How can a state promote its wild horses as a tourist attraction while it seeks to decimate herds?

I've been involved with this cause for awhile.....It is horrid what BLM does to round up these horses only to then transport them to slaughter. This is happening NOT just in Wyoming!.IT NEEDS TO BE STOPPED!! ALOT of people are behind the effort.........The horses are what they call "managed" to make more room for welfare cattle.......as BLM and wealthy ranchers claim thousands and thousands and thousands of acres aren't enough for both cattle and horses. It is an ongoing tragedy for which there is no valid excuse.

Here we go again!! We are doing to the horses what we did to the Native American!! We want, we take and if anyone stands up to say NO, they are killed. Why don't we send all the politicans to Wyoming and have a roundup of them. Let them learn what money and the "I want it and I am going to get it no matter how" attitude can do to them.

I pray the horses survive as God and Nature wanted and are there for future generations to see and enjoy.

There are no animals on this planet that deserve treatment like these poor free animals have. . .yes. . .I believe that they would rather die than to be treated this way. . .

Noted thank you Simone. . .

I THINK A BIG PUSH SHOULD BE MADE TO ALL OUR REPS AND TO ALL THOSE WE PETITION AND WRITE, THAT THESE HORSES ARE NOT 'INVASIVE SPECIES' BUT ARE NATIVE TO OUR LAND. IF WE REALLY PUSH THIS, AND BEG THE ORGS THAT ARE IN THE FRONTLINES TO PUSH THIS, THEN I CANT SEE HOW THE BLM CAN CONTINUE TO GET AWAY WITH THISL. RIGHT NOW THEY CAN USE THE 'INVASIVE SPECIES' EXCUSE TO SIDE WITH THE RANCHERS............. HWO DO WE DO THIS GUYS? HOW, NO ONE IS LISTENING............

We have got to get this stopped. I voted for Obama but will not this time because of Ken Salazar who is allowing this to happen. Ken Salazar has ruined our wild horse and buffalo herds and wolf packs all so ranchers can put their cattle on OUR public lands for profit at the lives of the animals we are to protect.

FIRE Bob Abbey and Ken Salazar for not doing their jobs of protecting OUR wild horses on OUR public lands. Remove all privately owned cattle from OUR public lands.

"If all the beasts were gone, man would die from loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beast, happens to the man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth, befalls the sons of earth." Chief Seattle

Every life has a purpose. All animals are individuals and they have feelings and thoughts and they suffer the pain and the joy that we do. They are entitled and they deserve an opportunity to live.

"The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated." Mahatma Gandhi

Horses is the companion site to the PBS Nature special on Horses. The site introduction aptly explains the importance of 'Horses' in the following manner: "They have transported us, fed us, amused us, worked for us, fought battles for us. Their beauty, grace, and fiery spirit have inspired us. Many centuries ago, their speed and endurance altered human perceptions of distance, and permitted physical achievements that otherwise would have been impossible. To a degree unmatched by any other animal, the horse has profoundly influenced the course of civilization."
