This Washington Post article is a long read but worth it. Get a peek at how "bizness" gets done in DC. AND - start pressuring your legislators to amend or get rid of the expansion - the new FISA bill only has a shelf-life of 180 days.

OK...if we pressure our legislators, MAYBE we can affect the future of the FISA expansion!

Thanks, Cate. How a bill got passed and making sausage....you don't want to look real close at either one, y'know?
I'm all for a big organised effort to pressure our Congress-critters. The FISA thing is evil, it's the American "star-chamber" and it needs to go.
Cate, if you want to petition or whatever on this, I'll partner with you. Whadya say, have you got another fight in you?

My Rep in Congress voted no on the FISA expansion, and so did all the other Senators from Massachusetts except for John Kerry who gave a lame excuse why he and 24 others did not show up for the FISA vote.

I mean Kerry's excuse was the lamest thing I ever heard. The bastard just didn't want to vote is all, so I hope his telephone and Internet connection is the first one that gets tapped by the NSA and BushCo.

Noted Senator Murry from Washington State was a no show too. Family obligations. She had a job to do that she didn't do. So much for the good Senator.

Yet another reason to break the Democratic-Republican monopoly on parties and get some new blood in here . . . folks, this country is badly in need of a tuneup and an overhaul, and not just on one side of the aisle . . .

The less snooping the Government does, the better, thank you. I'm glad they are going to take steps to protect us.

This is a 6 month stop gap measure. I am ashamed to say some of the people I see that voted for the expansion of FISA, I helped get them elected. No More. I may stay out of work but I will be asking some tough questions of any incumbent before I sign on the dotted line. I would suggest we all ask the tough questions of our senators and representatives before we cast our votes.
