Last night I watched President Barack Obama say farewell to the nation. Here is the complete video of that address, or, if you prefer, click here for a transcript.

only watched final 5 minutes due to responsibility and that brought me to tears, already missing him. not perfect, but humble, compassionate, passionate, honest, thoughtful, educated, and did a very good job.....overall

I read the transcript last night and noted no apology or acceptance of responsibility for the changes he promised that led may of us to choose him over Clinton--ending the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, closing Gitmo and sending all who can't be prosecuted home or where they'll be sage and holding those who break the law with torture and crashing the economy with financial fraud, et al, accountable. He did do some progressive smaller things however, to his credit. The ACA should've been single payor all along and been designed to exclude the power of insurance companies--and that was the biggest success he claimed. Better than Bush or Trump and no personal scandals are valid claims and reason to miss him IMO.

Grief is appropriate. The loss is real and devastating.

I have shared this link before, but I think it is time to share it again: http://johnpavlovitz.com/2016/11/09/heres-why-we-grieve-today/ Maybe you'd better skip the comments, though.

And while you're there, you might also want to read this one: http://johnpavlovitz.com/2017/01/11/dear-jesus-youre-fired-from-american-evangelical-christianity/

At least we have each other to grieve with. Be strong. Keep sharing. Keep seeking truth. Keep seeking justice.

RESIST !!!

Thanks Tom ,I missed the speech so I can't join in the eulogies. He was always s great orator but that is the only thing I can say to his credit. He left a legacy of failures Poor Peltier an ,innocent man, is still rotting in prison despite appeals we made to Obama. He ignored them. The Dakota pipeline still continues and those gallant men and women are braving freezing conditions. He obviously alienated Israel to please his islamic cronies. He has damaged relations with Russia and probably kicked off a new cold war. I agree with Brent

Pres. Obama tried to work with all Americans. It have caused some of his goals to be missed but his overall all impact was awesome. I would vote for him for a third time if I could.

Because (the east of) Australia is close enough in tune time-wise with (the west of) America, Obama's speech was televised live here yesterday. I wasn't here 8 years ago, but I doubt if they did that with Bush's last speech. I didn't get to see all of Obama's, but the little I saw and the clips later on were impressive enough. Of course Barak Obama is an oratory master.; if he doesn't go down in history as the best president, he sure will be remembered as the greatest speaker of all.

As I understand Barak Obama went out on an unusually high popularity score of 55% in the polls yesterday. Compare this to the dismal, no abysmal, lowest ever, 37% of incoming non-president Drumpf after his pathetic press conference yesterday.

..., that man is going to be so sorely missed! And not only by Americans, I can assure you. 🙁

How could any of us watch without grieving?  The next four years are going to be a huge contrast. I hope we survive and those who voted for this bunch has enough sense to throw the Republicans out next election.  Kentucky gov.  Bevins  announced today that he is cutting the 51 unemployment offices in the state down to 12 in a cost savings act.  Now you can drive two hours to get to an office for help if you lose your job.

He has more "class" in his eyelashes than the pumpkin plutocrat has in his entire body! He showed us what ''leadership" should be...lift us up, provide civil examples, respectful to all, the ability to hold his tongue, even though the GOP spent the last eight years fighting everything he tried to do for children, the elderly, workers, the planet, etc.

I feel privileged to have lived during his terms. We had the opportunity to see real class in a leader.

I have only watched part of it because of a lack of time right now, but the electricity in the air is very evident during that first part. I agree with the crowd who chanted 4 more years. How unfortunate that that can't happen. I will watch the rest later.

I'll miss Michelle. No first lady has had as much grace and class as she does. Ever.

I am not going to watch or listen to his farewell, I am depressed enough and angered enough already. He is a master of masters when it comes to oration. He always will be.

The next four years are going to be a nightmare and I predict that even MOST of the Trump Lemmings will wish they still had the Half-Black Man In The White House Running Something.

Considering he had no help , but lots of name calling and blaming , was called a liar, not black enough, and had his birth and religion questioned , birth certificates demanded and on and on. He tried very hard to achieve everything on his list, as he was being sniped at and nit picked by citizens and foes demanding instant results. .He understands the principals of Justice , shows moral character , has the ability to instill a sense of pride and duty in others, he has courage , ethics and love in his heart. .He is a man for all seasons.

❤️Noted...Brilliant speech, President Obama is a true orator and comes across sounding intelligent and rational. It is not his fault that certain people didn't want him to do well and put up road blocks to try and make him a useless figure head. Shame on them and God Bless all Americans. I pray this new President can deliver some good things but taking away health care doesn't bode well for people.❤️

❤️Thank you kindly TomCat❤️

It is my great hope that all those moved by his sentiments will accept his call to rise up and achieve all the potential we have as "citizens". Despite all stone walling of the GOP, and pathetic bumbling of the Democrat Party he has a remarkable level of faith in what could still be. He has shown great confidence in us and has also outlined a path for us to keep our country from slipping away. We have been challenged to live our dream.

OMG will President Obama be missed!!! And, of course Michelle as well as the children. My hope is that throughout the next 4 years they will make their presence known when times get really tough and there is despair in America. We need them now more than ever.
