No Point to Shark Fin Soup

Shark fin soup is an unnecessary food source when all the components found in a shark's fin are also found within herbal and vitamin supplements that are readily available, far less costly on our purse strings, and more responsible to our ecosystem.

thank you for this. I am so horrified at the wholesale slaughter of our sharks. The scale of the brutality and slaughter is truly shocking, and this must stop.

Noted and signed... totally unnecessary as a food. Have never seen it offered and would have no desire to eat it even if it were.

Not quite 'off the subject', but it is so sad to stand by and watch EDUCATED people, who should know better, going out of their way to catch sharks just for the 'adrenaline rush' - and club them to death although it's impossible for them to consume that amount of meat!! Sad to say many law enforcement officials need more indepth training in environmental laws and how to enforce it. Shark fin soup cannot have any benefits over and above many other options, it all comes down to want and greed and profit!!!

As an FYI I contacted the shark fin site that is hosting all of the various petitions and let them know that several of the petitions had closed. They informed me that they would remove the closed ones and look to put up new ones. If you are able be sure to check back with them at that site for updated petitions. Their efforts are commendable, as are all of yours. Thank you for taking an active interest.

A number of the petitions have been closed or were unaccessible. Signed the ones that were open. What a cruel yet ineffective way to enhance a man's sexual performance! The men who eat shark fin soup need to be told about Viagra and Cialis!

Thanks Deb for the article and for the link to petitions. Will forward to friends. I think many people eat shark fin soup not for the reason of health (considering many humans do eat many things that are bad for our health) but they eat it to show off their social status. Shark fin soup are very common here in my country. For me, I have been against this since I was very young but it has never been easy and I've been making fun of because of this.

Eating any part of any sentient being is absolutely wrong totally and completely. Veg diet is the only diet meant for human beings, spiritually, physically, emotionally, psychologically. Harming life is against Universal moral code.

It seems that there is always a price to pay for free will and free thinking. I thank you for standing your ground and sticking to what beliefs make the most sense to you. It is one of the toughest things to do as a person because we are a social creature. I felt it was important for me to tell you that I am proud of you, your beliefs, and your efforts. Keep on being you. The world needs more yous in it.
