Two unsuccessful city council candidates in Riverdale say a fellow candidate committed fraud when she ran as a woman...misled voters by identifying herself as a female during the Nov. 6 election...lawsuit identifies her as MICHAEL Bruce, not Michelle.

Wow. Sore losers, much?

Her driver's license states she is female. Okay, in order to obtain a driver's license, one must submit two forms of ID (usually a birth certificate and social security card). I find it quite reasonable that if she claims to be female, her license states "female", then she is safe running for office as a female.

This sounds like someone is just pissed off that a transgender beat them.

Well, it might be that some voters base their votes on what's important to them. Remember this:

Naturally the losers would be sore if somebody won on the issues instead of on bullshit. That's unfair competition these days. ;)

I'd be very interested if this actually went to trial, to see exactly what kind of fraud those sore losers claim that Michelle committed. Would there be some loss to citizens if any individual city council member were male, female, intersex, or transgender, so long as they did the job they were elected to do? I don't think so.

If somebody is hired to repair a washing machine, a car, a computer, a pothole, or a leaky heart valve, and they do so properly, I don't think anyone has any complaint if they find out that the person who did the repair was female when they'd expected a male or vice versa. And if they don't do the job properly, somebody might have a complaint even if the plumber, mechanic, technician, road worker, or surgeon had properly represented their genital status. Could the company tell a customer, "Well, your washing machine still doesn't work, but you have no complaint because you asked for a repairman and we sent a man to fix it?" Or could a customer say, "I'm going to sue you because even though you repaired my washing machine, I asked for a repairman and you sent a repairwoman?" I'm not a lawyer, but my understanding is that unless you can claim that something was lost or some harm was done, you haven't got a case.

Now if part of the job of those city councilmembers is providing sexual services to the mayor or city manager, and it was included in the job description that they had to be a particular sex in order to perform that part of their duties, then they might very well win on the merits. ;)

Oh, please, more prejudice from the country that makes a disgusting habit of it...who cares what s/he is? If s/he won, then that's that. Sore losers...noted/shared

I think you vote for the person based on their platform.....not wether they're a man or a woman!!

I agree! I don't vote based on gender. That would be illogical! S/he is an incumbant, so s/he must have been doing a good job if s/he was re-elected to the City Council...

What a tempest in a teapot! Those sore losers should be finding their lawsuits dismissed with prejudice.

Noted, Kathy. Gender, religion, sexual orientation, what part of the country they're from, fat? too thin? divorced? take a tranquiler now and then? Good gief! Vote the issues, vote the record for getting results, listen to the forums, read what the League of Women Voters have to say. When I go into cardiac arrest from some of what I read, let the record show I do not care about color of skin, gender, or anything else. Get me someone who can get my heart going again, preferably someone who knows how to do it and could do it even better the next time. I won't be interested in anything else about them.

Wednesday November 21, 2007, 2:19 am's time we let people be people - as long as they're law-abiding citizens. There are so many criminals in our streets nowadays....let's let those who live in peace, and are true to themselves be happy. They deserve to be on this Earth as much as any of the rest of us.
