shows and a collection of Internet websites.
And what about the Rothchilds, the truth about 9/11, Jewish money determining US politics, extraterrestrials secretely mating with human women? So much to worry about>

Yes Pastor Tim---like Clinton and like our born again Baptist Sunday School teacher Christian President who the Religious Right could not stand, Jimmy Carter, also said abortion should be safe, legal, and rare. Legislating morality only creates criminals. And I will tell you something else. You are not the only Christian or pastor who believes that way.

And yes, the President needs to get his fists up and into his fighting mode before it is too late. I thought he might one time when he reminded Congress that he won. Americans admire a scrappy politician. He is being too mannerable and dignified for his own good.

If the people of the USA want to get what surveys show that most of them want (e.g. free health care, a decent education system, no more imperialist wars), then they won't get it by supporting the capitalist political parties ("Democrats" and "Republicans"). They will only get it by supporting political parties which have those policies: the Greens and socialist parties.

Democrats lost me, when they told me WHO my vote would go for in Michigan, during the past primaries of this last election. That woke me up faster than a new york second. I have really distanced myself from the Dem Party, after being a loyal Dem all my life, when I was continuously attacked by others who were still loyal to the Dem Party. I was called a racist, a Republican, and more just because I no longer embraced the Democratic ideology. I wasn't alone. I did vote for Cynthia Mckinney, in the election.

In addition, those like me who left the Democratic Party, aren't running to the Republican party. However, I don't think all Republicans are bad, as Ron Paul really tries to do good as a politician. Will enough people "wake-up" from this illusion of the two big parties, to bring change to our country, our people, our children????

I have hope, and will continue to inspire others to UNITE as ONE NATION, and then we can ripple out our positive energy to the global community. Pain and suffering will continue in our nation, until "we the people" UNITE within our similarities.

WOW! Is there misinformation flying here or what???? GOP doesn't have any answers?? They have submitted BILL after BILL that just gets trounced instead of taken seriously! WOW! The And thanks dems for voting down our $250 check since SS didn't get an increase for the first time in decades! All because they said the cost of living didn't go up. Didn't think to include medical or pharamcy in that did ya? Yeah, thanks a lot dems for not being democrats anymore! You've turned into PROGRESSIVES!

Those who believe Obama inherited the mess he has, go to ANY stock site that will show you historical data and put in from 1990 to present. See that HUGE dip in 2007. That was when the dems took control of congress. Don't believe they caused it? Who was spending the money? CONGRESS. Bush didn't write executive orders to bypass congress on spending. Look at the voting history on the spending bills. Whose name is on the YEA SPEND MORE MONEY WE DON'T HAVE .... Obama. The facts are there plain as day.

I'm NOT defending Bush or the Republicans in office! The GOP is turning into DEMOCRATS! I am just trying to bring out truth where it's absent. There is injustice, coersion, corruption all through both parties! And you think the DEMS/PROGRESSIVES will win again because "we the people have spoken"? Have you taken a look around the country? Obama couldn't win an election today if Mickey Mouse ran against him! People have figured out just what kind of change he meant, since no one bothered to ask beforehand, and THEY don't like it! Are you not reading BIPARTISAN polls? Are you not checking outside your comfort zone for the other side of the story? Like the media telling people it was the republicans who blockied the $250 checks! THEY LIED! It was a REPUBLICANS BILL! They said Obama was for it. THEY LIED! The Democrats voted it down with 9 dems saying YES. All others said NO, plus 9 RINOs.
If all you do is just spread the same ol' stories that Obama and the media want you to hear, then you will get exactly what they want you to have. A HUGE government that will take more than it gives! It has happened all through history people. Our Founding Fathers wanted to get AWAY from that! And here we sit with a progressive in office with self proclaimed communists, marxists and socialists! Obama said to judge what kind of person he is by those who he surrounds himself with. He said that on the campaign trail. That means he's a communist loving, socialist agending president. Progressives have been trying to take over since the 1930s. Their documentation at that time said VOTE PROGRESSIVE, VOTE COMMUNIST! They have finally taken over the democrat party and THAT is a disaster for this country!

I agree with you Tim, and I've been saying it for years. We need to abolish parties and make people stand on their own platform! Get rid of parties, get rid of no term limits and the professional politician! And most of all, make sure there is a department like the police have, Internal Affairs, to make sure every politician is accountable for what they do!

The way things have been run in this Country is a travisty. I for one feel that the parties, both, should be tossed out as all they do is spend the majority of their time fighting, pointing fingers, and both get stuck in the quadmire so nothing moves.
The American people are hurting, people in other Countries are hurting for our failures, and it is high time that the Lobbyist are sent home, that people hold these offices that have the knowledge to do good by the people and not some special interests only, includes their own.
Why is it that only those of great wealth seem to be able to run for most of the political offices? The money that is spent on these elections are horrific, and the well heeled who mostly can afford to run are out of touch with the majority of hard working people. I know President Obama said his Momma was on food stamps, but when you get into office and are surrounded by the same political people who have played the same games it is easy to be swayed by them, become one of them, or loose sight of you initial get surrounded with this plastic bubble of sorts.
Term limits, prevention of so much money to sway those in office or who they feel obligated to for having helped them into office would cut down a lot of special interests power. I do not see an end in sight unless some major transformations come along. Too many who hold power hate to see this type of change, each looks at their own personal little comfy spot in the power grid and hates to give up their little piece of the pie.

Sunday March 7, 2010, 7:36 am
I beleiive, beginning especially with the Reagan administration, our politicians have sold America to the corporations in return for compaign contributions, corporate jets, oversea expense paid conferences, getaways, and whore parties.

The supreme court vote is a signal from the corporations that the downpayment in the form of bribing politicians entitles the corporation to our whole political system.

Now the politicians are up in arms and are saying to the corporations, you are going too far. The corporation responds that, I have paid you billions over the last thirty years and am entitled to the entire system.

Notice how many politicians are going down lately; some over very trivial matters, others set up, and others simply forced to resign. The corporate media is sending a message that if you don't play ball and honor all the compaign money given to you; you will go down.

Now that the politicians have sold out the people, who is left to defend them? Are any of the politicians you know worth saving. Didn't the politicians allow the corporations to throw people out of their jobs, out of their homes, deny the people health care because of pre existing conditions, and allowed the corporations to exploit us on many different levels.

Our system belongs to we the people, regardless to how much the system has been trashed and misinterpreted. Our politicians belong to us, regardless to how much they have turned into snakes. We have no choice but to do our best to get control of and transform our system for the better. If not, we will continue to suffer, and our suffering will be compounded the longer we wait.

There is a "new world order" is right, if indeed you wish to call them that!

I call them, the remains of Bush and Co.

This bunch stole the election threw their friends in the oil business, and beleive me it is big, and goes as far as their friendly middle east.

Which left the white house, congress, but the courts, justice dept, and the penagon in the lobbiest blackmailing business and has kept them in "silence!"
While the American people are broke and left unemployed....

Obama seems incapable of getting the country out of the dirty business that the former government pushed them into.....the alternative, is not to put back another republican government, this would be the one thing they are depending on, after they deny Obama's government able to govern, and you can see the results he is having.....he cant make a move, they cannot block!

Michael Austin (51)
Sunday March 7, 2010, 1:20 pm
I think it would be very wise to learn how our govt actually works. Who is responsible for the budget? NO, it is NOT the president! It is CONGRESS. Unless a president, such as Obama, writes executive orders to bypass congress! Thanks to the freedom of information act, you too can go online and find out just how many executive orders have been written and for what. PLEASE, read it yourself rather than believing the tripe being fed to you!

Bush was a RINO, as many these days are. He supported progessive ideas in his last term that DEMOCRATS were against! When Obama was elected, all of a sudden they are for the SAME THINGS BUSH DID, only on a grander scale!

There is a huge problem in America today were people feel "entitled". You are not guaranteed happiness or success. You have the right to PURSUE happiness. You are entitled to freedom, not goods. Health care is a good, which means it costs money. Anything that costs money is considered a "good". Our federal government has stepped in WAY over their boundaries as per the Constitution. It is the STATES that have the right to mandate laws such as health care. A couple of states have tried providing free healthcare. The most recent being Massachusettes, who is going BROKE because of mass healthcare. That should be a lesson learned, but sadly it is not.

Yes something needs to be done about the costs of healthcare and prescriptions. Mass healthcare and gross mishandling of the budget is NOT the answer! Here is another thing to consider, please do your own research instead of believing media, Obama or left wing sites, check out cancer related issues in women in countries that provide healthcare. Look for ovarian cancer, breast cancer, etc. It is NOT a pretty picture in gov't run healthcare!

If we are to succeed as a strong country, the people need to become more aware of what the government is doing, where they overstep their boundaries, and hold them ALL accountable for the votes and their actions. To do so requires more learning that what you recieved in high school gov't or in college. If you are TRULY interested in what is happening, what can happen to you and your family, who to blame for what, look at our own history, dig deeper than the surface. The answers are there and are only going to be learned through your own studys. Too many people are spreading rumors, factual errors and just plain ignorance to how the American gov't is supposed to actually work. Our Fore Fathers warned us that this day would come if people became to complacent and ignored gov't. As an American you have the RIGHT and the DUTY to pay attention to the gov't and what they are doing. You must hold everyone accountable for their actions!

BTW, LBJ was a horrible president. Study his term in office and you will discover why he only had one term. He's best known for being a liar and "snake oil" salesman.

Sunday March 7, 2010, 3:55 pm
Michael- please tell me two progressive idea's George w.Bush had in his last term in office. I hope you don't say privatizing social security into the stock market. This country was destroyed beginning with Reagan and ending with G.W.Bush.

Also, unless you were born disabled, each of us are born healthy and have a right to remain so. Why should it cost us for good health. We have a right to not be victimized by crime, a right to clean air, a right to clean water, and a right to good clean food. It's only profiteering corporate types who think that they have a right to exploit those based on their needs.

Mass health care is not making us go broke. It is insurance companies paying some jerk millions of dollars to act as a middleman between the patient and the government by skimming off money from the government but adding nothing to healthcare. Politicians protect this because the politicians are receiving lucrative kickbacks in the form of compaign contributions.

The average person know how government is supposed to work and realize that they are getting exploited and it's not just because of ignorance, it's mainly because of greed, and the inability of people to mount serious protest like they in France, Greece, and other countries.

I agree with you that we have become to complacent. This is because the mainstream media has exercised a concerted effort to dumbdown the people with materialism, entertainment, oversexualization, consumerism, and miseducation. Leadership assassination hasn't hurt the rulers either.

To me capitolism is more like communism not the other way around.Michael A have you ever lived in a communist country? We are no way near communism! If the GOP has its way only white men will be free all the rest of this country which is becoming the majority by the way will be their slaves! We are not living in a small populated country anymore. in a few years or less the human population will number 7 billion! So your right wing ways will killoff most the of the population in this country and the rest of you rich white men will thrive. Sounds alot like the freemasons theory to me.

One thing missing here is the GOP's propaganda machine; mostly Fox news. If the mainstream media were required to report facts, undistorted and verified. Maybe we wouldn't be wasting our time discussing death panels and birth certificates. Free speech is okay for bloggers, but when your platform is millions of salivating idolers than I think there should be more accountability. Also, why aren't the 3 major networks challenging all this BS. Fear, hate and distortion... wasn't that Hitlers MO?

Chaz, my friend,
only our Lord Jesus Christ has the power
to "put Satan back in his cage". but that will happen.
In the meantime..........

"Woe to the earth and the sea,
because the devil has come down to you having great rage,
knowing that he has only a short time."
-Revelation 12:12

I believe God is testing us by letting the Repubs do all the evil they can and are. I am watching the demo's follow suit with only a handful speaking out for Americans. I will remember when another runs for President. as to their stand on humans. As far as the Stupak crap, I am furious. I don't mind not paying for abortion but this evil SOB is making it so women CAN'T EVEN BUY ANY INSURANCE for it. Not even seperate insurance. He wants ALL abortion illegal and this is wrong as it IS legal and in many cases very necessary. You need to watch this snake and listen to his bull tripe. If we as Americans keep sittin on our backsides, we will get what we deserve. So easy to complain but falls on empty ears in both parties. Under no circumstances will I ever vote republican again as I have always voted for the person, not the party. I am not supporting my own state senators after many years supporting them because of healthcare and their "pat" answers to my letters. They are both women. I am not supporting our democratic governor either as she has wasted monies, put our state in the hole (but we DO have a rainy day fund but only God knows for what rain) and now she is pushing for income tax and a raise in sales tax. She got the raise in sales tax, is taxing cigarrettes one dollar a pack, bottled water by the OUNCE, and pop but claims she isn't hitting the poor. Well, we once had great water but most have turned to bottled water. I can no long buy it or anything else she is taxing. Our cigarrettes are now over $60 a carton and this tax adds $10 to each carton. Our monies from the cigarrette companies did NOT go to curb smoking or help those stop. Just like our lottery monies were to go for education and didn't. I am SO done with her and told her so. How about you guys? Are you speaking up and making sure you are heard or just whinning to others? Love ya Tim, and thanks for your caring and love

Does it really matter. After the Supreme Court debacle the Republicans will secure their seats so they can compromise our rights to fill their pockets and it will be strictly by the book. They've finally cut out the pesky middle man . . . the voter and can now fill their already full coffers with our tax dollars and its all legal.

The corporations are destroying rights also Pamela. we must look at the real power behind these politicians.

Obama to the people..."I will always listen to you!"

yeah...riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. A lot of people bought that hog.

Micheal, I really wish you would learn your 'isms' before condemning or praising a person or catagory of people.l lived in a Communist country behind the Iron Curtain....Obama is certainly not a Communist or a Progressive or a Socialist. I AM a Socialist and the only other Socialist in the Senate is Bernie Sanders. (And yes, the Constitution and Bll of Rights can be upheld under Socialism!) But that is probably never going to happen in the Land of Greed and Self-Centeredness).

It is not Communism or Socialism that has and is continuing to destroy this country, Michael, it is F AS C I S M, or as Mussillini best put it, Corporatism. BOTH parties have been bought, neither are for the people anymore--haven't been for decades.

Under the Constitution we the people have the right to INVOKE ARTICLE V. Do you see that happening, Michael? The people, through their state assemblies, have tried to invoke Article V over 530 times--yes, 530+ TIMES!!!!!!! (Google it) It has fallen on deaf ears and been smothered in the media--you will never see it happen as long as the people do not take direct action. (And we all know what that is but we won't voice it here--but it's comming). But, I ramble.

Obama is no Progressive..or Communist...or even a Socialist. Obama is a very slick Corporatist (Fascist) trying to dress up the hog and sell it to an apathetic/shell-shocked/betrayed nation. One problem, people are waking up. Unfortunately, those that are awake are being highjacked by the very same forces that are already working for the demise of We, the People--and they are too willfullly ignorant to see it or are to blinded by their frustrations to care that they are being manipulated. Again, I ramble.

I'll shut up now.

You are always at your best when you're rambling! :-)

After Bill Clinton, the democrats haven't showed me much. And the Republicans, even less.
