As the House Judiciary Committee took up the question of how best to address what its chairman described as "the Imperial Presidency of George W. Bush," it was the ranking Republican in the room, Iowa Congressman Steve King, who observed that...

This should have been on the table right after we learned that Bush lied about WMDs in Iraq.

I watched these proceedings (6 hours) yesterday; and I want to say that it renewed my confidence in the fact that we still have some members of Congress who care about the framework of this country, and who are willing to bravely take a stand to protect it.

Please let them know that we hear them, appreciate them, and will also stand for our country.

Noted: Couldn't have said this better myself! I'm listening to an Alex Jones show from 06/13, right now in which he had Dennis Kucinich as a quest. Alex was a Ron Paul supporter, but said live on air, that Dennis Kucinich is showing the most amount of courage, more courage than anyone else. He said Dennis Kucinich needs ALL of our prayers and support. He also said that all of those other congress critters MUST hear from all of us, we MUST DEMAND they impeach. More pressure from we the people can't hurt.

Saturday July 26, 2008, 12:37 pm
Petition signed. Yes, the entire cabal MUST be tried for high crimes against humanity and high treason against America. Thanks so much for posting this Carole. You are an angel!!

Thank you, my dear friends and patriots.

People, we MUST do this. If a handful of Congressmen/women can put their careers on the line to stand up and say, "THIS is not the country it was intended to be," the very least we can do is SUPPORT THEM, and let them know that we are angry too!

I detest the term "sheeples," but if we allow ourselves to be manipulated into voting for candidates not of our own choosing and say nothing . . . we might just as well say "baaaaaaaaaaaa."

It's funny, I wonder how many petitions I have to sign, how many emails, letters and phone calls I have to make before something is done.
I've begun sending letters and emails to congress now that as Donald Trump says, "YOUR FIRED!" maybe that will get their attention. After FISA, they're all FIRED. Unless they listen to WE THE PEOPLE.
Come on people, they won't fire Bush and Cheney, let's FIRE them, all of 'em. We have to stand up and make others listen.

You can send a free fax the link is on some of the posts there.

use your imagination, do anything, just spread the word that people need to speak up and make those scum in DC know we will NOT tolerate this abuse of our constitution any longer.

EVERY DAY please do at least one or a couple things.

I signed the petition July 16th, however if I could sign again and again, nothing would give me greater pleasure short of the actual hearings and

I do not know if it is appropriate to post from someone else's comment that followed the article, but I felt it contained some very good information and so I am in case noters here are not reading past the article.

"ALL SHOULD BE AWARE that the House Democrats did not allow this preliminary Impeachment Hearing Today Out Of The Goodness Of Their Hearts or Because of Any Particular Group's Lobbying. There is only one dynamic that has changed recently. The Democrats are afraid of massive voter retribution in the November Election. They are afraid of losing their jobs and their power, and the perks that go with it. The Voters have recently and loudly told the House Democrats that we are sick and tired of their stonewalling on holding Bush and Cheney accountable. After My Democrats took over, the polls show that Congress's positive rating dropped to the single digits, the lowest in history. The refusal of the House Democrats to stop the Iraq War and Impeach is unforgiveable. We put you in office and if you do not hold Full Impeachment Hearings prior to the Election we will un-elect you. In Colorado We Democrats, Independents, Republicans and others are currently doing negative campaigning against all incumbent House/Senate Candidates who have refused to support and even discuss impeachment. If the House Democrats do not immediately announce the date of the first full impeachment hearing scheduled prior to the election, we will greatly increase our negative campaigning. Your job is yours to lose. You have our support only if you hold serious full impeachment hearings before the election. John H Kennedy Denver CO 43 yr Democratic voter, Obama delegate to Denver County Conv, and organizer of the IMPEACH COLORADO COALITION"

Thank you Carole. This is THE most important issue before Congress and we must make them realize it!!!

Sheldon I appreciate the importance of your campaign. But this is a different and extremely important topic - you are as we say, 'off topic' here. I'm off to make sure I already signed this. my personal life is such that I don;t know how much longer I'll be here on Care2 but I will try to hang on. I'd like to say this much - the evolution of American government into something that neither represents the people nor restrains the imperialistic and tyrannical despotism of the powerful few is nowhere show more clearly than in the 'freedom' of this Executive to commit the crimes they have committed with the willing support or apathetic complicity of most of Congress. To quote the truthout article:

# We have seen this Administration fabricate the threat of Iraqi weapons of mass destruction and allege, despite all evidence to the contrary, a relationship between Iraq and al-Qaeda. These lies dragged our country into a preemptive and unjustified war that has taken the lives of more than 4,000 U.S. troops, injured 30,000 more, and will cost our nation more than a trillion dollars.
# We watched as this Administration again undermined national security by manipulating and exaggerating evidence of Iran's nuclear weapons capabilities and openly threatened aggression against Iran, despite no evidence that Iran has the intention or capability of attacking the U.S.
# We have looked on in horror as the Administration suspended habeas corpus by claiming the power to declare any person an "enemy combatant" - ignoring the Geneva Convention protections that the U.S. helped create.
# We have seen torture and rendition of prisoners in violation of international law and stated American policy and values, and destruction of the videotaped evidence of such torture, under the tenure of this Administration.
# We have seen this Administration spy on Americans without a court order or oversight in violation of the Fourth Amendment.
# We watched as U.S. Attorneys pursued politically-motivated prosecutions in violation of the law and perhaps at the direction of this White House.
# We watched as Administration officials outed Valerie Plame Wilson as a covert agent of the CIA and then intentionally obstructed justice by disseminating false information through the White House press office.

A change of President or of Executive will not mend the gaping holes that we can now see in the system. So long as this or any other government can claim that they wre lawfully elected (in rigged elections of course) by the VOTERS they claim the mandate that legitimizes them - George Bush included.

If you really want to do make the difference that is needed now (yesterday really) then it is time to think about what it would take to make your vote into millions of votes, withdraw those votes and deliver them back to the people so that the people can say - we need a new kind of government. We need to amend the Constitution so that our representatives are legally bound to represent us; so that our 'government' is accessible to the wishes of people through mechanisms that take the power from them (our servants) and give it back to us (the people) who are the real "deciders". We need to issue our own currency and disenfranchise the private bankers who print and lend us our own money and control the present government through a fraudulent credit system. We can only do that if we can show that we have gathered and built the mandate until it outweighs anything that the 'elected' can possibly claim. The journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. That is why NO in November.

It may be just a commitment not to vote at present but it has ambitions to become the national register of those who will never again give away their vote/mandate to a dangerous elite who are allowed represent only a vicious and privileged minority. We the people will become unstoppable when there are more of us than of those who buy the lie and legitimize *them* by voting.

Now I'm off to make sure I already signed this petition!

IT must be more than obvious that instant impeachment shoud be everyones No.1 priority today in order to stop the maniacal on-going, increasingly fanatical, desperate death throws of a wounded beast...Destined to have an adverse effect on the entire planet...Too much...Stop the rot ASAP...

Perhaps then, rather than thrashing the whys and wherefores of who, what why and when, and all the other stray topics on this subject around at the moment... Already done!...Why not take a look at beyond all of this?...It appears to be generally accepted that 'things' are entirely out of hand on so many fronts...

Therefore what of tomorrow?...A complete re-design of todays warped legacy for our children or more of the 'same'?...Is there an alternative?...Only one that crosses my mind...Remove the 'power' from the chosen (Self appointed!) few and give it back to the long suffering masses, where it belongs, with a little equality...

To this end I implore you to retract your claws and think a little beyond today...There is a fledgling group on Care2: 'Creating the Next Society - Your Ideas Needed Now'... is a beginning but is there REALLY an alternative beyond Bush?...

Feel free Carole (I am sure you do, with apologies for previous justifiably deleted flippant comment) to delete this for being 'off topic'...It does, however have some relevance here at the end of a 'long day'?...

It isn't too late to impeach both the POTUS and VP. They don't deserve a lifetime of pension and benefits. We need to show the world we stand by our beliefs, constitution, bill of right, no matter what or who it involves. The world is watching. I don't want my tax monies to go to either one of these crooks. It will all end up going to pay the bill these idiots left us

It's a start. But what about the Congress and Senate that went along with him on everything he has done since he took over the office of President? I really do want to see this happen, then war crimes after we impeach. But, how and when do we make the rest of Washington accountable for their actions?
