THE YEAR 2009 STARTED WITH A BANG that ended the life of 22-year-old African American man in the California Bay Area. Oscar Grant's shooting death was captured on the video footage below. He was killed by police in what some people are calling cold bl

I am sitting here feeling complete and utter disgust. This just sickens me. From what I could see in the video, this was cold blooded murder! and the officer who did this should be charged for 1st degree murder. There was no reason that this should have happened. When will it ever end???!!!
Thank you my friend Mary for sending this out.

Thank you for your comments, Kathy. Are the two policemen who held the unarmed, handcuffed young man on the sidewalk to be shot any less guilty than the officer who pulled out his revolver and shot him point blank in the back?

Please read the entire article and comments at the site of this news story. One person knew exactly what damage the bullet did, and he gave an account of it at the comments section.

Equal justice needs to happen in America. We have many concerns about Gaza and other places, and that is good. But please help me advocate for suffering Americans! Post this article wherever you can. You may recall my letting you know that they often delete my articles off the web, so this one may be a target.

I just tried to put this in my sharebook, but was not allowed to do so. I am going to try again. Oftentimes, I am not allowed to use my Care2 email to ask my friends to note my articles for hours, because those who censor me want to keep my articles about justice issues off the Care2 Front Page, which is always a fair place on Care2. So please make up for my censorship by sending the article to YOUR friends and YOUR groups to note.

Thanks in advance.

Mary

Of course they should all be held accountable! No question about it. But, did the other officers know what was happening? From video seems they kind of jumped back in surprise/shock at first...Then seconds later of course 'one for all and all for one' kind of thing. It happened so fast. But of course all should be held accountable like I already said, especially the one who cold bloodedly killed him! And now his 4 year old daughter doesn't have a daddy... So unnecessary and so wrong.

Kathy, I am still being prohibited from emailing my friends about this article and I cannot use my Sharebook.

Censorship on the Internet is equal to the Nazis burning books! I am not allowed to tell my friends about this article in order to keep it from front page.

Often, when I post my blogs and articles at my Care2 groups, they are removed. Go through my Sharebook at Care2 and see how many times you see ZERO by discussions. My discussions for news about justice issues are removed regularly.

Another thing that is done at CARE2, but not necessarily BY Care2, is that in my Sharebook, you will see light typing font and sometimes VERY TINY FONTS. I did nothing to change the font, and the light typing would not print on a document I was printing for the Court in our fraud and breach of contract case against The Cochran Firm.

So, take a look at the Sharebook for yourself, and try to print the pages with the light typing. I am not good enough with computers to know what to do about this sabotage. But come what may, in God we trust.

Blessings,

Mary

Note: I finally was allowed to email my friends. I was also allowed to post only the subject of this news on my Sharebook, but not the copy of the news with the link to this item in Care2 News, so there is nothing for anyone to click.

Thanks for all my Care2 friends do to help me overcome censorship with my news items. Most of what I write seems to come under fire - it is an embarrasment to a free country and powerful people in big law firms. I don't know who does the censorship - only that it is done.

Strange - this article gets viewers by the thousands in just one day at NowPublic, but only 12 notes on Care2. Most people are interested in such video footage as this. I'll find out later, hopefully, why this is not interesting to Care2 members. Somehow I doubt the emails went out yet. That happened before.

Mary, I am just shocked at the videos. Look at the terror of those kids. How does a police officer have the right to murder in front of other police officers? You know what this is? The actions of a police state, and it's frightening to know they can shoot first with no repercussions. I saw no arrest on any of the vids I watched, why was this officer not arrested? We have to all make those calls and demand an answer and justice for a change! We pay these people to PROTECT us.

I am so appalled by this. Thank goodness for camera phones. This young man died for no reason. My heart breaks for him and his family. This 2 year officer should be held accountable for this. The other officers are guilty too. Scumbags. Noted with rage. Thanks Mary.

They say Racisim isn't alive anymore, {yea, right} this is unjustifiable & dispicable! I am so very sad for this young man Oscar that got killed for no reason! Damn, this is BS! By the video you can see that none of these young men did anything wrong, why the need for such violence from these so called "police", I will call them "subhumans" that have no heart or soul.

I agree, these are the very same people who take the oath "To Protect and Serve"? Does it look like they're doing that in this country? Most policemen are cool, but most join the police force because they feel the need to be the "Authority" & they become corrupt, doing things to harm people instead of helping...It sickens me to no end!

May Oscar's death not be in vain, make those phone calls...this is so wrong, so very wrong! R.I.P. young Oscar, I will pray for your son & family to have justice served.

Mary, thank you so much for shedding light on our judicial system sweetie, keep doing what your doing, never let anyone stop you, the lord is on your side hon. So are we. TY for caring & all your efforts to help our society become more aware of what is really happening out there my friend. This is noted with fury & will forward.

Thanks to my friend Sheila for the phone numbers to call, I will be making those calls today!

We can make a difference, this needs to stop, NOW! This in so unfair to "innocent" people.

Blessings to all,

noted. I wept when I read of then viewed this...wept in rage--bitter, scalding tears. Where is the public outcry in this case? Why isn't it getting attention in mainstream news? We must make noise...a roar that cannot be ignored. I will do my part, starting right now by making phone calls and sending email. Thank you, Mary, for your persistence and for prodding me...us...to action.

Thank all of you for commenting and noting this sad news. It is sad for Oscar Grant's family, but it is also sad for all Americans. While we fight for human rights for others, citizens in our country are treated like dogs. This is why dogs are my motto.

I am glad that laws protecting domestic animals have been strengthened in America after the Michael Vick abuses, but I yearn for the day when people of color and mentally ill citizens enjoy similar protections from our law officers and the United States Justice Department.

I was just booted out of Care2 email. I wanted to let my Care2 friends know that I understand being a friend of mine can be inconvenient. One friend reported that he has not gotten his Care2 Updates in his email box since early December, and he feels it may be due to his friendship with me. Possibly correct.

I only say to America the same thing that Martin Luther King said, "Be true to what you said on paper." I suffer censorship and persecution because I advocate for equal protection under the law for people of color and for the mentally ill.

My friends at Assistance to the Incarcerated Mentally Ill and I advocate against the death penalty, believing executions are unevenly applied to disadvantaged citizens, who are generally poorly represented in court. We especially advocate against executing people who are mentally ill, those who were minors when the crime was committed, and those whose guilt is not proved, like Troy Davis.

The officers did not even feel it necessary to carry Oscar down a dark road and kill him in secret like the good old days. They apparently felt they would not be held accountable for his death. Are they right?

I wanted to say to my friends, if you must stop being my friend due to persecution and censorship, just create a separate Care2 membership for friendships with human rights advocates like myself who are considered enemies of the New World Order. Eventually, they are going to get around to you, anyway, but this may help you escape notice for a while longer.

Blessings,

Mary Neal

Thank you dear Mary for bringing this story to Care 2 for us. I am so saddened for this family. No family should ever have to experience such a terrible miscarriage of justice. For what is justice when it is placed in the hands of a police officer for one instant in time. No seconf chances to take it back, to undue the unthinkable act of a careless act.

When I was in junior high school, a friend in my band class underwent the same injustice. His brother was shot and killed at night while walking across his own back yard to his backdoor porch. The police officer shot and killed him without identifying himself as a police officer, and shot Craig because he said Craig had a gun in his hand. After shooting Craig dead, the cops partner approached Craig alying on the ground only find that Craig had a pair of winter gloves held in one hand.
No justice was ever found for my friends family, and this was back in early 1970's. My friend Duane & his brother was black. I remember not being able to understand what racism was back then...and still refuse to today...This was a racist crime then....and this appears to be another one with the tragic loss of Oscar Grants life.....This should never of happened...ever.

I weep for this poor family and all their pain and loss.
My love, thoughts and prayers are with them.......

They don't want you to have the info to contact Grant's family. They want to divide the races. They don't want you to get to show your love to a black family. Go to the article and show your support. Show them that human kindness transcends all races. That is the only reason I can think of for them taking away the link for you to contact Oscar's family.

Mary, I say this to you & countless others, you know "they" are watching, & I would like to say:

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil!

I do not know why people want to separate or divide people by races/colors/religions...for we are all one in this Universe.

I do not see people as bad because of their "skin color", I think that people who do that are not educated enough to think for themselves and have no heart whatsoever to care. They are "followers".

In this world nowadays, we must be leaders, not followers, so do not be afraid to speak up or stick up for your fellowman, no matter what others think {they are not "in tune" with the Universe} they are more afraid of people like you & me Mary, that is why your posts disappear. What other reason can there be?

I will go to the link for Oscar and his family and because I am a human being above all and care about my fellowman. That is the way it should be, there are no judges down here, only one judge and that is the Great Spirit.
My beliefs and opinion only.

Thank you Mary, your doing great with your advocacy about the mentally ill and believing so much in your faith, that I applaude you my friend! Yes, I said my friend, for I shall always be your friend, my sister in soul.

Oh, by the way folks, I'm "white" if that makes a difference to those who are "watching"...

The British police pulled someone off a train and shot him too in 2005 using the excuse that they "thought" he looked like a wanted terrorist. Three and a half years later the jury was told that they could NOT find 'unlawful' killing in their inquest verdicts.

In both our countries it seems that the police force can and does act in ways that are highly questionable and that the establishment will cover up for them.

There should be an enquiry...but there won't be...for all kinds of reasons...or it will be postponed so long that memories will become inadmissible as courtroom evidence. We have seen these delaying tactics over here and you do over there.

This young man's death matters.

By the video evidence it was clearly a case of murder.

To pull a gun when there is no threat is against all procedures of the police.

To discharge a weapon at at unarmed and compliant young person is repugnant.

To attempt to remove phones to cover up shows they knew that what went on was WRONG.

I am happy that I was raised in a household where race was seldom ever mentioned. I am glad that I lived on a street with both races, bringing me in regular contact with Caucasians. I am glad that in the late 50s, when many black people did not have a phone, my grandmother chatted in the evenings with our white neighbors in town - about gardening, raising children, the weather. I am pleased that my aunt always ended every conversation and each letter she ever wrote to me by saying, "I'll let you go now. But remember to treat others as you wish to be treated," and she would say, "Remember Mary Lane, God loves everyone, and you must love everyone to be like Jesus."

This is how I was raised, and I am so glad about that. This is how I raised my children, also. There are people who profit from creating division among the races, because some people look at their neighbors when they have difficulties. I read posts (not at Care2) where people were blaming their lack of employment or even the economy on Latinos! I could not believe it.

Anyone looking at that film knows what happened and how bad they would feel if it happened to their son. Oscar Grant happened to be a hardworking young man who had two jobs. But even if he were an actual criminal, police officers are not the judge and jury. They had no right to kill Oscar, and I protest!

Mary, thank you for saying what you said, it all makes complete sense.

I was also raised with all people of color, I grew up in the "projects" of a rich white neighborhood, and I am glad that my friends were who they were no matter what nationality or skin color, they would sleep over my house and we would laugh until our sides ached, I saw no color there, just beautiful young children with hearts & souls that loved life, like me.

My Mom & Dad would sit on our porch with all the people of the projects & chat for hours, any color, any nationality...it didn't matter, we were "neighbors" and we looked out for one another, it seems we have lost that and become scared to speak to one another even.

I am glad that my Mom & Dad instilled in us 6 children that God does love everyone.

I speak to everyone walking past my house, no matter what race/creed/religion they are, I am friendly towards all people and I am happy that my Mom & Dad taught me the "right way" with morals.

BTW...last time I looked, we all come from one "race", the "human" one!

I stand by your side my friend & I agree Mary, they had no right to be judge & jury to kill Oscar, that is why I said there are no judges down here on Earth, there's only one judge! We have no right to judge anyone, we are all equal in the eyes of the lord.

I believe that Oscar's death will not be in vain.

Blessings to all,
FreeSpirit...

They are saying that the officer mistook his gun for a taser, but why would you even taser a man that is hancuffed and no threat to you. This mistaken taser is just the begining of the defence they will use to get the officer and mainly the police department off the hook. And as usual he will get away with it. They always do.

I guess you all know that the shooter in this case resigned. 1,100 folks went to Grant's funeral, and there has been a riot, but it is contained now.

Here is link to the VIDEO of the riots and an update:

UPDATE - 1/8/09 - Riots erupt in Oakland after slain father laid to rest

(CNN) -- Protests erupted shortly after a young man killed by a subway police officer was laid to rest in Oakland on Wednesday night, according to local media and iReporters.

Oscar Grant, 22, was killed January 1 in a shooting at a subway station in California's Bay Area.

The Oakland Police Department made 105 arrests, including a mass arrest of about 80 people at 11 p.m., said Officer Jeff Thomason. The charges include inciting a riot, vandalism, assault on a police officer and unlawful assembly, he said.

One officer was injured, but not seriously, Thomason said.

I think we should organize a boycott of BART for the same length of time it takes them to arrest the person they employed to murder Oscar Grant. I would suspect the revenue supports the salaries of the killers they employ. Why would we continue to pay their salary when they are killing innocent citizens? I also believe BART is a government agency so why would we continue to knowingly give money to the same people who are doing nothing to ensure this murderer is locked up.

People must not fall into the trap,of beleiving that Obama's victory, means that racism has somehow disappeared.Black people are overrepresented amoungst the poorest, the wrongly sentenced, the wrongly accused, and of people living in the worst housing, and amongst those suffering the most morbidity and early death.
Just because there is a blck middle class, and a black President,it doesnt mean that those historical systematic abuses don't exist anymore.
..as for those who beleive that "political correctness"(whatever that is other than a right wing propaganda campaign, to smear the advocates of fairness),is a threat to society..well they are contemptible.
For me class and economics are the main drivers which shape society, but as a white working class person,I rarely suffered any discrimination (very minor shit, based on my Jewish ancestry).
Formenting racial division, is a long used tool, used by the unelected and undeservingly rich and powerful.

Just to reply to Mary's and Free's posts re growing up in racially diverse neighbourhoods.I grew up on council estates, long terraced rows, and later white suburbia-where there were NO black people.Messages on race were mixed, but certainly racial jokes and slurs ,were part and parcel of home life, and it was taken as read that "foreigners"were funny.I'd go to watch football matches, where the crowd were predominantly white, and often racist,as was the case at all UK stadiums in the 70s and 80s-these grounds were one of the main recruiting areas ,targetted by the National Front-a neo-nazi "political party".
I adopted racist views, until I was about 15/16 years old..Until that stage i had merely taken in the culture around me..which reminds me that those who endlessly replay the more ignorant aspects of they're own childhood culture....past an age when they are able to think for themselves, have no excuse ..and are at this point a player in,and not just a recipient of ignorance.

Thanks you Mary for bringing this to our attention. I made a comment on the news station regarding the videos. From what I saw, there was absolutely no reason for this officer to even pull a gun. The young man was cooperating with all of the law enforcement officers and no excessive force was warranted. I certainly hope this will be thoroghly invesitgated. From what I saw, the was certainly no reason for the young man to die. He was so young and it sickens me to even think that race may have been an issue. When will people learn we are all the same in God's eyes. After all he created all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

It appears that my article on NowPublic is now suffering from Cyberstalking. I get a Google error message on it that keeps one from being able to navagate the page. I sent two messages asking my Care2 friends to please go to the story on NowPublic and check to see if they also get the error message, but my Care2 sent file does not show the messages as having gone through. If you get this, please check for me. My censorship is getting worse every day.

Thank you, friends. Several of you answered my query about this yesterday, and one of you replied that you tried to post a comment to this article and could not. ALL YOUR RESPONSES TO THIS POST ARE GONE FROM MY CARE2 MESSAGES NOW, AND THAT PROHIBITED ME FROM RESPONDING TO YOU. Will you look through your emails and re-send them to me, especially you who could not post your comments to the news story at NowPublic?

It is not NowPublic or Care2 doing this, but my Cyberstalkers, I believe.

My Care2 page looks one way when I am not logged in and view the page, and another way when I am logged in and view my page. When I am not logged in, I see what the public sees, and plenty of data is deleted. I had a friend to check, and he reported all my comments and videos were gone when he looked. Try it throughout the week. You may be surprised at what the New World Order folks do.

My digital camera goes through batteries so fast that I can only get short films of the interference, but I do get some, and I will be sharing them with you soon. I'm getting out my old VHS Camcorder that I can plug up and use if I want, and use 2 hour tapes. Then you will really see something! As I edit, someone works with me and deletes undesirable text! Sometimes when I hit Submit, the data I added to my page or sharebook will have disappeared and part of the data that was there before I submitted new data. It is rather amazing and somewhat comical.

Thanks in advance for re-sending those emails about this article on NP. Please wait until this afternoon to do so. I will not be online for a while, and they would likely only steal your emails again. Here is a puzzle: In the years that we have been conducting our justice quest regarding Larry's secret arrest and jail death, and I always post my contact info, I only got three emails about this - just 3! Although more than 2,000 per mo. go to my website.
