A small restaurant is giving with a big heart. Marché Ferdous, a Muslim-owned eatery in Montreal, hands out free meals to anyone who is hungry and cannot afford to pay.

Great news, Angie - thanks for posting. I'm used to such actions but then I live in a Muslim country ;-). I know of a man in the Bazar (Khan el Khalili) who sets up a table every Friday at lunch time outside his shop for poor ones to come and eat. And mind you - he himself doesn't have all that much especially now as tourism is down to a sheer trickle. Wish there were more people like them - our world would sure be a better place!

You said it, Birgit! If every church, mosque, synagogue and other religious institution would do even a tenth that it could to alleviate hunger and homelessness, nobody in this country would have to go to bed hungry, and nobody would have to sleep on the streets and risk harassment from cruel cops.
