In their campaign to keep women barefoot, pregnant and in the kitchen, Republicans are backing themselves into another no-win situation, as the nation lines up against their position. However, instead of having the wisdom to back down, Republicans are doubling down, generating even more widespread opposition.

Join Republicans as they build a bridge to the 11th century. They seem to be more like the Taliban as I learn more.

I have always admired Bill Moyers, ever since he presented Joseph Campbell and exposed a new way of seeing our mythologies. Now, I absolutely love him. He has guests on who totally tear the GOP agenda apart with data and facts that are irrefutable. He is a glimmer of light in the darkness of the non-journalism that is the media today.
Luckily for us, the GOP is currently imploding, without much effort from us. Santorum is leading.....LOL.....just his name alone is ridiculous, but his stance on issues are beyond ignorant. I just hope that everyone comes out to vote in November. It looks promising to be a landslide victory for the Democrats all around.

Freedom of Religion is the freedom to practice your Faith, not to legislate it.

The sad thing is that it really doesn't take much to tear up the GOP agenda. They have now waged open war on women and seem to stupid to realize that women voters far out number men. Even those extreme right wing - or anti-abortion protesters are now being pushed to their limits. So just keep on - keeping on boys you're paying for Obama's reelection. Thanks.

Issa is an assa! The man is a condescending fool to exclude women from discussions about their fate or to even think that he has the right to promote his self-serving legislation on their behalf! But I'm not as angry at him as I am with the women who allow this to happen. Let's just hope they're in the minority because he's helping his party dig a big hole, and I can't wait until they bury themselves in it! And I hope they take the Koch brothers and all the self-righteous religious wingnuts with them!

Thanks, Tom!

The more I hear of this whole issue, I find myself almost speechless with incredulity.

TC --- "I fully support the notion of freedom of religion, enshrined as it is in our Constitution, but when Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians attempt to impose their religious dogma on you and me, they are interfering with our freedom of religion."

Patty --- "Freedom of Religion is the freedom to practice your Faith, not to legislate it."

The ONLY ones advocating against freedom of religion are the same ones attacking Mr Obama for denying freedom of religion --- the Republicans!

It doesn't matter whether the issue is contraception/women's health or freedom of religion, the Republicans are trying to make this into an issue, are trying to start a national fire storm of protest against Mr Obama. But all they have accomplished is to make themselves look like they want to go back to the dark ages and take the country with them. Mr Obama did, what he has done in the past, compromised, but this time it exploded in the faces of the Republicans.

I fully agree with you TC and Patty.

The real issue is the First Amendment. This isn't about women's rights or LGBT rights or anything else.
This is about freedom of religion. Separation of church and state isn't really what this is about. The real
issue is who pays. No one should have have to pay for something they don't believe in. It's unconstitutional.
The real issue is the Debt. Why won't the Democrats pass Obama's Budget? This is an important
issue. Use your brain. It's all about religious freedom.

Or, maybe, I've been reading too many troll postings lately.

Theocons are the reason why I am a member of the National Rifle Assoc. Theocons want power over my spirituality. They want power of the reproductive bodily functions of younger women. I do not think I would want to live much longer if they gained either of these powers therefore, I am a member of the National Rifle Association and I share the NRA Slogan: "They will take my gun but only out of my cold, dead hands."

Thanks to all.

Kudos to Sue. We could send Issa to Iran where he could become the Assahola.

Myron, budgetary legislation must begin in the House of Representatives. Democrats won't be passing anything there for at least 11 months.

Great suggestion, Tom! Assahola has a nice ring to it, and the name would fit its bearer.

Great article Tom. I have only recently discovered Bill Moyers & think he is awesome. Once again the GOP is on the wrong side of an issue. It amazes me how they keep doing this. Issa is nothing but a criminal & a thug. And a very rich one at that. No one is forcing any women to go to the doctor & get birth control so this is a crazy fight to have to me. How about freedom from religion do we not have that to. For Issa to call the clergy what about separation of church & state. Their is no war on religion here this is just another stupid idea by the Republicans. I am so weary of this attack from the right on women. 12 states now have person hood amendments up. Should these pass it would be a ban on abortion. 3 states now require a woman to be raped to get an abortion. They do realize women vote too huh? Just keep going Republicans & we will see the map turn more blue again very soon. One more thing a bit off topic. Michigan has now turned into a little dictatorship with the governors ability to put in emergency managers to take away your vote. I believe this to be their ultimate plan for America as a whole. By them I mean the right wing nuts.

I heard on PBS news this morning that Santorum (not sure if right spelling) does not believe in abortion for any reason even for rape or incest and believes that if a woman gets raped and becomes pregnant that it is a gift from God. Is this just a bad rumor or did this nut really say this. I sure would love to see the video of him saying such a thing. If it's true.....this guy is insane and I hope he returns to this earth as a woman next time around and gets raped and pregnant a few times.
