Putin: War Has Started

World  (tags: Russia, Georgia, war, tanks, Easterm Europe, invasion, Putin )

Russian tanks are rolling deeper into Georgia. That country's president, Mikheil Saakashvili, accuses Russian of a "well-planned invasion. From Beijing, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin declared "War has started." Will this be another Czechoslovakia?

Looks like Russias' "president not-elect Putin", (ah la Cheney pulls Bushs' chain)...Had every reason to look so smug when waving to his 'troops' at 'the games' opening ceremony...He had other things on his mind!...Wonder why he didn't invite his dummy, Saakashvili, to accompany him to the olmpics?...

Fortunately don't remember much about Putin speaking out about 'human rights' in China...Maybe not a hypocrite, just another murdering war-monger?...

Kill, kill, kill...Oh god which channel is 'I love Lucy' on???

And now the truth will out ! With a collapsing economy, (sounds familiar) and wanting to regain some of it's more aggressive and active former territories this does truly bear watching. As in our own case, this is most certainly not the end of the story. Thanks Cate for a GREAT heads up with this article.

Did Stalin attempt genocide on them? I'm staggered to hear this awful news. And my husband just doesn't get it. Says it a wonderful world now because oil dropped below $130 a gallon and life can now go on as usual. I'm not sure how to handle this. Married for 31 years and suddenly I'm living with a stranger... National new spent more time showing clips of the opening fireworks display for the olympics, discussed how impressive it was..and how the number eight, a lucky number, brought out record numbers of couples getting married..then on to Georgia as if this was an after thought...Yes the military consumes tremendous amounts of fuel, and it's a monster that constantly needs to be fed over the basic needs of the rest of thee world's population

David Gould (155)

Sadly the sound of jackboots didn't stop in 1945. While the world's eyes are focused on the Olympics it seemed a good time to invade a country...only surprised that shrub thing you have over there didn't think of it...he will be sitting in the opening night kicking himself muttering under his breath..."Why didn't I think of that..." all these war mungers are alike...but the peace movement is going to sweep them all away...we too are marching and our song is by john lennon...Imagine that

Wow, more world history being written while we watch, horrified, from the sidelines. Years ago, my father served in the military with a Russian man who had moved to the states with his parents when he was 6. I remember, clearly, a conversation he had with my dad: Never trust the Russians. The time will come when they will seem like allies, but it will never be the truth. The year? 1970. Just food for thought....thanks, Cate!

Just googled the location. Much has changed since I went to school. I remember reading something about this long before 9/11 or just after. They've wanted to put a pipeline through Turkey for years, not just oil, but natural gas. I'll see if I can find it, I believe I lifted the magazine from the Doctors office. So I wouldn't have pitched it, it's a souvenir. Well, back to Hannibal Lecture and the Red Dragon.

Planet War.

2011/12, Massive Earth Changes, The Cleansing, an Asteroid, Planet X, the Dark Star, Pole Shift, Gaia, please hurry up and stop life AS USUAL. Then, each person will actually have time to think! So we can think up, lets say, A GARDEN OF EDEN! It's here, under all mankind's folly!

Most everyone would lay down their weapons if they could just have BASIC HUMAN RIGHTS. OK, Bush, Cheney, QE, they probably wouldn't lay their weapons down, we'll just have to take 'em away! When we are all on the same side worldwide against the real perps of DEATH, the real instigators hiding under the "Life" Banner.

Isabella -

What makes you think it is the responsibility of the USA to be the caretaker of the world?? We have our own problems here at home we can not even solve on a timely basis, and you are saying we have to sent aid and/or troops worldwide to help people who may not want or need our help in the first place. Sort of like Iraq and Afghanistan.

Don't get me wrong, there are parts of the world that truly do need help from anyone who will give it, and we probably could do more. My own personal feeling is that we need to clean up the mess in our own back yard before we take on any additional causes.

Exactly!! Barry Seth - I was sarcastic!

The US really should simmer down and take care of their own internal problems, rather than side tracking everyone's attention to the "bad" others, while trying to boost economy through war industry. The US have been bled dry when it comes to their own people.
Not to speak of - which actually puzzles me - a complete lack of knowledge - when it comes to history and cultures of the countries they are envolved with.
Russia is best buddies with China and China - are they not trying to become brothers with the Sudan - and what role plays Bush in China and Gerorgia - afterall he was the first foreign head of state who officially visited the new-born segregated state. What about Georgias gold deposits as well as iron and I think copper ore? Could it be the interest lies there? Everyone sitting happyly around the big pond and swatting mosquitos ....

Barry Seth (118)
Saturday August 9, 2008, 3:30 pm
Terrie - That is a terrific movie. Unfortunately, Micheal Remy would end up destroying us all.

Isabella - Bush can't think of more than one thing at a time. If he does, it hurts his head. The reason Bush went to Georgia is for the oil. The pipeline they have over there ends at Georgian ports on the Caspian sea.

PUTIN'S CHOICE: Flyswatter or Blunderbuss

Washington's bloody fingerprints are all over the invasion of South Ossetia. Georgia President Mikhail Saakashvili would never dream of launching a massive military attack unless he got explicit orders from his bosses at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. After all, Saakashvili owes his entire political career to American power-brokers and US intelligence agencies. If he disobeyed them, he'd
be gone in a fortnight. Besides an operation like this takes months of planning and logistical support; especially if it's perfectly timed to coincide with the beginning of the Olympic games. (another petty neocon touch) That means Pentagon planners must have been working hand in hand with Georgian generals for months in advance. Nothing was left to chance.
