Who knows? There's so much sweetheart dealing, kickbacking & other corruption in these military (and other government) contracts. All I know is I am boiling mad over these auditors being for telling the truth. RIPPED OFF AGAIN by our friends in DC.

The report does not name the projects or the contractors involved, but staff members on the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee who were briefed on the findings cited seven contractors, some of whom are among the biggest in the defense industry: Boeing, Northrop Grumman, Fluor, Parker Hannifin, Sparta, SRS Technologies and a subsidiary of L3 Communications.

This story is shocking enough on the face of it, BUT.....
Parker Hannafin is a corporation with it's HQ right here
where I live, in Greene County, Tennessee. I'd had no idea
they were a defense contractor. I'd thought they only
manufactured hydraulic equipment.

But, one thing is for certain:
If this story doesn't piss you off,
you must be in a coma.

Thanks, Cate.

Carole Sarcinello (338)

There are so many behind-the-scenes players that Halliburton is just one on the list. The country has become corporatized and is now owned by the campaign contributors and big money interests who "bought" the elections, and the press that reports on them.

Add to that pharmaceutical companies, Blackwater, the Federal Reserve...

Tim R--- absolutly right-----if you are not pissed off you are in a comma or selfish enough to think that paying attention really doesn't matter. I have a hard time talking to people around me about this stuff because I must be surrounded by the wrong people. It seems like a constant battle to fight this self imposed ignorance. I really think people do not understand that EVERY action our "leaders" take effects us all.

I really do appreciate all of you who are taking a part in getting the news out and commenting on issues like this. It really gives me hope that there are great people out there who are paying attention and fighting this sheer ignorance. I feel privilaged to be talking with some of the most opened minds in the world. I look at all of you who are at least making the effort as a hero in my mind----------Thank You----------------

"Disciplinary Action" is de rigueur, if you don't do what you're told, life will be miserable for you after that. That's how the government works, by intimidation and subordination of people. Because many will cave and do what they shouldn't to keep their place in line. And government knows human nature and exploits it all the time. Along with ripping us all off all the time, de rigueur!!!

Kristopher, my strategy is to tell EVERYONE about Care2. Knowledge is Power, we need to lead them to it. I have learned soooooooooooooo much on here, anyone can!

Absolute Corruption noted, thank you Cate.

For all of you that are disgusted with "Grand Theft Pentagon", Your Tax Dollars At Work - Want to vent your "anger", "shock" or whatever...

Here is a petition requesting that the multitude of abuses KBR has been accused of, the U.S. Department of Justice has yet to hold them accountable.

Send an e-mail to the DoD's Chief Financial Officer, Tina Jonas, telling her not to give KBR a single penny until the Department of Justice completes a full, public investigation of KBR's abuses.

Cut KBR Off!
Despite the multitude of abuses KBR has been accused of, the U.S. Department of Justice has yet to hold them accountable. Meanwhile, the Department of Defense continues to funnel a ludicrous amount of tax dollars KBR's way. In fact, KBR remains the #1 profiting private contractor in Iraq.

Is this how you want your tax dollars to be spent? Contaminated water for our troops? Rape cover-ups? Tax-dodging and fraudulent timesheets, billed to the U.S. government? It's time for American taxpayers to speak out and demand that the DoD stop forking over money and contracts to these criminals. Send an e-mail to the DoD's Chief Financial Officer, Tina Jonas, telling her not to give KBR a single penny until the Department of Justice completes a full, public investigation of KBR's abuses.

Dear Ms. Jonas:
The Department of Defense has hired private contractors to support the activities of our military in Iraq. You are in the respectable position of funding these contracts. KBR has proven over and over again that they are not fulfilling the primary responsibility of these contracts: to support the military. As a taxpayer, I don't want my money going to fund KBR and their many abuses against our troops. While the Department of Justice continues to drag its feet in prosecuting KBR, I am asking you to withhold payment of KBR's contracts until they prove that they deserve the billions of taxdollars that they receive through their contracts. Don't pay KBR until the Department of Justice completes a full, public investigation of KBR's abuses.

It is an on-line petition/letter or you can use your own words if you like:

TY, Cate.

This is a form letter I received from one of my Senators, Diane Feinstein, earlier today:

Dear Ms. Phillips:

Thank you for contacting me to express your concerns about the National debt. I appreciate the time you took to write about this important issue and welcome the opportunity to respond.

Like you, I am very concerned about our Nation's increasing debt and the financial burden it will place on future generations. Our national debt now exceeds $9.4 trillion, which translates to more than $30,000 owed by every American citizen.

I believe a more concerted effort must be made to pay down the national debt and bring spending under control. I am committed to supporting legislative initiatives that will substantially reduce the Federal budget deficit. Specifically, I strongly supported reinstating the genuine pay-as-you-go (PAYGO) rules that helped balance the budget in the 1990's. By adopting PAYGO procedures, Congress is forced to pay for tax cuts and spending increases rather than simply borrow from future generations.

As our debt increases, so does our spending on the interest on the debt. According to the Congressional Budget Office, interest payments for the debt will be roughly $3 trillion over the next ten years, siphoning away funds that could be used for other priorities. It is my hope that Congress will work together to improve our budgetary outlook by enacting more fiscally responsible policies.

Again, thank you for writing. I hope you will continue to keep in touch on issues of importance to you. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact my Washington, D.C. office at (202) 224-3841. Best regards.

Sincerely yours,
Dianne Feinstein
United States Senator

I want to make a small contrast here...Julie Amero is being held in legal limbo for having done nothing wrong, yet our own government tolerates - and encourages - the most egregious crimes. Where is truth, justice and the American way?

I can remember reading some time ago that there was money given to Haliburton which could not be accounted for. It seemed to have disappeared. There was never anything mentioned in the media about it since then.
I also want to add that I agree with Maggi. Nothing that Nixon did compares to this current administration. The media is very selective on who gets dragged through the mud. Clinton was dragged through the mud over something that was personal and really did not affect us. George W. Bush is not dragged through the mud over things that do affect us.

I'd be pissed off that Sen.Feinstein's office
called you "Ms."

Jim Phillips (3247)
Thursday July 24, 2008, 10:46 am
I saw that the note was addressed to "Ms." A typo, most likely as it has never happened before.

"pissed off"...

I have gone way beyond "Pissed Off" with this current administration... I'm not even sure if there is a single word to adequately describe for what I feel about this administration...

I worry if bush & the pukes getting another opportunity to nominate another Supreme Court Justice to the Supreme Court and what other damages he can do to this country, to the World before he leaves office... if he "leaves office"...

If I remember correctly, the stock in Halliburton has gone up 300% since bush & cheney came into office...

Between Haliburten[?] and Blackwater and numerous others, they sure are living high off the hog on your tax $$$, while making the Muslims even more angry at the USA and taking that anger out on the troops on the ground. Even though some of those troops are "bad apples" most are trying to do their [to their understanding] jobs to the best of their ability.

War -- and rebuilding after one -- is a money-maker for certain businesses.

Unfortunately, this government is aligned with those corporations, much to the demise of its citizens and their children -- whose lives and/or future mental stability, are being sacrificed -- along with the financial security and international integrity of this nation.
