Maybe the Evangelical right needs to learn this, or maybe they just don't care.

Excellent article - short and to the point. Laws and morals do not always coincide. Truly good people do not enforce or support immoral laws.

Yes we have laws to keep some sort of order in society but we also have a BRAIN!
Obviously there's many who haven't worked out how to use it.... or is it that they are simply manipulating & abusing everyone else's brain?!?
Evil is limitless!

Many people have trouble recognizing and understanding this distinction (moral or ethical versus legal). Trump immediately comes to mind as person who has spent his career skirting this fine line, and not giving a rat's patootie about ethics.

Great article. Like others have mentioned, good people know the difference and don't support immortal laws
Too bad the idiot in the W H doesn't. Thanks Mitchell .

Good article; It seems that many on the right have not only lost their way, but also their minds.
Thank you.

While I am a Conservative (one parent Liberal the other Conservative ~ I do not vote what I signed up for all the time...hope for the best and feel like I am slinging paste on the wall to see if it sticks sometimes). I have chosen not to express my feelings since it would be DIMMER than an unlit candle now days!
I continue to hope for a leader I would respect. I know most of you are talking about Trump, but I'm talking about ALL I have seen. In California frankly, there rarely been someone honest lately. i.e. POLITICIANS are all asking for a hand out and a foot up everyone's ...

TY for posting...please remember guys if you would this is not just one side or the is all of THEM!!!!
No political person is a SAVOR!

We tend to forget that moral and ethics have changed over time, generally for the good, I might add, and laws have changed for the better in their wake. Human rights laws are a good example of this. However it goes terribly wrong when some fractions try to reverse history because their own moral and ethics have slipped back decades or even centuries, often riding on the back of the older and more arcane parts of their religion. Hitler's holocaust, slavery and the Da'esh's Caliphate are good examples, but the slipping of morals and ethics, and the laws with them, is something we should be aware of in present times too.

It isn't only the US which is under threat of this rather massive slip of moral and ethics resulting in for instance cruel immigration laws. In Europe Hungary has passed laws which forbids the entry of any asylum seeker (immigrant) and now has topped that up with laws making it illegal to aid any asylum seeker even though they are no longer entering Hungary. Hungarians have now started to attack camps and settlements of the Roma, the travelling people who have been persecuted there for centuries and of who m millions also ended up in the German extermination camps. The first Roma deaths have now been reported. This is what happens when a totalitarian regime's morals slip back in time. This is what can happen in the US and elsewhere. The EU has not distanced itself from this member yet, by the way.

Well put, Lona, so sad.
Richard, they are one and the same thing, as I expect you know.

Favourite saying of mine which I seem toI say often (more and more these days!). Just because something is legal doesn't make it ethical or moral. I doubt if the current resident of the WH either knows or cares.
