When Muslim terrorists attacked the US compound in Benghazi, Libya, the bodies of the four Americans killed were still warm, when Republicans tried to create a scandal, accusing the Obama administration of a cover-up. They have relentlessly propagandized over the incent ever since, but now we know that the original assessment from Obama’s team was accurate, and everything on which Republicans have based their conspiracy theories is wrong.

Sadly this won't stop people like Darrell Issa. Since when did facts stop them from their incessant ranting's based on total fabrication?

Vote all republicans out of office in every state at every opportunity. Disgusting and despicable. . . .

Thanks Tom. They'll just find something else to "investigate". Issa is a crook and a liar but to those experiencing the rapture of Republican politics, via faux noise, will sit in anticipation for the next Issa investigation. He brought California the Governator, and is an extremely rich and powerful force behind the Republican propaganda machine and I can't wait until he's out of his current position.

I would add another culprit: mistaken belief that financial support of militant efforts buys more than temporary allegiance and alliance--it takes far more to change the opposition to western imperialism created by past administrations. However now it is clear that Issa's only grounds for persisting is partisan political misuse of his position at odds with his duties as chair and his oath of office.

" it was fueled in large part by anger at an American-made video denigrating Islam."

+++++++++++++++ Ah, yes....Islam....the religion of PEACE. LOVE. MODERATION.

I'm very sorry for those killed in this bloody attack and I'm sorry for Mrs. Clinton. She was in an unenviable position of being a target for Republican zealots.

Given that Mittens used Benghazi to attack Obama before people knew what was going on it shows the low attacks that are used by Republicans. Of course, "knowing when to quit" is not an attribute selected for in GOP evolution, and the party just went much further than was reasonable, claiming that the so-called "cover-up" was worse than Watergate, that Obama was directly responsible for the Americans' deaths, that impeachment was inevitable, They really need to get over it.

Benghazi is the zombie that will not die for the GOP - too bad, guys, you got refuted big time!

I know you should keep your friends close and your enemies closer, but if I had to watch Faux news every night, I'd have no hair left. Thanks for watching and keeping us informed, Tom - you save my hair... and sanity!

I appreciate the truth that you put out here for us, TC. It would be great if more people would look for real "facts" before blabbing their stupid ideas to the world, but it does seem that Republicans not only love to spread lies, they love to believe them, as well. Not one of the people interviewed in that video came up with where they got their "facts" about the attack. I guess because they said it, all just have to believe it. I've never been one to be able to just "accept" what I am being told as truth, in fact I nearly flunked algebra because I just kept asking "why" that funny little mark equaled "pie" and why we were using the mark to represent "pie" to begin with lol. I just wish more people would be fact searchers and not drama queens who love to spread gossip, because that is all FAUX news does. Thanks for the video and the article, TC!

So the New York Times says so and it is. What is that all about any way?

I am not saying it was caused by a video or because it was 911 or just that some in that part of the world would like to see Westerners dead and gone. I don't know for sure what the cause is and just because the NY Times says so, doesn't sell me on anything really. I am surprised that their word is gospel to you all or maybe not.

What I do know is that embassy was severely lacking in needed security considering the part of the world and the timing of the event. Considering the events leading up to this. I do know that when calls went out for help, our men fought, four died and help did not come timely.

I think we owe it to them to never let this happen again and understand why there was not adequate security for such a high risk site.

I am not in to the fact that we send our men and women in harms way and don't give them all necessary assets to keep them safe. Our government failed those people. Of that I have no doubt.

As far as Romney using this during an election. How about Obama's lies?

Our government continues to fail us in so many ways and all some care about is that it is not their side doing it. When both sides are guilty of it in different ways on an almost daily basis.

We really shouldn't be each others enemies all the time. It serves no one well.

Be well all.

"It's an odd thing but when you tell someone the true facts of a mythical tale they are indignant not with the teller but with you. They don't want to have their ideas upset. It rouses some vague uneasiness in them, I think, and they resent it. So they reject it and refuse to think about it. If they were merely indifferent it would be natural and understandable. But it is much stronger than that, much more positive. They are annoyed. Very odd, isn't it.” – Josephine Tey, The Daughter of Time

I'm afraid we are going to have Benghazi conspiracy theorists with us until they all die. And that is if we are lucky and there isn't a second generation, on which I would not bet any important body parts myself.

This article is a year and a half old but still on target (and was an accurate predictor too): http://www.huffingtonpost.com/james-melton/birther-movement_b_1558979.html

I agree with Suzanne O. All anyone seems to care about is which party they support. We need to support what is best for America.

Michael h., I believe you are correct, and that what is best for America is NOT what the conservatives value.
They seem only to want to gain power for the sole purpose of further enriching the already wealthy, and they put out propaganda that becomes myth for that purpose. An example of this is the crap about "Trickle Down Economy," another is the story about feeding the wealthy creates jobs in the middle class. No, it fattens off-shore bank accounts.
Read "Democracy for the Few," by Michael Parenti, or "Capitalism Hits the Fan," by Richard Wolff.

As you put in your cartoon so well today, for the Republicans it always will be "Damn Facts". Facts will never suit their agenda, people in general have no interest in facts and do not get worked up over them. Facts are just bothersome things when you want to believe what you WANT to believe. So no, as Fox New has already shown, the Benghazi incident is not over. Especially not as the whole accusation was brought into being because their own tracks needed to be covered and it seemed a way to impeach Obama.

Thanks to all, including the two with whom I disagree. Kudos to many. While Obama is far from perfect, imagine the hell in which we would find ourselves had Little Lord Willard been able to etch his shetch into the White House.

"I'm still waiting for the hue and cry over all the embassy attacks during the Bush administration....."

Or, for that matter, over the Beirut barracks bombing. President Reagan had issued an order that since our presence was a peacekeeping mission, guards on interior posts were under orders that they could not have loaded weapons. Truck bombs killed 299 American and French service members. Guards saw the trucks coming but had no way of stopping them. Imagine the outrage if President Obama had issued such an order.

I knew a few in the Beirut bombing. One who came home with metal plates in their head. My brother had recently graduated embassy school with a few of them in Quantico. Luckily or not my brother wound up in Pakistan where he and another marine were run down right in front of the embassy in full uniform by a vehicle with Iranian plates on it. Easy to pick out. Thankfully he recovered with one leg a bit shorter than the other. I mourn and cry for all those we put in harms way and do not give them the needed equipment, personnel, etc. to make it home safely.

You all seem to think our government did a bang up job in the protection of our embassy, embassy personnel and our diplomats. I don't and the results speak for themselves.

You all make light of it though. That also speaks for itself.

I still have family serving our country in various manners and I don't take lightly to leaving them to die by any administration.

Happy New Year.

Thanks for the post, TomCat. Personally, I think most of our problems started with Reagan. Our country has been on a downward slide ever since he was in office.
To Suzanne O; I know how difficult it can be to have friends and/or relatives in a war zone, and not know from day to day if they will be OK. Security WAS an issue at Benghazii; no one disputes that. However, Rep. Stephens was aware of the lack of security and chose to go there, anyway. This is just one of many facts that the rabid right chose to ignore regarding the attack. I hope your brother comes home soon, and safely.

Thanks everyone. Suzanne, I think we're doing a lousy job at embassy security, but it's hard to do better as long as Republicans keep blocking the funding for embassy security.

14 attacks under bush, 23 dead and not a peep. One under Obama and the right shows us exactly how they use the media to further Nazi fascism.

Is everybody awake yet?
