Dogs are helpful to us in so many ways, from edging us on to get out for some exercise to helping calm down high school students. Now, The Spark Project has found another way: their waste is transformed into energy that lights street lamps.

I Knew there was a good use for it!, just didn't know what usefulness. That's awesome, if we can power cars or light our houses, then maybe everyone would adopt a couple dogs and we can all be happy. That would take care of the overpoopulation in the animal shelters, dogs would be treated better, our energy problems would be solved. I think it's a Great idea.

I have two Old English SHeepdogs, who could probably supply enough for a streetlight or two-I wonder if they make units for home use?

BRILLIANT!! Here in the Twin Cities - Minneapolis & St. Paul, Minnesota - it's mandatory to pick up dog poop anyway; so why not collect and use it as an energy source?!! Makes perfect sense to me. Great idea to let doggies help us all go "green." Instead of letting Big Oil, Big Coal & Big Nukes "wag the dog" with war-mongering and environmental destructoin.

Like I always say . . . . . .
Everything has a purpose, and dog is still man's best friend.
And now he will be helping to light our way.
How precious is that?

Great use for dog poo! They should market it so other communities could light their parks too.

"wag the dog" nice. Alice! Great idea! I still remember when people weren't required to pick up after their dog...eeeeee, especially in a Michigan winter, actually it was the spring thaw that was really gross! See, we can come up with solutions when we want to...need to. It a good thing that when we can't rely on our government to take action, we will. and maybe in some ways that's the way it should be.

So now we have 'Poop-a-Lights' Great idea. Why don't we use poop to heat homes in the cold climes.

Make a difference, give Love, Understanding and Tolerance. Plant a Tree.

A nice idea for dog owners who take their dogs for walks in the dog park in the evenings. Now if we could get all dog owners to scoop their poop!

Now this is definitely not a "waste" of time and effort. Anything to help on both sides of the isle. No methane at the dump and let there be light elsewhere. wheee

This is a creative use of waste. A bit strange but interesting.

My Staffie could power a street or two, yes why not make use of it - don't forget than humans produce a fair bit of waste too - make more use of what we currently see as waste.
