With the recent turns in the Mueller investigation, many of us are celebrating what may be the earliest beginning of the end of the cooperative take over of our government by Russians , Banksters, pseudo-Christians, Nazis and other Republicans. Some of us may think that with so much corruption and scandal from the Republicans, Democrats can walk in and take over. The past shows clearly how mistaken that is. Unless we offer something worth having, any victories we enjoy will be temporary at best. To prevent that, we need to turn left!

Well, basically what we’ve been saying here. I’ll be saving it for reference also.

A sad example of how people are not willing to honor oaths, responsibilities, etc. if it means giving up any of their power (no one gives power up gladly)...and a pattern that makes the Party name a misnomer.

"Turning left" is one idea....but we can't leave behind the millions of ''baby boomers,'' etc. These people must be comfortable with any ''new direction'' or they won't vote for it. In the same way that a vote for Bernie turned into a vote for trumplestiltskin, we CANNOT just assume that a Democrat will vote for new policies which are too far ''left."

When are the Koch suckers gonna end up in the Hoose-Gow ? This is their show, their money and their dream to have such a bunch of willing puppets tweeting at their beck and call. It's too early to celebrate and is there still a Democratic Party ? I still can't believe who the president is.

If the implications for the party’s upcoming races seem clear, the long-term implications are even more stark: 69 percent of voters aged 18 to 34 said they support those insurrectionary movements.

Among other things, the Harvard-Harris poll disproves the “Bernie Bros” canard so beloved by the party’s establishment. Democratic insiders have repeatedly insisted that the party’s left is dominated by white males. The implication is that the left is somehow sexist and/or racist.

To be clear, it is the youngest of us that want the party to move much further left and much faster. The continual infighting between the Hillary and Bernie factions simply has to end. NEITHER of them should be in play in 2020, nor Joe Biden either. It is time for the leadership of the party to get MUCH younger, there are capable, qualified people, experienced and ready to step up and it's time for boomers and traditionalists to step aside.

This quote from Bernie a day or so ago created quite a ruckus and rightly so. Talking with Seth Meyers, he said, "Yes, I mean, I think we've got to work in two ways," Sanders answered. "Number one, we have got to take on Trump's attacks against the environment, against women, against Latinos and blacks and people in the gay community, we've got to fight back on those issues. But equally important, or more important: We have got to focus on bread - and - butter issues that mean so much to ordinary Americans".

What kicked off the fire storm, and as I said rightly so, ALL of those people in the specific groups he mentioned first ARE ordinary Americans. They're not space aliens. Those bread and butter issues are just as important to them as anyone, to marginalize them as not "ordinary Americans", creates and widens the divides within the party, within the left. It does NOTHING to help bring people together. That he does not see that is evidence enough for many, including me, that it is time the next generations move up into leadership roles. So many people were so deeply offended by those remarks that if he continues on trying to be the standard bearer, we'll, the party will not win the 2018's with enough seats to retake the majority, it will be difficult in the Senate anyway as it will not be until 2022 when their best chance will come UNLESS the GOP leadership does get wiped out by the Mueller investigation which is entirely possible.

Until then though, the left has to get together on a coherent message that appeals to ALL Americans, that doesn't segment the left into splintered special interests, but considers all on the left a cohesive whole - that's how we win 2018 and 2020 - the ancient leadership that got us this far, needs now get out of the way and let the generations with the youthful vigor carry the battle forward. This inability to cede power is the single worst trait of boomers and traditionalists desperate to retain relevance, recognition and power. It is time THEY put the best interest of the country first too, not follow the example of the republican party and put their particular ideology before the common good. It is time to pass the torch, I wish to hell my generation and the one preceding could do so gracefully. Women and people of color are THE majority in this country, allow them to assume their role as leaders too. That's the future, let's get on with it.

What I've noticed is the Left seems to be more and more in the middle, leaning Right, while the rabid Right is so far Right they're falling off the cliff. I would love to see the Left move more to the Left. I look forward to these new people with new ideas to bring the Left together. Thanks for the post, TomCat.

Oh I so do wish and hope the left will claim victory in the next elections of the momentarily Fascist States of America. My heart goes out to you all... hang in there! Meanwhile in Oz I'll doggedly keep on voting Greens.

Right now, I'd settle for any and all Democrats to get off their butts and GO VOTE!!! Not showing up gave us the current reign of the Orange Ogre.
