We are calling on YOU to help us convince Defra to adopt the only humane, sensible and enforceable option: a complete ban on the use of wild animals in travelling circuses.

Please note the deadline for Defra to receive your comments is 15th March 2010

There are several ways you can send your opinions on this issue to Defra:

1. Via the full consultation document here:

2. Via the online survey set up by Defra:

3. In writing to:

Your response can be as detailed or to the point as you can make it - as long it is clear that it is a response to the consultation. If you can't submit a detailed response, you could even submit something as simple as "I believe wild animals in travelling circuses should be banned".

I think the concept of a circus featuring exotic animals has become outdated. Look at the success of the Cirque Du Soleil with their incredible acrobats. Wild animals don't belong in a circus and I want to encourage everyone to boycott circuses (is that the correct plural?) If your kids want to see exotic animals, take them to a zoo. That is at least one tiny step above a circus. The next step is to only go to zoos where animals have a modicum of freedom and a replica of their habitat.

animals should be running free in the wild, or sanctuary's, not been neglected in circuses
