However, if you are a chemical giant like DuPont and don't report, illegally, "substantial risk of injury to health or the environment" of your chemicals (despite finding such risk to be present in at least 57 of your own studies), dishing out $3.3

It's sad that companies think of small fines as part of doing business. And who pays for this? We do. The cost of these fines are passed on to the customer, whether through the cost of an item or as a tax.

I don't care if the fines are moved onto the consumer or not we need to wake these companies up and that cant pass the cost on forever.

Thank you Simone! These companies simply don't care about anything but profit. They are ruthless and will destroy both humans and the environment and inevitably, themselves. Totally blind and greedy!

I want to personally thank the Koch brothers for destroying vast amounts of land and water. I understand that the father of the Koch brothers were founding members of the John Birch society. The old saying which suggest the nut does not fall to far away from the tree is apropo. Someone suggested that these men were mindless thugs and the only reason they have money today is by chance suggesting that by design they could have never earned a living. They are scary as they surreptitiously violate the constitution of the United States. At no other time in the history of this great country has a business been so keen to deny free market capitalism. They stifle any meaningful legislation to prevent people from having a God given right to clear air and clean drinking water void of the hundreds of millions of gallons of toxic pollutants they pump into the air and water everyday around the globe.

signed! Until we evolve or mutate into having gills, we still are sucking in lots of unknowns into our lungs, absorbing into the skin, and ingesting into our stomachs. We have no idea what combo or percentage of what combo is lethal. Since the young have undeveloped bodies will we first see the outcome with sick children?

Living with a chemical giant (Dow Chemical) at the heart of my city, I know all too well what havoc they can wreak. I also know that they can, if pushed, actually clean up their mess. Having the top execs of the company living here made it to their benefit to clean things up in Midland MI. Maybe we should force the top dogs of every company to live within the environment that they are poisoning.

Where is the EPA? Where is the FDA? Our air is poisoned and the FDA pushes drugs without testing for Big Pharma and we get poisoned. What kind of watchdogs are they?

Large companies get way with murder. Depending on politics of the day of course. Heaven forbid it's republican, money means all, never mind the people or anything else, just the money!

If they poison fewer of us will that mean they will torture more animals during even more testing? These companies should only use chemicals whose effects are known. That way - no one get poisoned or tortured.

The Tea Party Republicans, who want to eliminate restrictions, on Big Business, are not the ones living next to facilities that endanger American's health.

President Obama has to deal with a terrible mess, left by the Bushies to clean up our environment and the air we breathe. We know, that these companies that pollute, would never be stopped, under the last administration.

Apparently, the GOP doesn't care in what condition we leave our nation, for our future generations.

Financial penalties will not curb these people or their corporations..
Bernard Madoff received 150 years for operating a scam which, although reprehensible, did not cause health problems with the American public except in their pockets.
With the above as an example, what class of penalty should these executives receive, on being convicted of routine gross indifference by their reckless actions, for polluting the American Countryside with profit as their only motives?
