I want to sign this, because if these precious little creatures are being killed I want to know about it. However, the petition was devoid of details, and I could not find a letter. What I saw would not gain attention from any official. I went to website and asked to see the letter. Thanks Simone. I love ALL creatures, and want to know if they are being abused.

You have to be really "sick" to kill a guinea pig!

# 375, gladly signed. Sorry to say the "details" appeared finally. Evidently there is no depth of cruelty to which humans will not sink....

It's not just Ecuador, it happens all around South America, it is considered a delicacy. A man on a table next to mine ordered Guinea Pig for dinner in Cusco and it came out cooked lying on the plate with it's teeth in place, it was a disgusting sight. The man was shocked but still ate it.

Noted and signed although I couldn't get the details up either, but as it comes from you I trust you and hope I can get back a later time to read what it's all about, although I must say one thing. I'd never dream of eating one Like that man Lianne talked about!

I would have left the dish and walked out without paying. Mind you we never know what's a delicatessen dish in one country and not in another.I think we'll find out somehow someday.

I owned two guinea pigs (the ones in my pic). They lived for over 6 years and I nursed them both in their final weeks as their health began to fail. It broke my heart. Their love for life, genuine ability to enjoy life and everything it offers to the full, makes guinea pigs deaths for food all the more cruel. I wish the petition were better worded and had a target for authorities all over South America, but I gladly signed as these animals are enormously great in character, even though small in physical status -- probably another reason they are killed. Thank you for telling us Simone.

The International Center for Tropical Agriculture, or CIAT, is considering the idea of guinea pigs as a food 'solution' in the Congo: http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/nationworld/2011088337_apafcongoguineapigs.html

Great idea we should just let the South Americans starve to death to save a disgusting little rodent. I'm so glad that people like you are busy solving all of the worlds problems behind a keyboard!
