Massive HIV Outbreak in Indiana Traced Back to Closing of Planned Parenthoods

Indiana's crisis leads the way in showing red state right-wingers where their attacks on Planned Parenthood will really lead: to serious health care crises. An HIV mini-epidemic is a fool's reward, but that's what comes of preventing prevention.

LOL anyone who believes this is in severe denial of facts. HIV, Whether people know it or not HIV has been in Corn, Vaccines etc. Has nothing to do with planned parenthood being shut down.

It does when the only place in the county that tested for HIV has been closed due to the state cutting the funding.

Read the story before you say something stupid.

This article shows a very good example of how stupid people can be. They don't understand linchpins. They think that since the HIV is being spread by needles and not by sex, Planned Parenthood has nothing to do with it.

Other than being the only place int he county that tests for HIV, no matter HOW you get the infection. Pull the linchpin, and everything comes down.

Thank You Marianne . see people this is what your thanks is when you give your state over to a republician government(?). so if your all that stupid , then you pay the price . and why is it in every post there is one total ignorant jerk , who shows their ignorance by spouting of some asinine comment ? so if it's in the corn , does that mean people there have been smoking and doing it with corn ? what a dork .

This blew up last Spring. Now Louisiana is having a STD crisis because of shuttered PPs. So, does anyone think these Rethuglican Governors can see a connection? Well, it will be interesting to see if we get a clean budget deal out of DC without defunding PP.

David B, I suspect that "Earth Guardian" is an agenda troll. If HIV were genuinely in vaccines, three quarters of the human population would be infected by now. Trolls just LOVE to play silly buggers.

Or he may be thinking the thread is about some CHEMICAL, nor a transmittable (and preventable) disease.

Debra G, I honestly had not heard this had already happened in Louisiana. How are they keeping this kind of thing out of the news?

Noted. Thanks, Marianne.
I am just hoping that sensibility will prevail and those will reopen. I donate monthly to Planned Parenthood.

Imagine that. Thanks to the right wing fundamentalist religious whack jobs. BTW, Marianne, I agree with you... Earth Guardian has got to be a troll. This person seems to be an idiot.

It's a shame Indiana has such little regard for women and girls and their health.

HIV is a blood and sexually transmitted disease. there are a lot of problems with our food and vaccines but HIV is not one of them. provide clean needles and condoms and the problem will get much better. If people can't get condoms of course the spread of stds will go through the roof. No matter what people want to pretend sex is a very natural, normal desire and people will continue doing it whether its safe or not. As far as the testing planned parenthood offers that probably doesn't really make that big of a difference. most people are too afraid to get tested and will often lie to others once they are find out they have an STD, at least in my experience. Also planned parenthood doesn't offer to test for HIV you have to know to ask and be able to give them a good reason to perform the test.
