New research shows that glaciers, sea ice, and ice sheets like the one that covers Greenland are now melting more quickly than before due to global climate change. As a consequence, oceans will rise by 0.9 to 1.6 metres in this century.

Thanks for the link, Julie. We can always count on David Suzuki to tell it like it is.

BTW, Dr. Suzuki was on the George Stromboulopoulos Show on May 12. It was a very informative and entertaining interview:

Thanks Julie for this important post. Well I really believe in David Suzuki, a very smart and devoted man. Wow to think that the Maritime provinces on the east coast and BC on the west coast. The Vancouver Int. Airport in Richmong in on very low land, Delta is also sea level. What a wake up call, that something has to be done in the very near future about global warming!!!

Yes, we really should be leaving fossil fuels in the ground, cutting CO2 and methane emissions, going solar and wind energies, to prevent catastrophic climate change, sea-level rise, droughts and famine.
