Sadly, Obama and the Democrats in Congress seem perfectly content to allow a bad situation to get worse by refusing to offer any viable solution to these growing problems. Rise in Unemployment and Debt combine for a Record 80% 'Misery Index' as of May!

There is a rogue shriveling-by-the-day Pro-Obama network operating on Care2 News, so don't let them fool you with their feeble attempt to subvert the real news ...

Because they will surely come and attack this article with absolutely no mainstream counter-evidence to support any other possible conclusion!

GROW UP and quit fooling yourself. There is no rogue Pro-Obama network. Obama does have a plan...agree with it in part, or. . .not. If the ridiculous infotainment industry would actually engage in genuine in depth well researched journalistic efforts and report news...the content could be better referenced and evaluated by the public. All government plans, proposals, legislation, data, et al can be read and reviewed first at the individual bodies, departments, agencies', etc., websites. . .an informative exercise obviously not engaged in by most of the citizenry. In the meantime try some cerebral detox and dump this nonsensical at-the-curb faux news rubbish. . .it can result in permanent brain damage.

"We know all those facts about Florida and what Katherine Harris did, and the private firm that took African-Americans off the voting rolls and prohibited them from voting. But I've been surprised in this first week how many average Americans were not aware of all of the trickery and deceit that took place in the year before the election to fix it for George W. Bush." ― Michael Moore

I agree Jason, but are we to hope and believe that China will somehow miraculously 'forgive' the United States for its ... What is it now? ... XX Trillion Dollar Toxic Debt???

However, I don't think that's likely nor realistic in the real world.

I really don't like politics taking center stage on Care2, but I do despair over the upcoming American election. I will vote with conscience and try to take in all the various figures published by right and left wing media but it is becoming increasingly difficult to swallow some of the rhetoric.

The bottom line for me though isn't the economy, it's the leaks of information which are endangering lives of America's allies. Either the USA gets to the bottom of this problem or there will be no more allies and the costs of protecting the USA will increase. Mr Obama and Mr Holder, it's now your moment to be open and transparent.

The choices are clearly:

#1. Barack Obama = Radical Socialist-Marxist Liberal for 4 More Years = The globalized "New American Union".

#2. Anyone except President Obama 2012.

As one article delicately stated our dilemma ...

It's NOT about electing Mitt Romney as president in 2012, but it is in fact ALL about un-electing Barack Obama!!!

Think About It.

The Fiscal Legacy of George W. Bush

Bruce Bartlett held senior policy roles in the Reagan and George H.W. Bush administrations and served on the staffs of Representatives Jack Kemp and Ron Paul. He is the author of “The Benefit and the Burden: Tax Reform – Why We Need It and What It Will Take.”

Republicans assert that Barack Obama assumed sole responsibility for the budget on Jan. 20, 2009. From that date, all increases in the debt or deficit are his responsibility and no one else’s, they say.

Today’s Economist

Perspectives from expert contributors.

This is, of course, nonsense – and the American people know it. As I documented in a previous post, even today 43 percent of them hold George W. Bush responsible for the current budget deficit versus only 14 percent who blame Mr. Obama.

The American people are right; Mr. Bush is more responsible, as a new report from the Congressional Budget Office documents.

In January 2001, the office projected that the federal government would run a total budget surplus of $3.5 trillion through 2008 if policy was unchanged and the economy continued according to forecast. In fact, there was a deficit of $5.5 trillion.

The projected surplus was primarily the result of two factors. First was a big tax increase in 1993 that every Republican in Congress voted against, saying that it would tank the economy. This belief was wrong. The economy boomed in 1994, growing 4.1 percent that year and strongly throughout the Clinton administration.

The second major contributor to budget surpluses that emerged in 1998 was tough budget controls that were part of the 1990 and 1993 budget deals. The main one was a requirement that spending could not be increased or taxes cut unless offset by spending cuts or tax increases. This was known as Paygo, for pay as you go.

During the 2000 campaign, Mr. Bush warned that budget surpluses were dangerous because Congress might spend them, even though Paygo rules prevented this from happening. His Feb. 28, 2001, budget message reiterated this point and asserted that future surpluses were likely to be even larger than projected due principally to anticipated strong revenue growth.

This was the primary justification for a big tax cut. Subsequently, as it became clear that the economy was slowing – a recession began in March 2001 – that became a further justification.

The 2001 tax cut did nothing to stimulate the economy, yet Republicans pushed for additional tax cuts in 2002, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2008. The economy continued to languish even as the Treasury hemorrhaged revenue, which fell to 17.5 percent of the gross domestic product in 2008 from 20.6 percent in 2000. Republicans abolished Paygo in 2002, and spending rose to 20.7 percent of G.D.P. in 2008 from 18.2 percent in 2001.

According to the C.B.O., by the end of the Bush administration, legislated tax cuts reduced revenues and increased the national debt by $1.6 trillion. Slower-than-expected growth further reduced revenues by $1.4 trillion.

However, the Bush tax cuts continued through 2010, well into the Obama administration. These reduced revenues by another $369 billion, adding that much to the debt. Legislated tax cuts enacted by President Obama and Democrats in Congress reduced revenues by an additional $407 billion in 2009 and 2010. Slower growth reduced revenues by a further $1.3 trillion. Contrary to Republican assertions, there were no additional revenues from legislated tax increases.

In late 2010, Mr. Obama agreed to extend all the Bush tax cuts for another two years. In 2011, this reduced revenues by $105 billion.

On the spending side, legislated increases during the Bush administration added $2.4 trillion to deficits and the debt through 2008. This includes $121 billion for Medicare Part D, a new entitlement program enacted by Republicans in 2003.

Economic factors added almost nothing to increased spending – just $27 billion in total. This is mainly because interest rates were much lower than C.B.O. had anticipated, leading to lower spending for interest on the debt.

After 2008, it becomes harder to separate spending that was initiated under Mr. Bush from that under Mr. Obama. We do know that spending for Part D has risen rapidly – Republicans phased in the program to disguise its budgetary cost – adding $150 billion to the debt during 2009-11.

According to a recent report from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, the unfunded wars in Iraq and Afghanistan increased the debt by $795 billion through the end of fiscal 2008. The continuation of these wars by Mr. Obama added another $488 billion through the end of 2011.

Putting all the numbers in the C.B.O. report together, we see that continuation of tax and budget policies and economic conditions in place at the end of the Clinton administration would have led to a cumulative budget surplus of $5.6 trillion through 2011 – enough to pay off the $5.6 trillion national debt at the end of 2000.

Tax cuts and slower-than-expected growth reduced revenues by $6.1 trillion and spending was $5.6 trillion higher, a turnaround of $11.7 trillion. Of this total, the C.B.O. attributes 72 percent to legislated tax cuts and spending increases, 27 percent to economic and technical factors. Of the latter, 56 percent occurred from 2009 to 2011.

Republicans would have us believe that somehow we could have avoided the recession and balanced the budget since 2009 if only they had been in charge. This would be a neat trick considering that the recession began in December 2007, according to the National Bureau of Economic Research.

They would also have us believe that all of the increase in debt resulted solely from higher spending, nothing from lower revenues caused by tax cuts. And they continually imply that one of the least popular spending increases of recent years, the Troubled Asset Relief Program, was an Obama administration program, when in fact it was a Bush administration initiative proposed by the Treasury Department that was signed into law by Mr. Bush on Oct. 3, 2008.

Lastly, Republicans continue to insist that tax cuts are highly stimulative, often saying that they add nothing to the debt, when this is obviously ridiculous.

Conversely, they are adamant that tax increases must not be part of any deficit-reduction package because they never reduce deficits and instead are spent. This is also ridiculous, as the experience of the Clinton administration clearly shows. The new C.B.O. data confirm these facts.

And vote the Romney cancer in?

The message I posted above was deleted. Apparently it contained too much truth for neo-con brains to handle. Here it is again:

The choices are clearly:

#1. Barack Obama = Radical Socialist-Marxist Liberal for 4 More Years = The globalized "New American Union".

#2. Mitt Romney = Radical Socialist-Marxist Liberal for 4 More Years = The globalized "New American Union".

Which of the two:

* is more likely to waste our lives and our treasure on war-making?
* is more likely to give even more money to the billionaires at the top?
* is more likely to put even more people out of work?

It's hard to say. But the R's SYMBOLIZE austerity, war-making, corporate greed, deregulation and repression.

SO a vote for the R is a vote in support of the austerity measures that have wrecked Europe. It's a vote for the war-making that brought our country to its knees under Bush. It's a vote for a return to the bogus War on Terror -- more fear, more lies, more Americans in prison. It's a vote for a return to 2008, when Wall Street stole a trillion from our IRAs. It's a vote in favor of more bail-outs for billionaires and more jobs shipped overseas.

We cannot know what the candidates would actually do, if elected, but we can know what the two wings of the War Party symbolize right now, and the D wing symbolizes the interests of the bottom 99%.

But in fairness to him, who has time to work in between constant vacationing and golf rounds? Define "radical Left-Wing Nut", PinkMindy E..

Take me, for example.

* I believe in freedom, the Bill of Rights and national sovereignty
* I believe that war-making is wrong, stupid, costly and counter-productive
* I think our economic strength lies with Main Street, not Wall Street
* I oppose the misnamed "Fed", bailouts for billionaires, and upwards redistribution
* I believe that plundering the bottom 99% kills demand and stalls the economy
* I oppose corporate socialism and the insurance and pharmaceutical rackets
* I believe in competition and small business, the real job creator
* I support Social Security, Medicare, Single Payer, and the Public Option

Am I a "radical Left-Wing Nut"? What is so "radical" about peace and freedom, health care, employment, small business and sound money?

Bad as the D's are, the R's appear to be worse. We're victims of a hard-cop soft-cop routine, and I vote against the hard-cop. It's not a vote for Obama: It's a vote against Romney.

Pinky just doesn't get it....key words throw out for hype are of little interest or help for those interesting in doing what they can to solve the problems we face in the U.S. as well as Global. The portion of this artiles title ..."American Misery Index Hits Record High" in itself might have stirred more interest in this article being something other than misinformation/ B.S. etc., if it wasn't followed by the B.S. comment.."-- Obama Has NO Plan!!" . Anyone who has read and or listened to political news knows that he does have a plan ...if one agrees with it or not is the only thing to decide when it comes to the voters/people. This kind of hyped 'title' is what makes Pinky's posting standard 'tabloid' reading material from the moment the readers eyes have read the titles of the vast majority of them....These types of hyped untrue titles are a signal that the reader is usually about to read something filled with misinformation etc. That addition is what makes it clear that the poster is simply 'Obama Bashing' or as I prefer to think of it as 'racist trolling' for new members for radical rightwing groups,in my opinion.
At least people are starting to post opposing views and informative facts on these types of B.S./Tabloid that Pinky/ 'teabaggers' appear to prefer to post. It's time we stopped letting these kind of threads go without more than one or two opposing commenters and begin posting/commenting as to the real facts about them. Great going ..and thumbs up to those who have begun doing so.

Pinkie, perhaps you should think about adjusting the dosage of your meds or put down that worn out Rove/Koch Bros. playbook of rethoric from days gone by and start thinking for yourself..and yes...leave the tabloid hype for other sites where mindless people go to get their political news and views...would be something in your favor, I believe. FTY Pinky...There are too many people on care2 who do get their information from a variety of reliable sources..and not from FoxFakeNews,Tabloids,Rove/Koch Bros. playbook of old and worn out rethoric.

The only thing worse than a Dem. in the White House at this time would be a Republican/GOP/Neocon/Corporate lapdog from top to bottom, such as Mitt.

PM "Well at least Mitt Romney doesn't conspire to dismantle the U.S. Constitution!!! " ........Only because he hasn't had the chance yet!

You didn't listen to the debates then.

Essentially there is little difference between Romney and Obama. Both advocate more wars and interventions that are bankrupting the nation. Romney might actually be a bit worse on this one. He wants massive expansion of military spending. Although Obama increased "defense" spending more that Warmonger in Chief Bush.

Romney claims he believes in the free market. Anyone that believes in that hasn't listened either. He believes in, as does Obama, authoritarian capitalism. He might be a little better on this, but given his top contributors are the bailout banks, that's pretty doubtful.

Face it, the powerful are dictating the choices again. Both Obama and Romney represent them, not us. The American public is so misinformed they actually think the federal agencies protect them against the corporations! Pay no attention that the agencies are run by the corporations via the revolving door , lobby's. and the Congress that is barely pretending anymore.

Hey, I don't like Obama either. I didn't vote for him and won't in '12 either, but the idea that Romney is much different is just ludicrous. No, I won't vote for Romney just to get rid of Obama. If we don't vote FOR something, what's the point? The "lesser of two evils" has been overplayed.

You'll never learn...

Jason --

This is a make-or-break moment for middle-class Americans -- and anyone who cares needs to watch the speech President Obama made in Cleveland today.

In this election, we face a choice between two fundamentally different visions of how to grow the economy. The path Mitt Romney and his Republican allies want to take us down is exactly the one that led us to the 2008 crisis. We have to reject those policies and embrace the President's vision of growing the economy, not from the top down, but from the middle class out.

Hear from President Obama in his own words, and sign on to the principles he laid out.

The choice couldn't be clearer on the issues most important to ordinary Americans:

- Better Education: We need to invest in good teachers and help more students go to college and get job training -- not pack kids into classrooms and slash scholarships.

- More, Cleaner Energy: We need to invest in promising new sources of energy to create a market for innovation and good jobs of the future -- not go back to relying on foreign oil.

- Leading Through Innovation: We need to invest in our best scientists, researchers, and entrepreneurs so they innovate here -- not cede new ideas to countries like China and India.

- Job-Creating Infrastructure: We need roads, bridges, ports, and broadband technology that attract businesses that will create jobs here -- not more pet projects and bridges to nowhere.

- Fair, Simple Tax Reform: We need to reward businesses that create jobs here instead of rewarding outsourcing, and must ask the wealthiest to pay their fair share again -- not sacrifice investments critical to the middle class.

This economic crisis didn't start in 2008. For more than a decade before, we knew things weren't working the way they should. We saw costs for everything from health care to education rising faster than wages. Good-paying, middle-class jobs were becoming harder to find, as more and more companies moved production overseas.

The other side's solution was the same then as it is now -- massive tax cuts benefiting mainly the wealthy, rolling back regulations on risky behavior for Wall Street and banks, and slashes to services that the middle class depends on, like Medicare, education, and job training. A decade ago, Bill Clinton left a record surplus. But the last administration put two wars, two huge tax cuts, and the Medicare prescription program on a credit card, and handed President Obama a trillion dollar deficit and a raging economic crisis.

Incredibly, Romney and his allies want to go back to those same, disastrous policies: budget-busting tax cuts for the wealthy and free rein for Wall Street to write its own rules. We tried Mitt Romney's failed formula for most of the last decade. It benefitted a few, but exploded the deficit, crashed our economy, and devastated the middle class. It didn't grow our economy, create good jobs, or pay down our debt -- it did the opposite. And it won't work this time around either: Independent economists confirm that Romney's plan wouldn't cut the deficit, or even create a single job now -- in fact, it could slow growth and push us back into recession.

Today the President laid out a very different vision, one where everyone -- no matter who you are, where you're from, or how big your bank account is -- pitches in together to rebuild the foundations of our country and economy. Instead of another $250,000 tax cut for millionaires, Obama believes we should pay down our debt and invest in the things we know we need to grow the economy and strengthen the middle class. That means restoring and upgrading our crumbling infrastructure, investing in education, paying down our debt responsibly, and yes, asking the wealthiest Americans to pay a little more. This approach requires tough choices and shared sacrifice -- exactly how we built the American economy in the first place.

As supporters, it's on us to get this message out there.

Watch the President's speech, and share it with your friends, family -- heck, share it with everyone you know. There's even a helpful printout you can download and pass around:

Much misinformation here. The true Right is not Fascist. Fascist and National Socialism are some of the many totalitarian and authoritarian ideologies of the Left. I know it's hard to break with the "education" we Americans have been "gifted" with, but think about it.

If small and limited government is Right wing, then how can any ideology that wants to concentrate power in the State be "Right"? And both National Socialism and Fascism are ideologies that seek to concentrate power in the State. Question: After the Reichstag fire in pre Nazi 1933 Germany, the leaders of Communism and Socialism were killed and imprisoned. Later the wing of the Nazi movement that advocated more State control over business was purged when the Sturm Abteilung leadership was liquidated in the night of the long knives.

The Communism/Socialism rank and file was one of the largest movements in Germany at the time. The followers of those ideologies didn't evaporate. They joined the other Statist party: the National Socialist Workers Party. In droves and voluntarily. Why? Because after the economic debacle of the Great Depression, many of the German people were looking for an answer to their plight. They chose empowering the State as their answer and after the false flag Reichstag fire,The remaining party that represented that was the Nazi party. Hitler knew this would be the case.

Indeed, the Nazi's had an economic system that differed from Socialism and Communism. It is known as Fascist Economics or Authoritarian Capitalism. Under that system, most of the economy is privately owned, but the government tells the private ownership what to produce, how much, who gets it and how much the workers are paid including benefits. In return, the State guarantees a profit to the private owners,

Did you know that the original mass State implementation of "too big to fail " was Germany in the 1930's? Or that the first universal health care was Nazi? Or that first minimum standard of living was Nazi? State sponsored child care: Nazi. Those aren't 'Right" people. That's big authoritarian government. That's "Left".

The "Left" and the "Right" have been distorted more and more as time has passed. When examined correctly, many of the seeming contradictions between what we are told and what we see disappear.

So, count me on the Right. I don't like Authoritarian Capitalism, or a powerful State that is controlled by and for the Corporations. That's what both political party's stand for. The differences are largely illusions. That's why regardless of which party is in control, the policies never change.

Word Web Defination :

"Fascism: A political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism)"

In our case the authoritarian hierarchical would be the Corporates and or the 1% of the richest of Americans. Thus making Fascism 'the closer' to what is happening in the U.S. than other systems such as Socialism/Communism etc. Corporate/State being bedfellows so ta say are what made it work to the degree it did in Germany, as J. Steve pointed out above. Puppets in the White House doing the bidding of corporates first and formost..the state in our case now being in the hands of the Corporates...of,by and for the Corporates. The reverse being Hitler telling the business what to do, always in their interest .Now the figure heads in the WHite House are puppets not a Hitler. Not a carbon copy of Hitler/Germany's fascism but ours is heading in the direction to 'the closest' defined system to Germany's fascist system. The Corportes/1% have just eliminated the 'middle man' so to say...which at that time was Hitler obviously. More brilliant in concept than facism in the days of Hitler/ today fascist movement has no one face to point to as to the real power as it was with Hitler/Mussolini ...but a 'revived form' of fascist from days gone by all the same. The only faces, if one does want to point to..however bogus as to their being the real power, will be there for four to eight years only but the Corporate/fascist system will remain within the power of the 1% authoritarian hierarchical .

Word Web dictionary defines fascism :
"A political theory advocating an authoritarian hierarchical government (as opposed to democracy or liberalism)"

The authoritarian hierarchical 'form of fascism' today would be the Corporates/1 % of richest Americans. Unlike the fascism in Hitlers day the real power has eliminated the middle man...aka Hitler/Mussolini of their time. Hitler did what was best for Corporates and now the Corporates and the 1% are doing what is best for them via their corporate owned politicans..of many faces..not just one power head as Hitler. A more brilliant form of fascism is what we now face. Instead of the state and Corporates being bedfellows..the Corporates now own the state and they need not sleep with any one other than each other , so ta say...This was accomplished via buying/owning the politicans of many faces etc.

Homeland Security and the Patriot act were both Hitler concepts/department/agencies in his day. Clues have been place along the way of the past few years especially and have gone unchallenged by the people due to the clever propaganda and terroritst/religion fear shields. The 'right' IS the closest form of fascism ,the 'right', than it is to any other form/system of government by definition...such as Socialism/communism etc. I can not see mistaking it for anything other than what it is...a revised/more brilliant form of Fascism. The face of real power is blank...only puppets in the White House that will change with elections while their system remains in place along with the real power...We can safely say that Fasism is born again...largely supported by 'born agains'/other Christians and racist just as in Hitlers day. The base foundation of fascism remains the same...."authoritarian hierarchical" . Thus , the 'right' is supporting a form of Fascism over that of all other defined systems of government currently being tossed about

The simple truth is Romney blames and blusters for 3 1/2 years of painfully slow recovery but has no plan himself unless one considers unacceptable austerity for those in the middle and lower income brackets and more tax cuts for the rich.

Simply put, no one, but no one could have done better with the economy due ti the deep economic disaster of the previous 8 years, unbridled banking and wall street greed and, most of all, a Congress bent doing nothing to improve the economy or the lives of the American people.

@Jason R.

This tells the story, why Bush was so bad at the end of his term.

Some people aren't aware of all of this. Don't just skim over this, please read it slowly and let it sink in. If in doubt, check it out.

The day the democrats took over was not January 22nd 2009, it was actually January 3, 2007... the day the Democrats took over the House of Representatives and the Senate, at the very start of the 110th Congress.

The Democrat Party controlled a majority in both chambers for the first time since the end of the 103rd Congress in 1995.

For those who are listening to the liberals propagating the fallacy that everything is "Bush's Fault", think about this:

January 3rd, 2007 was the day the Democrats took over the Senate and the Congress. At the time:

The DOW Jones closed at 12,621.77
The GDP for the previous quarter was 3.5%
The Unemployment rate was 4.6%

George Bush's Economic policies SET A RECORD of 52 STRAIGHT MONTHS of JOB GROWTH
Remember the day...

January 3rd, 2007 was the day that Barney Frank took over the House Financial Services Committee and Chris Dodd took over the Senate Banking Committee.

The economic meltdown that happened 15 months later was in what part of the economy?

Unemployment... to this CRISIS by (among MANY other things) dumping 5-6 TRILLION Dollars of toxic loans on the economy from YOUR Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac FIASCOES!

Bush asked Congress 17 TIMES to stop Fannie & Freddie - starting in 2001 because it was financially risky for the US economy.

And who took the THIRD highest pay-off from Fannie Mae AND Freddie Mac? OBAMA
And who fought against reform of Fannie and Freddie?
OBAMA and the Democrat Congress
So when someone tries to blame Bush..

Budgets do not come from the White House. They come from Congress, and the party that controlled Congress since January 2007 is the Democrat Party.

Furthermore, the Democrats controlled the budget process for 2008 & 2009 as well as 2010 & 2011.
In that first year, they had to contend with George Bush, which caused them to compromise on spending, when Bush somewhat belatedly got tough on spending increases.

For 2009 though, Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid bypassed George Bush entirely, passing continuing resolutions to keep government running until Barack Obama could take office. At that time, they passed a massive omnibus spending bill to complete the 2009 budgets.

And where was Barack Obama during this time? He was a member of that very Congress that passed all of these massive spending bills, and he signed the omnibus bill as President to complete 2009.

If the Democrats inherited any deficit, it was the 2007 deficit, the last of the Republican budgets. That deficit was the lowest in five years, and the fourth straight decline in deficit spending. After that, Democrats in Congress took control of spending, and that includes Barack Obama, who voted for the budgets.

If Obama inherited anything, he inherited it from himself. In a nutshell, what Obama is saying is "I inherited a deficit that I voted for and then I voted to expand that deficit four-fold since January 20th."

Jason R. What part of Bush not being from the true right is so hard for you to understand??????

1, The true right is anti international intervention . Bush invaded a country on a pretext. Obama did too.
2. The true right is limited government. Bush expanded government vastly. Obama did too.
3. The true right is against money expansion: Bush applauded Greenspan and hired Bernanke. Obama reaffirmed Bernanke
4. The true right is against Constitutional rights being infringed on. Bush pushed the Patriot Act. Obama supported it and expanded it.

I could go on for quite a while, but you confuse Neo-Conservatives and warmongers like Bush, Clinton and Obama with the true right.

Learn a little history and political theory before you say really dumb things.

Yes Jae. That's the system we have alright, but I differ with the details. It isn't the 1% although I would agree it's with most of the .1% (point one percent). That's the bunch that are connected to the finance sector. The are at the root of the Corporatism that has a stranglehold over this country and the world.

Many of the 1% are the most productive people in our society. Doctors, and small businesspeople for example. But those that game the system through government are destroying the nation.

We're also going to disagree on the solutions Jae, but I respect those that have actual beliefs and , don't follow the corporate media disinformation.

Read: The Vampire Economy and the Market which details "our" economic system and it's corporate fascist economics

Note that those that resisted the rise of the Third Reich were classical liberals. Not the same as today's liberals btw. .

Why do people believe that giving money to the poor encourages laziness, but giving money to the rich encourages productivity?

When three people plan a convenience store robbery, their charged with "conspiracy"; when the world's billionaires get together and plan the next war, we call it a "social gathering", and those who insist otherwise are denounced as "conspiracy theorists".

#1. President Obama has put forth NO viable economic repair plan -- Only massive Stimulus 1, 2, 3 ... etc. spending, which is sky-rocketing the National Debt and mounting pressure for a long-term Government Shutdown.

#2. He promised on video to step-down if he could not resolve the situation within 3 years -- It has now been 3.6 years with absolutely NO evidence of any real type of encompassing 'Recovery' data.

#3. Now Obama freely admits that it would take 10 years for any evidence for an economic recovery, as he begs on national television to give him a chance for 4 More Years.

#4. President Obama talks about 'Forward', however he is always looking BACKWARD while finger-pointing and blame-storming the previous administration and anyone else that he can cast his self-blame upon.

#5. The only real plan that President Obama has exhibited is one of some type of radical Socialist-Marxist vision regarding a globalized New 'American Union' by relinquishing U.S. sovereignty, rights and freedoms.

A Sign shop reports a 400% profit increase in "Going Out of Business" signs, however President Barack Obama says everything is going just FINE, because as he would have to quickly counter and point-out to his Koolaid drinking shriveling-by-the-day flock, that this seemingly dark cloud's silver-lining is obviously the fact that this sign shop is actually making a substantial profit-margin toward his U.S. Economic 'Recovery'.

Amazing. You would think that after all this time people would realize that 90% of the Democrats and the 90% of the Republicans represent the same agenda. The rhetoric is just that. They keep the people divided by creating money through the corrupt banking system, and by using it pay off those who get a cut and then lie to the American people.

The poor are afraid to lose what little they have and so support the Democrats who that erroneously believe are protecting them. The wealthy use leverage and inflation of asset prices to gain a bigger piece of a shrinking economic pie. The US middle class shrinks as prices go up and their income remains flat. Jobs flee the nation and giant multinationals crush their domestic competition through their control Federal agencies which suppress upstart competitors.

In desperation many of the middle class, and formally prosperous who have lost their jobs attempt to start businesses. Most fail and they lose their meager savings.; adding to the ranks of the despairing. A large number have failed because of the advantages given locally to giant corporate concerns. Others stagger under local regulations that a ever expanding bureaucratic system. In many areas of the country, like Greece and third world conutires, change hands to expiate the licenses and permits.

Continued from above: (clumsy finger syndrome)

.........In many areas of the country, like Greece and third world countries , bribes, sometimes in the form of political "contributions" change hands to expiate the licenses and permits. Corruption is becoming systemic.

Debt continues to rise, jeopardizing the prosperity of future generations. The yet to be born will pay the price of the excesses of the present. Few seem to care.

The faux left disingenuously claims the problem is merely revenue. They conveniently don't report that a the increase in taxes on the 1% only results in a deficit reduction of about 15% of the trillion dollar plus deficit. At the same time, they advocate for an expansion of government spending that would easily wipe out the entire tax increase. Likewise they dismiss the effect this would have on such as Doctors and professional couples that would remove the incentives for their education and efforts.

Likewise the faux right is unwilling to give up their massive expenditures on military spending. The US spends as much as the rest of the world and like the faux left for domestic spending, they wish to massively expand the spending of military spending.

Neither "side" will be willing to give up their spending spree and, most likely, they will "compromise" to allow both "sides: to get their larger piece of the declining economy. The diversion of resources will result in a accelerating decline with the protected and government connected maintaining and enhancing their prosperity at the expense of their fellow Americans and the next generations.

Of course neither "side" will end the advantages the very top will have. Indeed, they get a percentage of every debt sold and use that to maintain their hegemony. The faux left makes claims about the 1%, but the faux left is their collaborator. Deficit spending results in more money being created to pay for the spending in one or another monetize scheme. That, in turn, increases asset values. Leverage of assets allows the financially connected to multiply their wealth, and so the spending advocated by both "sides" results in rapid wealth appreciation in the very wealthiest. All of this is, of course, is no coincidence.

Stop enabling this corruption. The idea that government is the solution is false.

Why does this always degenerate into a' I-hate-Obama tirade"? Hey, there IS a lot to dislike, but I can the same thing about most of the recent Occupants of the White House.

Obama is a symptom, not the cause. The same thing can be said of the vast majority of politicians and media people, Why do people keep enabling them? The idea that the people are being represented in "our" political an increasingly obvious sham.

Obama is very useful to the elites. He is a lightening rod. Intentionally so. But look at what he actually does. He has continued and advanced the same policies that his predecessors. . The politicians don't actually oppose the agenda, they only differ in their methods, their management style, their rhetoric and their rationalizations on continuing the same failed policies.

When I say "failed policies", I mean failed for us and for the nation. They are a great success for the elites. Government moves lightening quick to protect and enhance their wealth and power. We've especially seen this over the past few years, but it's just a bit more out in the open. Meanwhile, the new worth of the American middle class hit a 20 year low this year.

Give up on hating others because you think they represent the other "side". The "sides" are a fraud. Look behind the curtain. The same elites benefit regardless of which "side" is in power. They do so at the expense of the rest of us.

When the people are divided the elites rejoice.

Ask yourselves a question:

This is 100% Bush and the right's 'Misery Index'. To say something this idiotic is to say the misery of the first great depression was FDR's fault. it just doesn't mirror reality in any way.

These hate posts are idiotic. See Idiocracy trailer on u tube. What's so different from it and this? Just early is all. Hurry mindy or you'll miss Owe, My Balls!

I mean...Really.

Oh! And Romney agrees with Obama's recent immigration decision. Stop breaking up families. Racists!

So, count me on the Right. I don't like Authoritarian Capitalism, or a powerful State that is controlled by and for the Corporations. That's what both political party's stand for. The differences are largely illusions. That's why regardless of which party is in control, the policies never change. Good point Jim Steve, I like. BTW...Mittens Romney has every chance of winning because of the unclear vision and ineptness of Obama. Obama vote, no way from democrat, Romney vote, hell no, and other candidate would do. Hell, I'd vote of Jesse Jackson, at least he would have the common man's interest and middle class at heart.

Sound familiar? A few tweaks by the 4th reich but the bush plan was the same...

How Did Hitler’s Economic Policies Relate to His Schemes For Territorial Expansion?

Hitler was not an economic theorist – Nazism had no underlying economic component – was fundamentally racist and volkischand economic factors were subordinate

Hitler did have ideas though about his economic policy – see in MK and ZB – four main priorities:

1. Wanted to create an autarkic system so Germany would be able to sustain a broader hegemony within Europe

2. To target the lands to the east

3. This involved expansion and therefore conflict so the infrastructure would have to accommodate an increase in militaryexpenditure

4. He needed the support of the German people for this and could not risk depressing living standards too much

How was he to fit them together? 1920s saw the emergence of the lebensraum policy which was to provide the infrastructure for all Hitler’s ideas about the ultimate purpose of economic change – post 1933 got the chance to put in to practice

Hitler’s underlying economic approach changed in the 1920s – were two possible approached to the establishment of future Nazieconomic policy – socialism or nationalistic

First was championed by Strasser – by 1930 Hitler had made it clear what his views were

Latter was Hitler's preference – was based on the logical connection between territorial expansion and self-sufficiency – lebensraum and autarky – twin pillars of Hitler’s strategy

Such goals would involve conflict but as Hitler said in MK – the strong would prevail

Some have dismissed these ideas as the fantasies of an immature politician – wrong to do so:

Many on the conservative right took them seriously in the 1920s and early 1930s as fitted with the pan German ideas of theSecond Reich – Hitler was bale to find converts among the respectable

Also the eventual shaping of German hegemony in Europe bears a close resemblance to the original prototype – MK may not bea blueprint but also not daydreaming

Autarky would underpin the future economy – lebensraum would provide the geographical cohesion and rearmament would provide the means of achieving lebensraum – how to do this – two contrasting answers

1. One line of argument would stress that the implementation of economic policy became essentially pragmatic – Hitler had tomodify his theories on the domestic front just as he did in foreign policy until he was certain of his power base – Schacht's initial policies were therefore based on the immediate requirements of job creation and wage control – Schacht was sensible andestablished trade agreements with the Balkan states – raw materials for German goods – was tolerated until 1936 but then Hitler wanted to place more emphasis on rearmament than Schacht thought was wise

By now Hitler was more established and there had been enough of a recovery to allow an acceleration in the rearmament programme – 1937 Hossbach Hitler made it clear that they were to prepare for war – Goering and the Four Year Plan placed theGerman economy on a war footing with the promotion of self sufficiency and developing substitutes for materials

Again Hitler had to settle for a pragmatic course – several historians have argued that he could not pursue a policy geared to totalmobilisation and total war

– maintains that he still needed the support of the German consumer and had to settle or a compromise – an economy thatwould allow a limited degree of rearmament but still allowing a reasonable level of consumer affluence

– balance meant the creation of the plunder economy – the only way in which Germany could grow from limitedmobilisation was by steadily expanding its economic base through a series of rapid and specifically targeted conquests – Hitler committed himself to starting war in the near future – Blitzkrieg was an economic devise and seemed to work until 1941

Hiden and Farquharson
– Hitler did not want to use a Marxist control system or the capitalist system of pre 1929 – what yousee is implementing lebensraum which developed a policy of internal economic empire akin to the earlier European policy of mercantilism

Total war then wrecked the new economic order – once Blitzkrieg failed to work then had trouble

2. From the start Hitler moved systematically towards equipping Germany with an economic base capable of achievinglebensraum

– the rearmament programme that began in 1933 was nothing less than the deliberate unhinging of the nationaleconomy with the intention of recovering the financial losses by exploiting other national economies of Europe within theconfines of a German dominated empire conquered by force

Is true that some of Schacht’s policies were a continuation of Bruning’s deflationary approach – were tolerated by Hitler whosaw them as essential for the establishment of the infrastructure of autarky

Hence the trading networks with the Balkans would be the first step in the establishment of German hegemony

Public works – the autobahns – would help the military infrastructure

Controls on wages – create a disciplined workforce

Hitler was using the New Plan as the first stage in the move towards total war

Don't even think that the fascist, nazi republican party doesn't want to pick right up where they left off. They lie through their teeth.

It's completely outrageous for anyone to believe that President Obama in fact 'fights for the middle-class', when all He has done in reality during 3.6 years is continuously OUT-SOURCE massive American employment opportunities to the lowest bidding nations!!!

Jason R.... A distorted view.

This is more accurate:

"When President Paul von Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler German Chancellor on January 30, 1933, people did not know what to expect as regards the economic policy of the new regime. There were disturbing signs that the National Socialists had radical reforms in mind. The "unalterable" 25 point 1920 program of the party proposed, among other things, "that all unearned income, and all income that does not arise from work, be abolished"; "the nationalization of all trusts"; "profit-sharing in large industries"; and "an agrarian reform in accordance with our national requirements, and the enactment of a law to expropriate the owners without compensation of any land needed for the common purpose. The abolition of ground rents, and the prohibition of all speculation in land."

In these days of frequent condemnations, sometimes, I regret to say by professed libertarians, of Wal-Mart and similar chains, point 16 of the program is worth noting: "We demand … the immediate communalization of large stores which will be rented cheaply to small tradespeople."

Other signs pointed to a radical program as well. Ferdinand Zimmerman, who worked as an important economic planner for the Nazis, had been before their rise to power a contributor under the pen name Ferdinand Fried, to the journal Die Tat, edited by Hans Zehrer, and a leading member of a group of nationalist intellectuals known as the Tatkreis. Fried strongly opposed capitalism, analyzing it in almost Marxist terms. In an evaluation of Fried's book Das Ende des Kapitalismus (The End of Capitalism), for a possible English translation, Isaiah Berlin referred to

an unconditional acceptance of Marxio-Sombartian premisses with regard to the death of individualism, growth of mass production, collectivism, etc., and from these the natural conclusion is drawn that since collectivism is coming anyway, it might as well be dealt with efficiently and fairly by being converted from trust-collectivism into State-ownership of the means of production. All this of course is the German Social-Democratic Marxism … (Letter from Isaiah Berlin to Geoffrey Faber, January 4, 1932, in Isaiah Berlin, Letters, 1928–1946, Henry Hardy, ed., Cambridge University press, 2004, pp. 638–39)

Wilhelm Roepke wrote a devastating contemporary criticism of Fried, now available in translation in his Against the Tide (Regnery, 1969). One of the best scholarly accounts of Fried's views, which includes some discussion of his activities under the Nazi regime, is in Walter Struve, Elites Against Democracy: Leadership Ideals in Bourgeois Political Thought in Germany, 1890–1933, Princeton University Press, 1973).

Yet at the inception of the regime, many speculated on whether these radical measures were more than propaganda. It was well known that the party had right and left wings; people wondered whether anticapitalist views were limited to the party's left. Probably the most prominent on the party's left were Gregor Strasser and his brother Otto. Dr. Joseph Goebbels, later notorious as the minster for propaganda, was also an ardent leftist. Gottfried Feder, the principal author of the 20-point program, famous for his denunciations of the "tyranny of interest" became an economic planner in the government."

Here's a interesting information:

"Keynes himself viewed the Nazi efforts with favor. In his preface to the German edition of The General Theory, dated September 7, 1936, Keynes indicated that the ideas of his book could more readily be carried out under an authoritarian regime:

Nevertheless the theory of output as a whole, which is what the following book purports to provide, is more easily adapted to the conditions of a totalitarian state, than is the theory of the production and distribution of a given output under conditions of free competition and a large measure of laissez-faire.

As Donald Moggridge points out, the published German version (but not Keynes's draft) also said,

Although I have thus worked it [Keynes's theory] out having the conditions in the Anglo-Saxon countries in view — where a great deal of laissez-faire still prevails — it yet remains applicable to situations in which national leadership is more pronounced. (Donald Moggridge, Maynard Keynes: An Economist's Biography, Routledge, 1995, p. 611.)[2]"

"Once this program had begun, the dynamic to which Mises called attention developed in inexorable fashion: one intervention led to another, until the entire economy was brought under government control. Businesses who were reluctant to follow the plans of the New Order had to be forced into line. One law allowed the government to impose compulsory cartels. By 1936, the Four Year Plan, headed by Hermann Goering, changed the nature of the German economy.

On 18 October [1936] Goering was given Hitler's formal authorization as general plenipotentiary for the Four Year Plan. On the following days he presented decrees empowering him to take responsibility for virtually every aspect of economic policy, including control of the business media. (Tooze, pp. 223–24.)"

"No longer could the economy be described as a capitalist one. True enough, the forms of private ownership were preserved. The government did not nationalize the means of production, as in Soviet Russia. But the ostensible owners could not set prices on their own volition. The government made all essential decisions. As Mises said,

" The second pattern [of socialism] (we may call it the Hindenburg or German pattern) nominally and seemingly preserves private ownership of the means of production, and keeps the appearance of ordinary markets, prices, wages, and interest rates. These are, however, no longer entrepreneurs, but only shop managers (Betriebsführer in the terminology of the Nazi legislation). These shop managers are seemingly instrumental in the conduct of the enterprises entrusted to them; they buy and sell, hire and discharge workers and remunerate their services, contract debts and pay interest and amortization. But in all their activities they are bound to obey unconditionally the orders issued by the government's supreme office of production management. This office (the Reichswirtschaftsministerium in Nazi Germany) tells the shop managers what and how to produce, at what prices and from whom to buy, at what prices and to whom to sell. It assigns every worker to his job and fixes his wages. It decrees to whom and on what terms the capitalists must entrust their funds. Market exchange is merely a sham."

Interesting , no? Keynesian theory? . Central planning schemes? More government control? From those that were clearly from the left?

"Today many people call for drastic measures to cope with the recession. Paul Krugman, e.g., in The Return of Depression Economics and the Crisis of 2008 (Norton, 2008) says "there will have to be an assertion of more government control — in effect, it will come closer to a full temporary nationalization of a significant part of the financial system."

The rapid transition to state socialism under Germany during the 1930s illustrates the dangers of such a course."

One thing for sure: Nazi economics and free market economics/true capitalism are the exact opposites of each other. What we have in America today is getting closer and closer to what is akin to National Socialism/Fascist economics. The major difference is that today in America, the Corporations and Special. Interests are dominant instead of a single political party. Or is that really the case?

Despite the claims of the two "sides", both Republicans and Democrats are largely the same in their actions. Under "bipartisan consensus" both get what they want. There is merely the illusion of differences. Something to keep the people divided. While the people that the "two" party's actually represent prosper at the expense of the people.

Both political parties represent a type of soft fascism. Only, it's getting less soft by the day.
