I salute all vets and for those with limited funds who cannot honor as Freya suggests, how about a petition effort to stop Trump from the VA cuts he is supporting to show we care more than just this one day?

Salute to those Veterans who stepped up, and served this great Country of ours, in war and in Peace. Prayers for our fallen comrades. The flyover at the local cemetery still make me weep, with the mournful
cadence of Taps.

I am a Navy Vet, and would do it all over again.
My spouse, daughter, and son are also Navy Veterans. I marched in the parade yesterday to honor this day.

Happy Remembrance Day to our Northern Neighbors as well. !!

Thank you, AS a veteran, I am offended that "private" charities for veterans even EXIST. The United States government sent us into harms way it is that SAME government which now owes us the care many of us, including me, need. That this should be dumped onto private charities (some of which are nothing more than scams) is disgusting to me, an affront to my service and my person. And to every veteran of this nation's military. So, I'm not happy with the suggestion to make veterans charity cases. Not even a little. And, no, I am NOT happy with how veterans have been treated, ARE treated, by BOTH effing parties. I was AT my local VA clinic Friday, do you know how long it takes to get a routine appointment with a primary care doctor? Three months. Yeah. Give it to charity, they can do better. Rant over.

This is a painful day for us because my father was killed in service and I know how awful that is for families. My daughter's also a veteran and we both support WOUNDED WARRIOR, which does a lot for those who served with sacrifice.

OH..and, PS---I agree with Gene that it's despicable to know our own government can't do enough for veterans. But, Gene...some are so specific that I'd rather see them tackle the issues than an agency which is just quietly and repeatedly DE-funded by a Congress who doesn't give a damn! Perhaps some of these newly elected people will actually care about veterans? We can only hope....

Gene ~ I know for a fact from a friend what goes on. Tho my father has passed away, I feel so much pain from what the GOVERNMENT and the politicians promise but NEVER EVER DELIVER!
Vets have to do back flips for help. THIS IS SINFUL and I'm quite angry.

Sorry, I posted this last Sunday on PP but forgot to copy it to Care2.

Last year I posted In Remembrance — In Flanders Fields complete with pictures from WWI. And I very much appreciate Nameless’ post yesterday Giant Poppies Light Up Liberty Memorial in KCMO.

In Canada, as in much of the British Commonwealth, Remembrance Day (also known as Armistice Day) is a solemn occasion and we do not say ‘Happy Remembrance Day’. In 1931, Armistice Day was changed to Remembrance Day to include the fallen of all modern wars, and then changed again to include survivors too. Thank you to all our veterans. We asked you to do what no person should be asked to do, and you stepped up.

When I was a teen, I always went to the Cenotaph for services because I became acutely aware that my grandfather survived that era when so many others did not. He was in the Canadian army but, as I was told, he had a medical condition that meant no overseas duty. He served at home instead. So someone else served overseas and I remembered them. During WWII, he served in London, UK as a civilian accepting the post of the director of the Beaver Club, a recreation spot for Canadian non-commissioned troops.

To my American friends, Happy Veterans Day! Thank you for your service. You too answered the call when your government asked.

Resist, Persist, Remove!!!

Bone spurs, my ass! More likely brain spurs!

Silence is Consent!!!
