The fur ads you might see in magazines and commercials portray fur coats as a symbol of elegance. But these ads fail to show how the original owners of these coats met their gruesome deaths.

I wonder how they would like it if they had something shoved up their behind to be electricuted. To me, people who wear fur are disgusting. There is no need to kill and torture poor defenseless animals to wear fur. Not to mention it being someone's friend and compananion. Makes me sick to my stomache to think about it.

The Buddhist doctrine of right livelihood teaches Buddhists to avoid any work connected with the killing of animals The doctrine of karma teaches that any wrong behaviour will have to be paid for in a future life - so cruel acts to animals should be avoided.

We should nurture compassionate thought. Since we wish to live, we should not kill any other living being. Furthermore, the karma of killing is understood as the root of all suffering and the fundamental cause of sickness and war, and the forces of killing are explicitly identified with the demonic. The highest and most universal ideal of Buddhism is to work unceasingly for permanent end to the suffering of all living beings, not just humans.

Signature #157. How I hate to see these. I would never, ever wear fur. I can't believe how many people do and don't think a thing of it. If only they saw the suffering on the other end! Noted, signed, tweeted and shared. Thank you Simone.

The Chinese treatment of all animals -- especially dogs and cats -- is beyond horrible. This has turned me completely against the Chinese and now I boycott ANYTHING from China. They pack kittens and puppies -- KITTENS and PUPPIES -- so tightly into wire cages that they can't lie down; they are all smooshed together. There's no water, no food -- nothing! THEN they throw the wire cages full of kittens and puppies down into the luggage holds of big buses. In the horrible heat and gas fumes! You can hear their screams under the bus all night. I was on such a bus, and I was in a state of total psychosis over those horrible screams! When I first realised what the cargo was, I tried to get off the bus but nobody spoke English, and they wouldn't unload my bags, refund my $$, nothing. I resolved to somehow bear the cries and screams till I could encounter whoever arrived to take them off, then pay everything I had, if need be, to BUY them off the guy. But alas when the horrible man did come to remove the "cargo" early that a.m., he wasn't about to sell. The swarthy pig made like he was using chopsticks, saying "Eat! Eat!" with a stupid grin. I became so angry that I KICKED him right into his hapless caged charges. There he was, spread-eagle on the ground, dazed; and there I was, barefooted, in the predawn rain in some small town, every possession except my purse still on the bus.... A hundred huge eyes were plastered all over the bus windows, and the bus driver inching, inching forward, honking for me to get back on! Not being an idiot, I finally did... As for me, I was beyond the pale.. SOO upset that smoke was practically coming off me. Now of course, to everyone on the bus, I was some sort of space alien. They all stared. Finally one young man gingerly approached. He had one of those Chinese/English language converter things.... Of course everyone on the bus wanted to know WHY. WHY had I kicked that man? WHY was I so upset...? Over the course of the next hour, I painstakingly attempted to describe why it was SO HORRIBLE to treat poor little puppies and kittens like that. Not just to EAT them, but to torture them so terribly before they were even eaten! AHHHHH... bit by bit they began to understand. One by one they came and awkwardly patted my shoulder. There there, Silly American.... nice of you to care, but Hey, that's just what we do over here. (So get over it!) Meanwhile, at every market in every Chinese city, there they are: the poor little dogs and cats in cages waiting to be selected for dinner. Intermittently, the air is punctuated with the screams of the unfortunate choice.... Oh my God, Oh my God....there are no words. Oh! And do you know who consumes the lion's share of sea turtles? That's right, you guessed it. And, per all the articles I've read about this, they kill 'em in a way "that's far too gruesome to recount here." And of course you know who's behind shark finning and the decimation of our most magnificent endangered species for a bit of a body part here & there? Uh-huh... no surprise... the Chinese! And guess what else: in case you haven't noticed, they don't treat people real good either.
