Marion, IN - The current temperatures in this part of the country are brutally cold. To an emaciated dog, they can be deadly.

The person that rescued Journey is unable to keep him. Journey needs an adopter or a foster home. Anyone that can help is asked to contact Marie at ddbrepcoord@dogsdeservebetter.org.

If you can not help Journey directly, please take a moment to circulate his story and help to increase his chances of finding a forever family.

I can't believe someone would do this to an animal let alone a purebred! Are there any rescue groups specific to his breed that would take him?

To abandon this poor dog is despicable, but what can you expect from hunters who toss their dogs on a whim.
Only good hunter is a dead one.

I wrote to my brother who lives in lower Michigan on the east side of the state so who knows. He may be in Florida right now too. I am sure this pretty dog will get a forever home. Yes, Tori, I too have overweight dogs. They are four in number so they compete for who is the boss gets more. You should see me. LOL

English Coonhound rescues in the Marion, Indiana area may be a possibility. I'll google and see. And by the way, I don't think the article stated anyone abandoned the dog. The article speculated. State the facts please. I have found many a dog in the parks or street who ran off, jumped out of the yard, chased after a coyote, etc...Is the owner ultimately responsible? Why yes, they are. However, the owner did not abandon the dog willfully. Quit pulling at our heartstrings, and state the FACTS.

Posted Journey to myspace, FB & twitters with some reservations.
I know the term that dog won't hunt, but there is another possibility,, the dog ran away because of abuse and poor care:( There is an ole hound dog that comes here from time to time to eat. He doesn't trust anybody, has a deep fear, cowers, doesn't come often enough to get used to us. Poor soul only comes late at night. He's avoiding somebody in my opinion.

I wish I lived there because I would foster him in a heartbeat ~ Bless his Precious Heart ~ I pray someone gives him a loving home SOON ,God Bless his rescuer ! My daughter found a young pit bull that was nothing but bones trying to sit in one tiny spot that was not covered in snow shivering in 18 degree weather in an alley ~ She opened the car door and he ran & jumped in and she has been fostering him since she found him 3 weeks ago . She said he is the Sweetest fellow & is all filled out already and looking for a forever home too but she will foster him until he gets one ~ We can ALL make a difference in so many ways . I pray for them both to get Loving forever homes soon .

I have heard too much of these kind of stories, what is wrong with people? There was a local story out of Utica, NY,a city near my town, and a dog was tied to a picnic taable and left out all night in sub zero temperatures. Thankfully, the dog was rescued and the offender caught. A good ending for the dog, he will find a loving home, but so many others aren't that fortunate. Penalities for animal abuse should be severe and we should tell our representatives that we're tired of these abusive people getting a slap on the wrist.

What a sweet face this dog has....and you can bet he will be the most remarkable and loving animal ever to be in someone's home. Animals know who save them and are always grateful and loyal......I do think that animals have a higher order of thinking, and of feeling, and of heart, than most humans will ever know...excepting those of you on care 2 who know how animals love.....and thanks to all of you who unselfishly post, give, and send angels to those in the non-human-animal world.

I am so grateful this story had a happy ending - but seriously WHEN????? are we going to do something about all these abused and abandoned animals? I wonder, also, if this dog did not just become "lost"/separated from its' owner? Poor beautiful dog had clearly been starving for months and i am praying for him to find a great!!!! new home.

The pictures of that dog brought me to tears. He must have suffered terribly in that barn, cold, hungry and all alone. The pain he must have felt while laying down must have been excruciating as he didnít have enough flesh on his body to cushion his bones. Iím glad he was rescued and Iím sure he will find a loving home as he is such a gorgeous animal. Noted. Thank you Sophia!
