Laws, Animal Rights Groups Take Stand Against Dogs in Chains

A long-practiced custom -- chaining up a dog outside, where it spends most of its life -- seems to be inching its way toward unacceptability. Passionate arguments by grass-roots groups, animal welfare organizations and animal lovers have reached the ears

Chaining of dog and be left outside is not just acceptable and its just uncomfortable for the animal... Tame your pet and rid away this old long-practiced custom... these dogs need freedom and to socialize with their own kind.. A chained-dog is never happy..

You right about this poepiesnoepie but a lot of local councils in the UK and small towns in the USA have a law that dogs outside of the home, have to be chained up. Before we kick the people with chained up dog, we find out what the local law says 1st.
But where there no local law, get the dog trained and let it run free in the garden.

Take the most calm and humble human being and chain him , and see the results. Why is a dog different.??

James C. is right...where I live there are "leash laws"....dogs cannot run free but must be on a leash in public or confined to your property. I have a fenced yard but many do not and they chain or tether their dog. I don't agree with the idea and hate to see a dog chained out in the weather. I have reported to our local animal shelter many cases of neglected dogs I see from time to time.....no water bowl or shade in the heat, no shelter in the rain and snow or just a very short chain...it is ridiculous, people just don't care!

Thanks Simone! Let people practice being chained just for 5 minutes and left out! Learn by experience!
Hope many read this and spread the word around! I will!

It is never right to leave a dog unattended on a chain. They are often left long hours or all day/night in conditions that may be too hot or freezing cold at night because they've been forgotten, (out of sight out of mind) lonely and neglected. A dog should never be left to it's own devices on a chain. What a miserable existence!

I pity any animal who is chained and I also pity the person who chains them for they too shall meet their maker.

All you have to do is look into the eyes of a chained dog to know the hurt and depression. It needed to be rectified a LONG time ago!
Thanks, Simone

I have always hated seeing a dog chained up outside!...It's not only the fact that these dogs can't get the proper exercize or can't explore new territory, (which dogs all love to do) the worst part of a chained dogs life, I believe, is that the they have no companionship for all the hours that they are chained,-- and there is nothing for them to ... See Moredo...Everyone should be aware by now that dogs are very social animals...I wish these dog owners that think it is okay to keep their dogs chained would try putting themselves in their dogs place.

Most of what happened to our Reese girl is because of this very problem.

Animals are NOT something to be chained up in one area. It's a prison worse than a prison. They see so much but only have feet of freedom. It was because of dogs who were chained up that we lost Reese. I hope this is okay, we just put Reeses Law up and it has to do with this, I will sign this petition no problem and promote it for people to know about.
