French President Emmanuel Macron is here on an official state visit yesterday, today, and tomorrow. Unfortunately for him, he has to spend much of that time in close contact with the Fuhrer of the Republican Reich, Pipi Pervers, Donald Trump. And if that isn’t bad enough, he might even have to meet Trump’s National Security Adviser, Jon Bolton. Poor Macron!

Reading that bit about Bolt-head was bad enough - I don't need to watch the video, what with I start a new contract tomorrow - and I want to be feeling my best on the first day.

I'll bet you could give Schmuck a l'Orange a parade he'd never forget!

"The quickness of the hand deceives the eye." Prestidigitation. TC, can you name twelve people, or even two people, outside of the regular readers of this and other liberal blogs, who even care if government positons don't get filled right away? In other words, who grasp that positions in gevernment are there to get things done for the country, and that those things won't get done if too many positions go empty?

Ill bet that M Macron et Madame wish they were in Ottawa now with the Trudeaus!

Prior to officially joining the fascist Drumpf rgime, Bolton said that he was going to clean house and it would appear that he has and continues to do that. As Rachel mentioned, who the hell was in charge of vetting Bolton??? Oh I forgot, hes a racist asshole so no vetting needed for the fascist Drumpf rgime. The longer I watch the goings on in the US, the more convinced you guys are f**ked!!! Drumpf, Bolton, Lyin Ryan, McTurtle, . . . ad nauseam . . . need I say more?!

M Macron will need a heavy duty enema to get 3 days of Drumpf out of his system!

Resist, Persist, Remove!!!

Silence is Consent!!!

LOL You’ve got all the reasons in the world to worry about John Bolton’s presence in the White House and his influence on Drumpf these days, but stop worrying about Macron. He’s about the smartest politician (note I don’t say “man”) France ever had as a president, certainly the smartest in decades. He runs runs rings around people like Drumpf and Bolton, with an overall charm offensive. Until you care to listen to his speeches, that is.

I doubt many in America took the time to listening to the translation of his speech in French (for which there was no need, because his English is excellent though heavily accented). The Dutch news immediately pointed out that his speech wasn’t so “charming” and that it spoke out against a lot of things that have generated from the Drumpf administration, including Drumpf’s renewed aggression against Iran and offering a new, third way to go when the time-limit on extending the nuclear treaty runs out. Rest assured that Macron knows exactly who he’s dealing with in case of Bolton and also knows that Drumpf’s aggression against Iran is fed by Bolton, hence his new line of approach.

I’m sure Angela Merkel, visiting the White House soon, will take exactly the same approach. Probably Drumpf will embarrass himself just as much when she’s over, even though she hasn’t the political charm Macron has.

I'm not nearly as impressed with Macron as most still seem to be. That man actually approves of Trump in many ways, and has said so clearly. He's one of Trump's voices in Europe to whom I hope the rest of the continent turns a deaf ear. Because NOTHING Trump has to say is worth hearing.

Yesterday, I saw a list of Trump's cabinet, what they do and what their former job/expertise was. Not a one related in the slightest to what they do for Trump. All the best people indeed. Now he's backtracking on his VA nominee (a person of import to me as a veteran) who has all manner of problems all of which Trump blames on obstructionist Democrats. He says all Democrats do is obstruct. I reminded him they learned the lesson from his party and asked if that is not an appropriate tactic why Garland is NOT on the Supreme Court. I may be waiting a bit for an answer to that. :^). Remember too this the idiot who clocked Trump's weight at 239 pounds, probably 60 or more too few, and who said he was such a fine draft dodging specimen that, despite the bone spurs, if he changed his diet a bit could live to 200. God forbid.

But my favorite thing yesterday was the video I saw of Trump trying to hold Melania's hand, again. She was having NONE of that, he had to physically grab it (not an uncommon thing for this predator). Remember the first time he tried that he and Melania were following Bibi and his wife off a plane and he just rushed down ahead of her, as usual, and as he was walking I saw him look at Bibi and notice they were holding hands, THEN he decided, for the cameras he might do the same, and Melania slapped his hand away several times - I saw HER looking at him, looking at them and knew she knew it was for show. Nice to see her show some spunk. Particularly now. I'd imagine the picture of President Obama being his usual charming self and her with the only real smile I've ever seen on her face at Barbara Bush's funeral fueled Trump's rage-tweeting all weekend because he never sees that look on her face is my bet. And, of course, Obama is not white. Which would be doubly galling to a racist like Trump. Not a good week for him so far. Samantha ought have fun with it all tonight, I'd think. :^)

And the audience laughed at his attempted hug and Melania looked happier at the funeral than here...France did send troops to Syria over what the UN found to be rebel use of chemical weapons and not Assad (i.e., the folks the US is supporting)...Iraq all over again without any real secrecy...

Enjoyed every comment! Thanks TC, for bringing us together with our mutual commiseration, and a nice dose of humor to help us get through it all,..... The dander maneuver is pure imbecility of a politician without a clue about dignity, respect, diplomacy, and modeling leadership skills. I'd enjoy more of Melania's "Can't Touch This," display to our fellow Americans!
