Dear Julie,

Since you posted this a month ago, I'm not sure if you'll ever read this comment. But I hope you do, so you have some idea of how grateful I am that you shared this particular petition. (I only wish it had another 9,000 signatures!! ; )

I am frustrated beyond belief with the majority of petition "letters" that consist of only one sentence. I don't think that demanding "Stop" this or "Ban" that will be effective without a supporting argument based on facts. Ideally, those details would then lead to a well-grounded, alternate resolution to the existing problem -- like this petition has done.

I'm also annoyed when I see an outdated petition, i.e., one that is useless, since the crisis has already passed/the matter has already been decided. Some just keep collecting signatures for a year or more after the fact.

Admittedly, some issues are ongoing ( e.g., live animal exports, the dog/cat/bush meat trade), but many are not. And if the petitioner doesn't deliver our signatures in a timely fashion, we're just wasting our time and energy.

Anyway, just so you know how much I appreciated your effort in posting this unique and impressive petition, below is my comment to NationofChange.

Thank you for this well-written petition! It is articulate, concise and - equally important - offers a simple solution to avoid the substantial loss of an extremely beneficial species.

Moreover, I not only appreciate how your organization regularly sends the petition letter to the target recipient, but also, how you keep signatories updated of said submissions.

Once again, I'm truly grateful for the opportunity to participate in your campaign, and hope it succeeds.

Kathy Williams
