I don't know the numbers, but it seems to me that abuse of animals at the hands of children seems almost epidemic. When I hear of a 9 year old this callus, I have to wonder whether an educational program in primary schools could reacquaint, or reconnect children with animals that have nothing but unconditional love to give them. I can't help but blame extremely flawed parenting skills for this incident.

I hope the brat is punished. Doing this horrific act so young is not good.

Is it that the kid was born twisted or that something has happened to him and he's lashing out?? Will he get the help he needs, or will he be more angry when he gets out... Isn't there a way the mom can get him counseling and the kid could still be home and get him in a volunteer program for the community?? I'm thinking whatever is going on with him will get worse instead of better at this point... very troubling... Thanks Simone!

Remember that this behaviour is also that of an abused child, not necessarily that of the parents. Yes, there should be a full investigation and counselling but he may not be the next Hannibal Lechter.

very sad, most people these days have no business having children they have no time, patience, love, or understanding for them, it's scary the way the world has turned.....the trickle-down effect of pain and suffering

OMG, with children like these what hope do we have for the future!
I think the reason why this is happening more frequently is because children today spend more time with their video games and computers than with nature and living beings .... just another consecuence of our sick consumer society that promotes violence and hatred .

There are no words to convey the horror of this. Why isn't the world taking note of what is happening and taking actions to prevent animal abuse?

evil again, i have watched the videos and read of the rainbow children of the new age. well these new children that are hurting and killing animals in their youth, are dangerous, and will end up being the foes fo the rainbow warriors. i would not want this child in my neighborhood. mental illness, the inability to have compassion is not always the parents fault, could be and should be investigated, but a pyschopath that enjoys evil and gets satisfaction in the pain of others just needs to be stopped permanently. if you believe in any god, in any religion they teach of evil, this child has an imbalance, will he ever be able to pull out the good in himself, evil , evil , evil, too old not to understand the pain of others.

I believe that children who do things as horrific as this are suffering severe abuse...there MUST be a FULL investigation of EVERYONE who has contact with this child.
My heart bleeds for the suffering of that sweet kitty...I cannot imagine the pain and fear.
Rest In peace sweet baby.
Notesd with tears.

These sociopaths have no place in society, first animals then humans. It makes me sick that people take pleasure in maiming or killing animals for pleasure. over and over again i keep reading stories of todays youth taking pleasure in these horrible acts. What kind of people are parents raising?? I say bring back spanking, it seems like at least the children were normal when they were disciplined.

How sad that the next generation find it acceptable to maim and torture animals, probably for fun.
The next generation of rapists and murders, I think.

How horrid! Yet another sign or symptom of our increasingly sick society.
