More than 1,000 customers at this local Statbucks added extra money to their order payments to treat the next person in line. And the wonderful part is that all extra money collected will go to Starbucks' holiday toy drive. BRAVO for the human spirit!

Yes, Starbucks is great. I know several people who work there, and one who is a manager at a shop, and they all love it. Mr. Schultz, founder and chairman came from humble beginnings and he has not forgotten. EVERYONE, even if they are part time has health care benefits. If I'm going to spend money on a latte or mocha, it's at Starbucks. He treats his employees with respect.

I don't have any particular fondness for Starbucks (I think their coffee is lousy, but then again I don't drink much coffee anymore -- tea for me), however, this reminds me of a story -- when I would ride with my then boss out to Westbury, Long Island, a trip of anywhere from 45 minutes to two hours depending on traffic and weather conditions, and there were tolls on the Southern State (now finally gone) and he would pay the toll for the car behind him. At first it was for his son (who would be following us to work on some days), but his son would then pay for the car behind him, and soon it became a regular thing -- I have no idea if anyone else ever paid for anyone behind them, but I know a lot of people were woken up for a moment : )

Happy holidays everyone : ) -- Thanks for the article Cate, enjoy the day : )

Isn't this the same Starbucks who cheated those african coffee farmers out of receiving profits due them on coffees they had to work hard to grow and pick?
And isn't this the same Starbucks who put all those Mom and Pop operations out of business over the years? Bah humbug!!!

If those customers had really wanted to play nice neighbor they could've taken their business to the local coffee establishments and supported them instead of that overpriced behemoth.

Nolw THIS is one way to address that stress and pressure of life, society and a rotten gov't - do something good for somebody everyday - you'll feel good inside and your focus on "ain't it awful" will shift to a smile as will the person treated kindly by a stranger because it is SO RARE these days. We can do so much w/so littel! What a great idea! Noted
