Very interesting article: Dr. Stuart has been in the frontlines of the fight to save the world's wildlife, much of it imperiled.

The conversation with Simon Stuart reinforces the facts,
regarding the extinctions that may come from poaching.

Thank you for this article Jill

Good one Penny! I'll hold them while you slap the bejeezus out of them. What a waste of a beautiful tiger. Nothing to bloody well smile about. So tragic. Thanks for this one Jill

You can protect animals everyday
(while protecting your health and the environment)
by ditching the meat habit.

That's YOUR choice.

Why is it that people get off to the destruction of beauty? This should not go unpunished. There are far too many instances of these gorgeous creatures dying simply because of people's ignorance

Buddhism affirms the unity of all living beings, all equally posses the Buddha-nature, and all have the potential to become Buddhas, that is, to become fully and perfectly enlightened. Among the sentient, there are no second-class citizens.

According to Buddhist teaching, human beings do not have a privileged, special place above and beyond that of the rest of life. The world is not a creation specifically for the benefit and pleasure of human beings.

Furthermore, in some circumstances according with their karma, humans can be reborn as humans and animals can be reborn as humans. In Buddhism the most fundamental guideline for conduct is ahimsa-the prohibition against the bringing of harm and/or death to any living being.

This is an excellent article and like Penny ryan above, I too want to do more than slap some sense into them... well... preferrably with a fully loaded AK47 or Kalashnikovs... I'm not fussed!

That said, I know only too well what Karma has instore for poachers. As they say... You reap what you sow and if an ignorant and greedy human keeps on sowing bad seeds... well don't expect a good future life.

I know that having satisfaction that Karmic retribution will be meted out, is not a Buddhist trait - I still have to admit that I wish I can see all the poachers and hunters suffering at the consequences of their bad karma manifesting
