Immediately after birth at Holloman Air Force Base on Nov. 23, 1983, Levi was taken from his mother. From the age of one year until almost 10 years, very little is known about Levi except that he tested positive for hepatitis C on March 8, 1993, Dec. 9,

This story broke my heart. No sentient animal should have to go through this. This is just wrong! This awful practice has to be stopped.

How valuable can the data be that's obtained from this suffering creature? His entire life has been abnormal, his medical condition is abnormal, his mental state is abnormal (well, maybe not; I'd probably chew metal, too, or worse). The kind, humane thing to do would be to get him into a primate sanctuary, but, since we're referring to animal researchers, that'll never happen. Poor Levi and all the rest.

Simone, What can we do to help Levi and other primates? I saw no petition or plan to help....This makes me totally ill:((((( It is just devastating...Anyone who would treat another living soul this way is evil beyond evil...I am sick in my heart and soul to know of this and not able to do anything to help:(((

This is truly inexcusable when a huge number of these experiments have already been done & the results are available to labs. Why do these animals need to suffer more?

Vivesection is a scam-it is unethical, unnecessary and ubreliable,it is used greartly to pad the pockets of those ruthless animal abusers, and further is detrimental to the very species it professes to be working to help-mankind.[sacred cows and golden geese.]

Karma.I wish each and everyone of these vile bastards who conduct this pointless animal research the very worst in life. What goes around comes around. These poor animals need to be released to an animal refuge where they can have a descent life

How can anyone be so cruel as to treat animals in that manner.

This is so wrong and needs to be stopped. This is a torture chamber for these wonderful animals and no way for them to live their lives. They are pulled from their moms and they should be left to live the way they were intended. Animals were not put here for humans to experiment on, leave them alone.

They are definately trying to get their money's worth out of Levi. How someone can do that to an animal and go home to their family and play with the dog, feed the fish, talk to the bird and pet the cat? Somewhere along the line, after getting out of school, they signed away their souls no less than did the Nazi "scientists" closing their hearts to the suffering of human beings. Is it curiosity that pushes them? A pay check? What warped sense of dedication leads them to look into the eyes of the animals everyday...and feel nothing?

Makes one almost speechless to think that humans have the right to do this to an innocent,i really don't know how humans think that this is ethical when it is obvious that it is sadistic, inhumane and cruel. It is about time that ways were changed and animal rights were more enforced.Humans have always dominated other species in the most horrific ways in the name of whatever they see fit and this is completely unacceptable. They share the same world as we do and this is their downfall, they should be treated as equals and not as objects.

There was no reason for this. I pray that all those involved in animal testing and those that make these decisions to be cruel to animals life a very short misable life on earth and then have to feel all the pain and suffering they inflicted on these animals every day of their lives while in hell.
