Can Black Dogs Break the Color Barrier?

Black may be beautiful, but when it comes to dogs of a darker hue, potential adopters often overlook them -- especially if they're big. If you're like me, you probably chose your dog based on something like the melting feeling you got when he held one

I must be strange. I have only had one dog in my whole life that wasn't black and it was a blonde very old dog I adopted from the pound to prevent it from being euthanized.

I have 2 black dogs, sisters, color don't matter they are the best, had them since they were 4 weeks old, very obedient too and char weighs 78 ponds and jetta weighs 89 ponds. They are very loyle and my pride and joy. But..to each their own, any colr dog still has a heart too

Never owned a black anything ! Had a black & white border collie. I have nothing against black . Just bought a black car ! But it is sad that dogs may be over looked because of their colour.

I have heard of the black dog theory - and I know a local no kill shelter who won't take in black dogs or black cats, just for that reason. i say, that makes no sense at all. A black dog is no less sweet, no less loyal, no less beautiful than any other color canine. Aren't they all beautiful in God's eyes ?

What the devil does a dog's color have to do with anything ?1?1? NOTHING - Right?
Well nothing but the poor dog in a hot southern climate like south Texas. They suffer big time down here from the heat. I had a "Black Lab' " once that I found dead on the porch in August one year (in the prime of his life) because of the heat. That dog would go to the bay and swim in the coldest weather. I've even seen it with ice cycles hanging off his belly and panting as if it were hot after swimming in the middle of February.
