The fiercely contested bill, which was stalled last week by a filibuster of a Democratic lawmaker, now will go to the full House of Representatives for consideration.

AUSTIN, Texas (Reuters) - A Texas House committee voted to move forward with a proposal to ban most abortions after 20 weeks of pregnancy and toughen standards for clinics, after at least 2,000 people sought to testify for and against the measure at an eight-hour hearing.

Thanks Dee for posting the link to the full article by Ms. MacLaggan. Gov. Perry and GOP led Texas legislators are back at it and I hope the women of Texas will remember this come election time. Read and noted.

hopefully this bill will be passed. In times where so many couples are fighting infertility, talks about abortion after 20th week is very, very wrong.

Jelena..I respectfully disagree with your statement ..
One thing has nothing to do with another..Though I do understand the difficulty..the sadness that one couple may be dealing with in their situation..It certainly should not mean that another couple should be forced into having a child that they either don't want..or can't have for whatever personal reasons they may have due to their situation..

This is what truly boggles my mind with those that are against abortion at any time..No one is or ever has said that those who are against it has to have one..however..just because one is against something..why do they think that they have the right to tell "everyone" that they can't do it..

It is not murder..and it is certainly not wrong for those who need/want to have one..What is wrong is the fact that in this world there are far too many who are born and become unwanted children that will never..ever know a good family life..They will never have a good home..Never have anyone to love take care of them..That sadly no one will ever want..That is wrong..That is horribly wrong and cruel to put any child through..

Look up the statistics of those unwanted children..That is a crying shame how many there are out there..So where is all of the people who are so against abortion at any term..How many do they go out and adopt and care for..and give them a good family home life..

Look at the stats of those unwanted children that grow up to be drug addicts..prostitutes..alcoholics..troubled tortured Souls..constantly searching for what they never had..never knew..
Yes some are adopted..some do grow up to be successful..happy..but clearly the stats are way higher for the ones that don't get to grow up happy..successful..And even more tragically sad..many don't grow up at all..Suicide..or physically..sexually abused..or even killed by foster care scum that only take them in for the money..

I personally have never had an abortion..and honestly I don't think it is something I personally could have done..But I stand with women that they all have the right to choose for themselves..And I have much more respect for any woman that chooses to have an abortion when she knows it is not right for her..for whatever her reason is..because that is one less unwanted child thrown into a life that has little chance of the happiness love and safety that every child should have..and certainly deserves..

I have had 5 miscarriages in my life..all were heartbreaking moments for me..And I lost my twins one month before they were to be born..I was hit by a drunk Melissa died Matthew lived one month..To this very day there is an emptiness..a big hole in my heart that I will have until I die..There is not a day that goes by that I do not think of them..However..that has nothing to do with a woman..a couple who in their private lives and in their personal situation that choose to have an abortion..for whatever reason they may have..It is and should be their choice..
