Mutilated and Near Death a Year Ago, 'Miracle Turtle' Freed Amid Cheers in Fla.

A badly injured sea turtle that underwent a year of rehabilitation and innovative surgeries was released yesterday by caretakers hoping he finds a mate and helps his endangered species prosper.

Wonderful. All rescued wild critters should be released back to nature from where they came.

This is lovely and inspiriting, if only there were more happy-ending stories about animals to share. I am happy for the turtle, that he was lucky enough to cross paths with good people who gave him a chance despite his deadly wounds (that is the spirit!), thanks to which he is now healthy and free :)

Way to go!!! Such a great story with such a wonderful ending! I agree we need more of these type stories, and people willing to go out of their way to rescue a dying turtle and any thing else that needs their help and compassion.
