" Now numbering well over 100 million in the United States, cats kill approximately 2.4 billion birds every year in the U.S. alone, making cat predation by far the largest human-caused mortality threat to birds."

I know that it's nature's way for cats to catch birds., but it saddens me to see that one stray cat has driven my finches, doves and other birds away from my garden in the past few years. I still put hummingbird food out. But for seeds, it's been a while. Thanks Ruth

The largest human-caused mortality threat to birds is habitat destruction. I suspect the American Bird Conservancy fabricated the "well over 1 billion birds" figure that cats allegedly kill each year.

I worked/volunteered in cat shelters for many years. I am also a birder. i have baths and feeders, and native plants that provide berries for birds.
