If you ate produce from Hawaii, especially Asian vegetables and melons, between 2003 and 2005, chances are you were eating fruits and veggies grown by slaves.

Signed petition. I'm not sure by label reading how most people are to know if slave labor was used in the production of any crop other then by knowing which countries of origin to avoid. Hawaii is certainly not a place that most of us would consider as typical of an enslavement state.
Better immigration controls need to be enacted throughout the country to bring this crime to an end.

I signed the petition too- for some reason I thought slave labor was less likely to be an issue for foods grown in the USA. Sigh- how naive.

Remember that the Kingdom of Hawaii was forcibly annexed by the United States in a palace coup in 1898 by Sanford Dole and his friends.

Yes, THAT Dole.
