'The US banking system is sound...' In an eerie echo of President Herbert Hoover in 1930, during a Presidential campaign against Roosevelt, following the stock market crash and collapse of numerous smaller banks, Paulson recently appeared.....

A lie of omission is still a lie,
and the Government continues to
lie to We The People.

The Real State of the US Economy?
It's the opposite of good.

I am so tired of being lied to. I haven't trusted the government for awhile now. How this country sickens me anymore. Noted. Thanks Tim.

I haven't trusted a public official since the Bill Clinton era...I just don't understand how they get away with this.

If you want to help our economy... Buy American.

First it was an OPEC stipulation that created the extra demand on our dollar. Recently several nations Bush labeled as "the axis of evil" rejected that stipulation and started selling oil in other currencies. Unfortunately, before it all fell apart, our trade balance was free to plummet out of control. Now because the foreign demand for the dollar is based on a 10-1 trade deficit instead of the need to buy oil, the dollar free falls. When we correct our trade balance our economy recover, but not until then.

If our leaders were honest about the real problems, they wouldn't have to demonize countries like China to change the peoples spending habits. I'm sure a good patriotic "your country needs you, here the problem, here is what we do" speech would be far more effective than stories about lead paint, tooth paste, and dog food. Boycott China for what reason?

It would be GRAND if we could find more products NOT made in China.

What's shocking is that there are adults that have 'ever' trusted the federal government - Vietnam should have taught everyone that.

They say there is no 'repression' or depression or whatever word they want to use this time around, but, something is going on. Lot's of foreclosures, prices up but not wages. And they don't want everyone going to their bank and taking all their moneys out. Telling us the truth is just not something the government does anymore. I do believe they are way off key.

Jeeeeeez Phyllis. "There was NO cigar"...It goes way beyond Clinton...It's all getting totaly beyond a joke. Could we introduce something fairly lenient like 3,000 lies and out Tim?...This lot would be well gone long ago I suspect...Onya mate!...

This country is awesome. Moral is pulled down by a few and masses suffer and pay the price. Fact of life, crap piles up until it is cleaned up, until then it rolls down hill. Seems the bases are loaded and we are playing catcher for big boys. It stinks.

There are people who are supposed to be
"in the know" who have been saying a there
ia coming an economic collapse in the US
that will make 1929 look like a kindergartner's
birthday party.
The collapse of the Soviet Union came ultimately
because they bankrupted themselves trying to keep
up with the US militarily.
Now, the US Govt. is doing the same thing to We The
People that the Soviets did to their people. The
United States spends more on it's military every year
than every other nation on Earth, combined. According
to the UN, there are 197 nations.
They still call it "The Dept. of Defense". With the largest
and most deadly military in the history of the planet, just
who the hell do they think they're "defending" themselves
Yet, every year, Congress gives the Pentagon something close
to $1 trillion, if you also count the "off the books"
expenditures. Most every other nation on Earth minds it's
own business and doesn't invade other sovereign countries
for no good reason. Most other nations are not belligerent
imperialists like the US.
Our economy would be in far better shape if DC would turn
it's vision inward, and begin to take care of the million
and one problems we've got going on here at home. If they'd
spend it on social programs to better people's lives, that
trillion dollars would go a mighty long way.

Govt. is hazardous to human health & welfare!

You know there really is still a chance for peace and that chance will definitely increase if we each do our piece. So letís make peace -- in our homes, in our own hearts, in our relationships, in our communities, in all of our dealings and in the world. Peace be with us all.

Obama and McCain talk tough, but only time will tell when one of them is elected if it he can also walk the walk and fix America.

Hey -- if there lips are moving, they're lying
(applies to 90% + of all politicians methinks)

And when President __________________ says "By leasing our armed forces to those nations that are losing the war for the New World Order, we can cut our deficit and do good at the same time" don't be surprised.

Why is it that the government is saying we are on the "brink" of a recession? For those who have been there and done that: WE ARE IN A RECESSION too bad the gov't. thinks we are all dumb and ignorant enough to be led like sheep to the slaughter. IT AIN'T HAPPENING IN MY HOUSE.

Cate there are websites that are dedicated to selling nothing but American-made merchandise. Google 'made in the USA' or 'American made' or 'made in America. There are tons of them. How do you think I keep from going to HellMart? LOL.

Our government lives in the Land of Oz (no, not Austrailia the other fairytale place) and they do not want us to pay any attention to the man behind the curtain. So they LIE to us. But it is not a lie to them--they ARE doing just fine in their own little world of graft, greed and corruption. Something to think about....90% of Congress (both House and Senate along with the Whitehouse crew) ARE MILLIONAIRES! They are doing just peachy. The rest of us 'little people' DO NOT MATTER to them. So yes, they think we are so dumb as to believe their fairytales from the Dark Side.

Lets see, an economic collaspe, a 51 to 49 percent victory for Mc Cain, alledged or real riots in the streets, marshall law. Where will you be on Nov. 3rd.

Our problems make the grossly rich no money, after all,all we isthe Chinese c**p thats shoved at us.War and it's equipment provide a huge fortune for all involved. If we would stop demanding the cheapest products ,and bought more American products(more expensive, yes)we could support our own economy and let China find a new bunch of saps to buy their junk. Are we willing and able, some of us maybe that can afford it,the rest are jobless because they wanted the best bargain, bought into the trap and now the Chinese ,Taiwanese ,Indians etc have their jobs. Can we go back, even a little way,I doubt it.We are so deep in and so interwined with these countries that we are their economy now.Ideas to help, buy less, buy local, buy green, drive less and slower, cut consumption of everything, buy our future and country back.
