Its nice for them to honor the first dog in Space.. But its still a VERY sad story for a stray taken from the streets... I have had this dog in my mind ever sence I have read it in a book long ago.. but to read that & read this is very disturbing to say the least.. ALL for getting ahead .. something must die.. this dog will always be remembered..

I learned about Laika from the sweet and sad movie "My Life As A Dog." It made me sad then, and every time I think of it since. I agree with Deborah N. Have we really gotten so ahead? I hope a statue at least makes people think. Thank you Simone.
