Pet care can be expensive--and in these trying economic times, families all over the country have been forced to give up their pets because of financial hardship. The HAPPY Act is important

What a wonderful act... now to get it passed. For those of us disabled/retired in this economy keeping our pets safe and happy is difficult!

Excellant! Signed and sent. Although they might be tired of all the letters I wrote them on Health care.

Please, please, please, please, PLEASE pass along the word to anyone and everyone whom you can think of. It's a desperate -- and terrifyingly sad -- situation here in Los Angeles, and worsening by the month, the week, the day, even the HOUR! PLEASE support the HAPPY Act, and ask everyone else to do the same, for the sake of our beautiful, voiceless friends who are totally dependent upon US for their lives, health, and well-being.

I strive for independence, own my home and am seriously mobility disabled. I live alone and without my dog who is now 14 I would not be alive.

I have had to hold my medicine and food to save money to pay for his when his actions keep me independent and not a burden on the system meaning skilled nursing care placement with what would end in Medicaid paying the bill.

He has found ulcers not visible on my lower limbs 9 times for which I had in office surgery, (the doctor had never done surgery based on a dog but he did and the dog was right) before the problem required hospitalization and a PIC line saving Medicare/Medicaid thousands.

Now he is old, and has bads legs like me. I rescued him and saved him from maternal parvo, he saved me back.

This should be passed. As animals are so very important to our well being. So of course I signed.

This is great! BUT - I can't sign it, as I am in NZ. Can we please have THE HAPPY ACT in other countries? How to go about doing it?

This would be so great. it would help so much with poeple like me who take in unwanted animals and have to incurr the total cost of these animals. i have 15 cats, 4 dogs, a ferret and a cockitiel. i have to obsorb the total cost of caring for these resuced animals.

This is a nice idea, but with the country in an economic tsunami and people dying everyday because they cannot get medical care as uninsured or underinsured along with all the financial disasters at hand as well with states in near bankruptcy calling for the disolution of many necessary social programs, I doubt that Congress will pass an act for allowance of a deduction as proposed in the HAPPY Bill. I wish it were so.
