Many places in the U.S. are experiencing bitter cold now, and yet, dogs remain chained or tethered outside. In Pennsylvania Dogs Deserve Better points out "dogs freeze in below-zero wind chills as they await a Pennsylvania law against tethering".

I was down in tears to see, that the humans God love so much that He given His Son for our lives, testify about His compassion by treating their "man's best friend" worse than trash.

People who would leave their dogs out to freeze do not deserve to have pets! Make them spend a night out in the cold and see how they enjoy it.

People who chain their dogs up and leave them outside in ANY kind of weather let alone the freezing cold SHOULD NOT have a dog. Dogs have feeling and look to humans for love, protection, companionship, food and shelter. If you're going to have a dog you should keep it in your house. We just had to put down our beloved English Mastiff/German Shepherd mix who weighed 120 pounds (yes she was LARGE) and lived with us IN our small single wide mobile home and not outside. I would NEVER have even considered leaving her outside. She was a member of our family and a good and loyal friend. This kind of human behavior just makes me sick!

People with such disregard for their pets to leave them freezing-- tethered to a pathetic dog house show such a lack of empathy for another living creature that they should not be allowed to have pets or animals !! Really sad and heartbreaking !

The video attached to this is heartbreaking. No need of it. One home obviously shows the people could well afford to do better for their dog but does not. Why do they even bother to have these animals? Do they get some sick thrill out of watching another Being suffer? I don't get it.
Please if you live in Pennsylvannia watch the film and hop on board of that legislation they speak of in the film.

I signed for the PA legislation. I own 2 German Sheps and would never allow them to be outside without my supervision so I am totally against dogs being chained outside..especially in freezing temps. It's just wrong!

I'd like to chain up these thoughtless owners out in freezing weather.

Done. I did notice that the rescuers did not provide coats for the dogs. My greyhound never goes outside, even for the briefest time, without her fake-fleece coat on in the winter.

Anybody who thinks it is OK to chain his/her dog outside should spend a night outside in sub-freezing weather and see what it is like!

I don't understand how people could do this. That's brutal! I don't even agree with people who leave their animals outside all day and night in places where the weather is not so intense. Dogs are social creatures and need human company. They don't ask for much, and they certainly don't deserve this type of treatment.

I won't let my dogs stay outside not more than I can take the cold. Why would people assume that because they have fur or they are a dog they can handle the cold. PLEASE BRING YOUR DOGS INSIDE !!!

Monday January 11, 2010, 2:44 pm
the problem is that in the US each state passes it own laws. so most states dont have tethering laws and are way behind in most animal cruelty laws and enforcing the few laws they have. it is disgusting that laws have to be passed to make humans treat anmals humanely. anyone who owns a dog and leaves it outside tehtered or loose any time of year shows their uncaring and uneducated attitude towards animals. to leave a dog tethered in severe cold is totally barbaric and shows the owners selfishness and callocous attitude towards thier pet. anyone who could do this to a dog is simply barbaric and uneducated

Even if they are wearing their own fur, any right minded person should know that this extreme cold weather can not help the animal. Have a heart and make your animal feel the warmth too.
