Just as animal cruelty is no longer acceptable for Barnum and Bailey, it is also growing in unpopularity for zoo-goers. The public would rather see animals that are happy and properly cared for than animals that are sickly or ill tempered. Perhaps it is

She's correct. Personally, I think it's good that people get depressed when they visit a zoo, or hear about cruelty at the circus. That way, there are more people to speak up and take action, when action is needed.

Why do we keep animals in cages, or even in open lot zoo's in the first place. Animals belong in their own habitat. Even if they must be rescued and taken care of due to health problems, they belong in their native country within their own enviornment. Not in cages or spaces where people pay money to watch them in captivity.
