It is maddening and saddening to know that humans set these fires on one of the hottest days on record, for a "thrill" and that even if caught, they will feel no remorse for the deaths of either humans or animals. Personally, I would hang them up and set fire to their goolies! Most of these fire bugs are male and fire fighters.

The RSPCA says:
"A one acre fire will burn literally millions of animals from insects and spiders to skinks, lizards, snakes, and nesting birds and all the small mammals that cannot flee, like echidnas, koalas and possums. And then there is the damage to the animalsí homes and food supply, and of course the destruction of plants and other life."

How many millions of acres acres have been burnt out so far?

The RSPCA needs help too SEE

This is absolutely the most horrendous fires ever in Australia history and my heart goes out to all the people in Victoria who have lost so much. I wish I could help in some small way. My love and prayers goes out to you all. God be with you all. Sue

Thank-you. I am in Victoria and am near the fires. The smoke is heavy and they are back-burning in the local area. We are on 'awareness' for evacuation but the wind is low. We are near Healesville. They have evacuated some of the rare birds and possums to the city Zoo.
